Cool, just got a 2022 C2, moved from a 2014 ICCE. Compared to the rattling noise by the door, the only time my bus makes a rattling noise is when I’m turning.

I am so happy you got a new bus you've been through some humdingers! I currently drive a 1997 FS-65 with 234,000 mi. Its a good, clean old bus but man it will kill your back!
When I was in school, I personally liked riding the school bus. Many of my peers hated it. Maiden Voyage makes me think of the Titanic, and I've adopted the terms port and starboard to refer to the the sides of the bus. My favorite place to sit on a school bus, was the "shotgun" seat, the front seat on the starboard side, behind the stairwell. I wonder'f this brand new bus has A/C.
That is a really cool bus. Compared to the busses I used to take(only about 3 years ago), that one is nice. The busses my school system have are 1999 Blue Birds retro fitted with 2003 Cummins with stage 2 turbos. And I'm telling you: they were loud, smelly, and constantly broke down. I'm currently driving a 2005 GMC micro bus(also made by Blue Bird), and eh, it gets the job done.
yellowbusguy, I'd be interested to know what the transmission setting is. There are a couple of different options, Allison Performance, and the IC setting (can't think of the name.) That setting makes a dramatic difference in the shift points, as does the rear end gearing. Here in NY we do Allison Performance on the IC's, typically with a 6.17 gear ratio.
I have no idea and the garage is the only one's that can make software changes. Every bus I've ever driven could use a different shift program. They always set them for Economy, but those settings mean you spend most of your time at WOT, so I don't see where the economy part comes in.
I had a 2010 with the Maxxforce too. It blew up the turbo, sprang a huge rear axle leak, threw off a belt and stranded me on the X way ramp. Loved that thing though.
@@yellowbusguy The Maxxforce engines couldn't handle the switch to DEF... No district near me uses them anymore. This is also why they switched to Cummins

There’s no excuse for not getting that corrected by now. Anyway, it’s still a beautiful bus. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for sharing.
They do have a long way to go with quality, that's for certain. This morning a screw came out of the floor trim by the driver's seat because they completely stripped out the hole and one of my first graders brought me a screw she found on the floor. I have no idea where it came from, I've swept several times.

Bluebird isn't any better. We've had loose screws and squeaks on our newer propane buses. They really aren't that quiet either. They make a growling noise that everyone outside the bus can hear and will scream if they accelerator is pushed all the way down. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Ikeb I don't like Bluebird either. They rattle like hell. I prefer IC. The MaxxForce DT buses have a lot more going for them though. Lol. Those are my favorite series in my district. We are completely IC.
No kidding. I took a 2010 Bluebird on a field trip a few days ago and it was the worst bus driving experience I've had so far. The ride on the interstate was very rough- it was like I was going over speed bumps too fast. I wish my district had the wisdom of yours. I'm going to try to work with them and my IC dealer friend to see that we get only ICs in the future.
Our district only uses the c2s and that's all they've used for years how do they compare to the international? In terms of acceleration, steering and reliability?
The C2's I think ride a little harder than the internationals, but very nicely. The wheel cut seems to be similar and the acceleration is slightly quicker, at least the gearing seems to be sorted out better. C2's overall are more reliable and rarely need to be towed back to the shop. Can't say that for the CE's. THe C2's are pricey though and we need to buy 70 and 80 new units a year and I think thats why we keep going back to International.
If you want quite, try a RE bus, I live in one and after having class A RVs I'm shocked at how quite it is up front, can't hardly hear the engine much at all. That Cummins sounds good but I hate the EPA garbage on diesels anymore.
tbh I've never seen a International up close IRL due to them being so rare in my district you mostly see thomas C2, HDX, EFX, MVP ER's. But hey I enjoyed the video. stay safe
I know what is causing the squeak, it’s the rubber on the door rubbing together. When I was in school I have pulled open the door on IC buses before, it bends towards you a little when you do, so that means the frame is at least 50%-75%rubber with a very thin, when it comes to school buses, aluminum frame. The solution is to not use as much rubber, and instead only use r for the seals, and make the rest of the frame out of steel, or something of that nature.

