- Abandoned Coal Tracks At The Abandoned Power Plant, Fast CSX Trains, Louisville & Nashville Railway Heritage Locomotive, 5 Track Railroad Crossing & 3 Track Railroad Crossing With CSX And Norfolk Southern Trains. 7 Trains In Miamisburg And Carlisle, Ohio.
First we go to the abandoned railroad yard that was used for coal cars for the power plant that was closed a few years back. This is just outside of Miamisburg, Ohio. We take a close look at the rail and a look at the progress on changing the power plant to a new development. Two CSX trains passed here. They were both booking and the second one had the L&N Heritage locomotive. That was my first time to catch it. Chris, @LostDepot was here with me. This is the DP&L Hutchins Power Station. It closed in 2013 and is being redeveloped into condos and businesses. I remember it used to have a GE centercab locomotive and about 4 tracks that went all the way to the river. The railroad crossing for it had a yellow flashing light on a pole. The light is laying on the ground today.
Then we moved just a couple of miles south on the same lines to Carlisle, Ohio. This is an interesting railroad crossing with a busy CSX line and a Norfolk Southern line that gets a train every few hours or so. We see a big Norfolk Southern train with DPU power in the middle and a Norfolk Southern local switching train.
We also catch 3 CSX trains speeding through the crossing on the Toledo Sub. The Toledo Sub goes to Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati. The Norfolk Southern line is the Dayton District that runs to Gest Street Yard in Cincinnati. Both yards adjoin each other and are behind Cincinnati Union Terminal. If you want to see more trains from this area check out Chris's channel which is @LostDepot. Last week Chris was filming a train in Carlisle and a woman walked in front of a CSX train while Chris was filming. He did not post the video of course showing the accident which happened right in front of him. I'm glad I didn't go there that day. Also, check out the slide show at the end of the video and see what the Live Action Pets are doing.
Filmed Tuesday, March 12, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Happy Saturday Morning.
Hello there Steve! I am told I&O is going to start going on duty at 8am in Washington Courthouse to go south and then go north in the evening. Should see more of their trains in the light now instead of dark
Good Saturday Morning 🌅🌄
@@JawTooth Cool.Thanks for the information.
@@michaelhewitt258 Thanks
Looking forward to watching another awesome JT video thanks greetings from Scotland 😊
Thanks 👍
@@JawTooth your welcome JT 😊
Boy OH Boy OH Boy! Those first two trains were BOOKING!
Great catch of the L&N Heritage power!
Brief history of L&N ...
The Louisville and Nashville Railroad (L&N) was a Class I railroad that operated freight and passenger services in the American Southeast from 1850 to 1982. It was one of the most profitable and influential railroads in the southern market from the second half of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The L&N was Kentucky's first interstate standard carrier railroad, and its construction marked the state's largest internal improvement project.
In 1850, the Commonwealth of Kentucky chartered the L&N, and in 1859, the company completed its mainline to Nashville. The L&N expanded its reach by purchasing other railroads, and in 1971-72, SCL Industries purchased its stock. In 1982, the L&N Company merged into the Seaboard System Railroad, and the Seaboard System quickly lost its own corporate identity, becoming CSX Transportation in 1986.
Thanks for the information and for watching!
Railfans, proud supporters of the tripod industry. Love it when I see railfans in these videos.
i always prefer jawtooth's videos because he *doesn't* use a tripod. idk what kind of camera he uses but it has good stabilization so there's never any need for a tripod, plus it lets him pan around and zoom more fluidly
@@kh-ro5suI like both ways. I think Jaw Tooth is using a phone. Jaw Tooth's ability to narrate off the cuff is something not everybody can do. A tripod would limit his work but for others a tripod can help. You can shoot a train with two cameras (or more) by using tripods and still shoot handheld at the same time. And so on.
The train with the L& N unit had an old blue Rock Island car. That was COOL.
6:14
I seen two Rock Island hoppers on that L&N and CSX train. Cool beans.
And a Milwaukee Road hopper 🙂
Hello Jawtooth hope you get more support, and maybe hit 1M subs very soon! Keep it up with the videos Jawtooth fan out.
Hey, thanks!
Thanks for share, I like all your videos Brian, I was in Carlisle at noon that day but I decided to go to Tipp City to catch the I141 and 3194 Spirit of Our Law Enforcement, before leave Carlisle I catch the geometry train, after I leave Tipp City I was listening the radio scanner and nobody said nothing about it, until I saw the report on the internet around 4 o'clock pm, thanks God I didn't see it but I feel sorry for Chris @Lost Depot. But great video.
