This was so fun to see an actual different comp and an excecution of zone control and crowd control protect the puppy comp. Olaf is so scary into certain champions. I wonder if we would ever see changes to allow for olaf to flex to the jungle and carry from there.

I think the Shurelya's is a pretty common build for Veigar because you don't have the MS options you had with Mythics being gone.

7:20 yes your right LS they are so used to do only 5 things, that their imagination and skills towards something different is bringing downfall. It's the poor man thinking, can't get out of this cycle. So they prefer the low risk, low reward, doing the same over and over. Also Shaco is good with Veigar cage. Alistar is only to peel the dmg towards Smolder. It's not a counter comp, it's a 5 team comp, so the fault is at the opponents pick.

they weren't playing for early dive with ivern lead + cork package, talk about the ezreal mid players that manage to hit grandmaster and maybe this season will have something the last one didn't have, looking at the jungle picks realistically they still just gap out 2nd item powerspikes too much I think, like, you go AP one time and your midlaner will simply never want to recover only because he can't crutch on teleport but, I'm still looking forward to how caster's attempt to resolve some lyrical solution to tackling that as a strategy of the gamestate as a whole instead of blabbering on positional picks.

I feel as though LS has gotten kinda closed minded about builds and picks. When discussing Alistar, I don't see why he has to be a dive champion when he can very easily sit on top of Smolder or Veigar and completely repel the Nautilus Renekton that the opponents just drafted. You could say there are other champions that can do this better like Janna or whatever, but Alistar obviously provides things that Janna cannot like an engage mode when they do get to the point in the game where they can steamroll over the enemies. It would also be much more stable in the early game if they suddenly are getting threatened to get dove or something. Hes just a versatile champion provided the enemy has already picked their support. And then on Veigar's build, I don't see why when the game is going this well that you would need to tunnel on building dcap cryptbloom (I assume this is what they want him to build). Why is Shurelias bad? The game is already over when Smolder gets online. Olaf is basically already online. Why do you need it to be even more over? Why would building utility like movement speed for the whole team be a bad thing? I dunno what that Shaco pick is tho.

I think it's questionable what Alistar really does at the stage of the draft at which he comments on it. Hard to deny that it fits well into the comp as soon as the Veigar is shown though.
The problem isn't they aren't a dive comp so the offensive tools alistar gives doesn't compliment the other parts of his team, and if you want to crutch on a secondary mode of alistar to peel there are other champs that just do what he does better. He's not a versatile champion in any regards. His engages are one dimensional, and he can't peel and engage at the same time, and defiantly can't peel more than one person off, and struggles to deal with flanks if your team is getting pinched. So why opt into a champion that isn't best in slot and doesn't compliment your carries? And you don't pick a champion on the off chance you can get to the point where you "can steamroll over enemies." That's just not how draft philosophy works.
The reason that shurelias is bad is it completely stunts his damage curve in mid game, and mages already struggle with not getting enough AP at this point AND he's solo ap this game so worse case scenario he needs to chew through ivern shields (if you wanted to build utility/tank veiger you just build that. You don't split identity your item build path.) With smolder ult you don't need the luxury movement speed. Again, you're not a dive comp. You play around Veiger cage to terrian control choke holds and force them to walk into you while smolder presses Q and chips at them. You already have a 40% AOE slow from smolder's ult so why do you also need all this extra movement speed when your controlling choke points? It's absolutely not necessary given their comp identity. I'd argue predator rune on veiger arrives the same outcome without stunting his entire build, or better yet just have support buy the item since enemy comp is mostly just single target dps and locket isn't the highest value here since it doesn't give the passive defense stats anymore.
TLDR: Play into your comps primary strengths, build towards your champion's identity.
Let’s be real here Alistair works yes but a janna would have supported both veigar,smolder and Olaf way way better plus the enemy had no long range poke anyway and by proxy have to engage them. A janna or tresh, Hell even a maokai (almost same peel and a way safer long distant engage) would be a way way way better option then a alistar.
And about the items even when the game is over why do people still build suboptimal or draft like monkeys. How is playing optimal being close minded

@@shanemoore6182 You don't need to be playing a dive comp for a champion that has a go button to be good. What support do you recommend they go with then? What is this omni versatile champion that can disengage multiple people, deal with flanks, pairs well with your planned adc and mid, and can have a laning phase where you don't get rolled over? Braum is kinda one, but Braum lacks the offensive ability that Alistar has. Anyone who actually plays the game knows that you can't just have 5 reactive champions on one team to perfectly zone control everything. How do you ever walk forward? How do you retake a part of the map where your opponent is? If your rebuttal is that you should just be set up first, the game does not work like this. Assuming you plan a Veigar pick, peeling one enemy is generally plenty when your other ranged carry, Smolder, has an ability that can self peel.
Look at Veigar's build this game. It literally is tank utility Veigar. Thats what he chose to build this game. He isn't in a game where the enemy champions are these insanely tanky, unkillable champs. Smolder Olaf WILL kill everyone as long as they can hit. 40% AoE slow from Smolder ult is a one time use thing per fight. You're going to say that thats enough to just wipe the enemy team? You're going to tell me that Olaf Alistar Smolder Veigar aren't champions that don't do well with an additional burst of movespeed? The item allows you to do things that aren't possible. You extend your effective range of threat. You don't spend the whole game controlling chokes. Thats not how league of legends works. Alistar had enough gold for his second item only at the very end of the game. You can't have Alistar build Shurelias since the item gives no defensive stats, and Alistar needs to be tanky enough to not get blown up instantly as he combos someone. Or poked down by Corki rockets and Varus poke. Locket is the only item that gives you every stat you could want (armor mr hp haste) while also being affordable by a support.

Olaf with 3 items can just run over your back line almost all the time. He’s tanky by nature and gets a massive dmg boost plus cc immunity and almost no champion can peel an adc or mage against that.

@@jeppelund112 his main role is running over the enemy back line when he can do it with 3 items i dont think hes gonna have problems with 4 or 5 items. I think there isnt a really good champion that can match olaf in the endgame that isnt a duelist champ. Olaf is a lane bully plus he scales mega good with his own abilities. Armor pen on Q, Max health shield on W, scaling true dmg on E and some def on his non active R and a scaling attack increase buff also on R (plus cc immunity and movespeed for 1 second). Olaf scales way better then all the other bruisers with items because he has so many abilities that do.