It a system of lines, dots and squares painted on the ground we use to check for proper adjustment of the mirrors. You line the bus up on an "L" , aligning the bus on one side and the bumper on the front, then you look and see how many dots you can see on the left and right and the crossover mirrors and adjust them accordingly. The squares which are behind are used to adjust the convex and flat driving mirrors. It gets you in the ballpark, although if you've driven for any amount of time, you can set them properly without the grid.
Always hated driving the MaxxForce DT, gutless, loud and sounded like 10 exploding sewing machines under the hood. The Cummins I find definitely quieter as well and definitely a bit more peppy.

Hey man I'm just calling it how I see it! I tested this idea because I thought the same that with the larger displacement the DT should pull better. I went up an identical hill that is a 18% Grade with foot to the floor when I started with both. With the Cummins I had to let off the throttle a bit because I ended up going over the speed limit going up the hill (ua-cam.com/video/MK6Svo91iIc/v-deo.html). We have at least 500 C2's in the fleet. My district had a lot of issues with International because of too much engine trouble and rust issues in many of the 2010 and older CE's. 2011's up to 2016 were all C2's, but these are significantly more expensive than a CE. When International included Cummins engines in their line up and they improved the rust proofing, we began buying CE's again . We have nearly 1000 buses in the fleet, so money has to go as far as it can.
yellowbusguy well you wouldn t want to drive one for just that reason. They suck ass, especially the newer ones. Those 2015+ visions sound like they have a rod knock in them. Plus BlueBird fucks em up by putting this economy transmission setting that greatly reduces the shift points and bogs the bus down (like yours does but only much worse). You have to keep those dam things floored to get anywhere. Plus they're ugly looking anyway. Lmao
The EuroStyle mirrors are still able to be ordered. It's not a common thing this day and age but some districts order them that way. The "Space out alot" mirrors you're referring to are the OpenView style, the split ones, which are far more common. We have the Openview on ours, but some districts prefer the EuroStyle ones. Yes, this is a 2017. It is almost unheard of for anything older than 2016 to have a Cummins in it. (Except for a couple of the 09 MaxxForce 7s Lmao)

Don't you guys also have those BlueBird pieces of shit? God if there is one bus that I hate it is that damn Vision....
Special needs has the Bluebirds. Never driven one. They seem really loud (engine noise).
yellowbusguy well you wouldn t want to drive one for just that reason. Lmao
You should of warmed up the Engine . a little , before you drove it .
RICHARD maaske it was he did the lamp check with it running
RICHARD maaske a couple mins is all the manual says
RICHARD maaske An engine sitting and idling won’t warm up anyway, that causes excessive wear - (and so does taking off at full speed when it’s cold)
I doubt International actually builds the bus. That’s usually done by a coach or bus building outfit

What what now movie about you bus
That's not a 2017 it's an old one because the mirrors are posed to be space out by alot
Christopher McManus I'm going to leave your comment here so everyone can explain why you are wrong.
yellowbusguy Im not wrong because my are 2006-2017 and the 2010-2017 have mirrors that are spaced out a lot
Christopher McManus No this is a 2017
The EuroStyle mirrors are still able to be ordered.
Jerry Sylvester We have 2014 CEs delivered with Cummins in them. My district bought the first ever Cummins CEs.
My Ic Ce stops at 71 mph
✝️💒✡️🇵🇷🇧🇷
I drive a 2019 Blue Bird Vision. Wonderful engine but it always breaks down it's the oil tank it falls out.To me Internationals are way more durable than Blue Birds.I use to also drive a Thomas FS 1989 bad engine it goes 10 MPH up a hill but I did deal with it. I also used to drive 380 International awful bus didn't go over 35 MPH. Right now I am using a Sub bus 2006 Blue Bird Vision it's okay but it smells! Brown seats but I deal with it my kids I drive hate it! They complain and complain. 😂 I love driving busses.
I love school buses
What the heck so so so many schoolbuses
We have more than 800 in my district. This is just one compound. There are 13 across the county.

Got the same type of bus as you I would say last late October during my final year of high school, here’s the link to an engine start up video.

I love you baby though I want you. Every day you see a little more that you see anymore but one versus who remembers it in the I get where you show me tmore
What a fail, didn't even check fluids, or your emergency windows, doors, or hatches.
Considering I was just moving the bus from one yard to another and the mechanics had just completed the pre delivery inspection , it wasn't necessary to go through a complete pre trip. There were also no passengers. I'm sure you pre trip your personal vehicle every trip, right?
Actually I do, its a habit of mine and I take it very seriously.
why doesnt it have super dome led lights
