Thanks so much for the video. I just installed a 7 inch antenna with this as a guide. It is much easier installing the rubber grommet when the antenna bracket has been removed as shown. I had to carefully pry the inner sections of the grommet that hold it in place in order for it to lay flush with the body but once that was done it was easy to get it all back together. I didn't use the same wrench to remove/reinstall the bracket but my ratchet with a 10 inch extender worked perfectly.
Thank you, Donny. I used this video as a template to install a new bezel and re-adjust the height of the antenna base on my 2012 Toyota Sienna. Before that, I extracted a broken antenna piece stuck in the base after having watched your video about how to do that using reverse/left-hand drill bits and a center punch. Excellent how-to-videos like yours are the reason I love being a student at "UA-cam University." 1000 blessing to you and yours.
My 2018 Tundra Crewmax Limited has the same type of antenna “ornament”. All I had to do was leave the antenna in place, slide the ornament down over the antenna and down into the hole while holding a firm upward grip on the antenna while twisting/pushing the grommet/ornament thing in place. Worker perfectly, took less than a minute.
Thanks. Ordered the piece through your link. Easy to replace. Only 3 plastic clips removed and 1 bolt. Used a screwdriver with extension to unscrew bolt. 2014 Tundra. Just dropped a 9mm socket and left it at the bottom. Tried to fish it out but it took longer than replacing the base so I left it there.
My 2015 Toyota Tundra Limited’s Grommet crumbled. No need to do anything but take antenna off, cleaner wax the area and pop the new grommet back on! 20 second fix!
Door an door ,trim tools work great for getting those fender deals out ,im watching this because i broke mine trying to put aftermarket antenna on ,an it smashed the rubber, so good video because it just saved me 15 20 minutes.
I just laughed when you said the only faults and YESSSSS that is 100% correct. Those are the ONLY two things my 2017 Tundra has had fail. Good job. Video was a little dark at first but improved as you progressed..
Compliments on the video. Direct and to the point, as all instructionals should be. I’m replacing the antenna base (grommet) on my ‘16 Tundra Platinum and was looking for professional guidance and direction. Many thanks.
Thanks for the video, very helpful, mine just parted itself out. True also for the reminder on the mast, I'm going to stick with the touch free car wash my antenna mast has made it to 15 years and 165k miles without snapping off.
I don't know how many of these you have done but I just remove the antenna mast and the old rubber boot. I slide the new rubber boot over the antenna base and into the hole in the fender, install the antenna mast and done. I haven't found the need to mess with the inner fender panel and unbolt the antenna base.
Thanks for the great video as I had no idea how I was going to change mine! The only problem I may have is that I have fender flares installed that I will probably have to un-bolt. Thanks again!!
I have a 5th Gen 4 runner. I’m assuming this is done the same way? I tried installing the ornament over the antenna but it’s nearly impossible. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Just went through the process of replacing the headlight bulb...................................taking the whole front grille off, maybe this will seem a bit easier but they sure don't make anything too easy.
Well I just got through replacing the grommet and I guess this is one of those rare instances where neglect made something easier. The grommet was so deteriorated that it just completely fell apart on its on so I just screwed the antenna off, slipped the grommet on, screwed the antenna back on and..................presto, chango, it's a done deal.
That part is good Donny, but I am replacing the entire antenna, and as with your video and others, it doesn't show replacing it through to where the new antenna clips in past the firewall in the car. i see everything you did, but am still confused where to pull the inside apart to clip in the new antenna. My grommet is still in excellent shape even after many years. The truck is a 2007 Tundra Limited and I might add new condition. Just the radio receives zero signals. If you get a chance make one on the entire replacement. Thanks.
Noticed mine was cracked a couple days ago. Sucks that 5 years into the truck and I have to replace this. Poor design. To be fair, the Florida sun kills everything. Anyway, still love my Tundra and thanks for the video, it really helped.
This was very educational! I just replaced mine and was wondering why it wasnt fitting flush to the truck, now I know! Any videos on how to replace all that rubber all around the outside of the back window? Mine is shot!
Do you have or know of a link showing the replacement of the entire antenna? You briefly touched about going through the firewall. My antenna base has the bottom of my antenna. Still stuck in there, I can’t get it out..
Thanks and great video friend ….. yep, watching this as a car wash just broke my antenna ….. so I’m trying to learn how to extract the threaded base to replace with new.
Mine broke on my 2015 Tundra in a car wash recently. I didn't know this was a thing, otherwise I would've removed my antenna each time. We didn't replace the antenna for a few weeks. In that time, the remaining thread inside there worked its way back out, enough I could get my finger nails on it to unscrew it. Luckily we didn't have to go through the steps to remove that. Well when my husband put the new antenna on it, we discovered the rubber bezel was split in several places. I just ordered the part! It's on backorder with Toyota btw with no ETA as of 8/30/21. Amazon had it for $12.99 after tax though!
I haven’t paid attention to any disclosures at the car wash I use currently, but with other ones I have read on their signage they are not responsible for damage to your vehicle. Something to look into though, but too much time may have passed for me.
@@toshasmith7260 mine just issued me a check for $225., and I’m grateful for a reasonable and responsible car-wash chain. I wasn’t expecting them to do anything, so I was pleasantly surprised!!

@@Donnythelatemodeltech Coming back to this subject: In my 4runner there are 2 lines of fasteners for that plastic liner. I was hoping to get away with only the Phillips screws, but from your previous post it sounds that I definitely have to remove the flares. Is that right?
