Nissan Xterra / Frontier Rear Shocks, Sway Bar Links, & Bushings Replacement

- This video will show you how I replaced the worn-out rear shocks, sway / stabilizer bar links and bushings performed on a 2003 Nissan Xterra (2000-2004). The Nissan Frontier shares the exact suspension components making the repair procedure identical. If you want a like-new factory ride, get the Japanese KYB shocks. KYB is a major suspension parts provider for Japanese car makers and their Excel-G shocks come with a lifetime warranty. The Excel-G may be the enhanced version of the original shocks and therefore provide a better ride. If you find these shocks to be a bit pricey, you can consider the less expensive Monroe or Gabriel shocks. I found that for a stiffer ride to improve handling, the European Sachs struts is the way to go.
Rattling and thunking rear end noise is typical of worn-out stabilizer bar links and bushings. These are suspension wear components and recommend you replace them with the shocks for a complete repair.

Nice video brother, quick question does it matter what side the washer goes on? Thanks✌
On the outside.
Sorry what I was referring to was the side of the washer it's like a bowl shape, Does it matter what side of the washer?
Hey Hardly Moving Productions. In your experience, what are some good aftermarket parts brands? I.E. AC Delco, Delphi, Moog, etc
For high end shocks and struts, go with KYB & Sachs followed by Moog; they're not cheap but have great warranties (lifetime). Then comes all the rest (Monroe, Gabriel, etc. which aren't that bad IMHO).
Hey very instructive video man. Quick question; I wanna get me those same shocks, do you think they would be good for a 2” PML (2 inch lift)?
I would assume you'd have to get longer shocks.
Hello, great video, one question, on the sway bar links I ordered replacements and only came with 1 nut on each bolt, am I supposed to leave that one on and use the old nut to tighten so in the future when I have to replace it again it won't strip and just turn round and round? I mean it makes sense but just want to confirm. Thank you!
Nothing wrong with using the original nuts. They're probably better.
Thanks for the reply. What are some good brands for ball joints and suspension/steering components?
Mevotech.
I just put in new cv axles, upper and lower arms, sway bar links and tie rods in the front end of my 06 xterra. I had it aligned already. Thinking I should do the rear end links now too.. will I need to get another alignment after doing the rear end?
If the rear end isn't making noise, I'd leave it alone.
What size wrench did you use to hold the opposite side while ratcheting the rear links off?
14mm
Hi I’m trying to replace my shocks and can’t get the bolts to budge. I’ve done pb blaster and tried a breaker bar with no luck. Have any suggestions? My porter cable impact didn’t budge them either. I just soaked them in atf to see if that’ll loosen them more 🤞
Try using heat ... like from a propane or acetylene torch.
@@hardlymovingpro thanks I’ll try that tonight
@@hardlymovingpro worked like a charm!! Thank you! 💪🏻☺️👍
My pleasure!
Did you put the washers on wrong? They look outwards
Don't think so.
👍👍👍☝☝☝
Thanks!
How much did you paid on parts? Shocks and swaybars?
Can't recall. Not that expensive.
