SummerNav - Owairaka 2024

Owairaka (the Māori name for the local peak) is a new map in central Auckland - based along the Oakley Creek that was for many years, a swamp, but now one of Auckland's best cycle ways. Along the course is Arthur Lydiard's house (A NZ running legend) and the start and finish was at Lovelock Track (Jack Lovelock - NZ Olympic gold medallist). The track is one of the locations where Neill and I train "The Team" - the Mount Albert Grammar School (MAGS) Orienteering Team - National Boys Champs 6 years in a row... Yes, I'm showing off....
Course 2 - 5.5 km, 20 controls - Race 16 of Auckland Orienteering Club's annual summer orienteering season and a new map for 2024 - Thanks to Neill for setting the course, and AOC for organising.

The joy of orienteering maps is the scale is always spot on and they are always north on the page - I scaled the west map then just merged them in Photoshop - fit like a glove. Wish I had managed to get the same size control circles, but nothing is prefect ;)

Thanks Mark :) I'm just in the learning phase of creating maps - I like doing schools and urban areas. I updated your ALexandra Park map - all those new apartments - was fun
