I agree. I think that Gene even as a bass does the tenor part better than even a few tenors can! I think the arrangement with him on the bass was my favorite one, though. I've never been too fond of either Holcomb or Bennett, but that's just me.
Did u hear the bass bass at the second try?? OMG that was insane... and i hope someday they create a tenor or baritone quartet... this ought to be funny ^^
is it me or is the same guy on tenor all 4 times listen close it sounds like it so is everyone on same parts just different mikes or are they really singing different parts each time
Oh really! All of them basses do chest fry I think from about E downward. I think pure chest from about low E is not such an easy thing. The lower you go obviously more natural fry mixed in with that chest voice. When a bass goes totally frying because he can't hit the really deep note naturally you can hear it clearly.
Oh my god, Gene McDonald must be a 4 octave wonder! This is both fun and amazing. Thanks so much for posting.
Wow!! Bass Quartet!!? I would like to sing in one. Great performance.
One of my favorite UA-cam videos EVER!!! An instant classic!
Agreed, its nice seeing what they all could do, we all knew eric had an upper register, but gene surprised me, and eric sounded awesome at bass!
I met Gene McDonald when he was with the Florida Boys; they played at my church. I was impressed by his singing then, but holy cow this is amazing.
Oh ty ty tt. I so needed this😅
Thanks for the upload, it made my day!
Bass singers amaze me with how high they can actually go in full voice.
THAT.... Is one for the books, right There!!!!! I didn't know a bassinger can go that high!!!!
As a bass singer all I can say is WOW!

Yellow jacket: Charlie Waller, of the New Florida Boys
Piano: Stewart Varnado, formerly of the Dixie Echoes.

Ole Jeff. What a bass!! 🙂
Two questions: who's the yellow jacket guy and who's the piano player?
WOW THATS ALL I CAN SAY
Eric's decent at lead (as well as bass!). I think biglhot75 has a clip somewhere of him singing an E or Eb4.
i have a clip of him singing "tenor"
Decent?? He's one of the best on that BASS actually. 🙂
Charlie Waller I think
is it me or is the same guy on tenor all 4 times listen close it sounds like it so is everyone on same parts just different mikes or are they really singing different parts each time
Who's the goof behind Gene that doesn't like his singing?
is it me or does there seem to be an inrony that two 3 sing near pigeon forge tn and one of the two replaced one of the other guys?
You can see the strain in Gene's face as he tries to hit those high notes.
Eric is just a fryer
