It does for this guy - Phil Ivey is arguably the best poker player in the planet. There were possible Flush and Straight - he raised and then called a re-raised and then raised again after the turn!

I've done this before. It works. Turn was a scare card. You are playing the player not the cards

The flop raise indicates he’s defending against something. Ivey is counting on that he didn’t want to see the 3rd diamond rolling out which is why he fired 100k…. Table image and reputation and everything leading up to that hand probably made guy give up