Very cool! You had a great day that day. I hope Chris can get over seeing that.
Good morning Brian. I have a feeling it may come to it when we use those old coal power plants again. We will go back to the good ole days from the way the world is going.
I hope so. Coal keeps the lights on and provides jobs
If the GREEN agenda wins there won't be any power plants operating. They are coming after our fire places and wood burning stoves soon.
Coal is an expensive and labor intensive fuel. The average coal plant employed on the average 300 employees. They are being replaced with gas-fired combined cycle plants that require around 30 people with the same capacity.
Some of the group of older Freight cars today included ROCK. CNW. MKT but their paint schemes and\or reporting marks have changed. The last train with the more colorful boxcar was built as TOE Texas Oklahoma and Eastern. They are affiliated with the Dequeen and Eastern but I've never seen Freight cars marked for them. What were the years many got marked OAR Old Augusta RR and now we're down to LRS. Laurinburg & Southern. Milwaukee got 8 inches of snow yesterday and it's supposed to rain Tuesday and Wednesday so spring is deciding its own schedule
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo et très bon week-end ! 👍🙏
Thanks for watching!
@@JawTooth 🖐🖐🙏🙏
There is a lot of train action in both Miamisburg and Carlisle Ohio
this morning with CSX, Norfork Southern and L&N Special Locomotives
also a nice view of the old power plant, with an appearance by Norfie
Chessie, Loki and Brandi and the awesome train slide show Thanks
Jaw Tooth.🇺🇲🤠🇺🇲🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲🇺🇲
Sounds great! Thanks for watching!
Have a good weekend Brian, I hate to see these power plants shutting down.
Me too. The one in Florida switched to natural gas so there won't be any more coal trains in Plant City. That wasn't good. But anyway , have a great weekend!
@@JawTooth if Donald Trump becomes President again, very soon he will reopen these power plants with clean coal technology.
That was a fast CSX mixed freight! I like the body style of the second locomotive,6 Months JT. Nice catch. 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Yeah thanks!
@@JawTooth You're welcome.
First unit on the first train SD70mac with flared radiator rebuilt and repainted. First unit on the second train SD70mac with flared radiator rebuilt but has received new paint yet. Great catch !
Thanks for the info!
Can't wait for some Spring action now!
Me too!😊
18:40 little western Maryland logo there!
Nice!
I was wondering if anyone would comment on that. Good eyes! 😊🎉
A couple fresh SD70Mac rebuilds out of the Huntington WV shops. 4810 hasn't made it to Waycross Ga for paint. Great catches.
Thanks for the info
You did good in that area.
I should have gone there today with the sun out. CSX is busy there
Cool L&N unit! They had their CSX/NYC unit at the Eastman plant in Kingsport, TN last weekend. Great video Mr Tooth.
Cool, thanks!
Awesome catch Jawtooth! I've been looking to catch the L&N heritage unit! It's my favorite!👍
Thanks!
MaC ✨ nifico 🐓🚂➡️👏🏼
Thanks for watching!
You got a salute toot. Cool. Another great video. Love it. 😊my husband can hardly wait to see your fur babies at the end he said. They are so good together. Thanks so much Mr JT. This is good.❤😊
😊 thank you
cool
Thanks 😊
Nice CSX toot salute. Looks like some nice warm weather there. Up here in Rhinelander it's in the 20s with 6-10"" of snow coming tomorrow turning to sleet, freezing rain and then all rain by Tuesday with a high of 40°F. I predict in the next few years this country will regret getting rid of the coal fired power plants when electricity becomes scarce. Excellent action on this one, liked it much. Thanks JT!
My thoughts EXACTLY on coal/natural gas fired power plants. Ain't no Nicola Tesla here to help & people STILL AFRAID of nuclear power!
I agree. Thanks for watching 😊
I think he gave you a shout out... well past the crossing.
Moving right along too.
I like watching train videos
Thanks for watching 😊
Like the power plant abandoned rails. Like the Dayton District, too.
Me too!
Thank you for the spectacular video JT! Great trains, scenery and entertaining. You really do a stellar job producing and presenting. To end with the pets is top notch with me. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you very much!
@@JawTooth You're welcome JT!
Long, short, horn salute, booking, DPU icu, norfy, gambit, brand new tanker cars in rear and flat spots. Wow a whole package !!!

Son, those trains are aaaa rollin! Thanks for the action!
You bet!
Congratulations on catching the L&N Hu!
Thanks 😊
Good morning I enjoyed that video👍👍
Good morning London!
Nice to hear the engineers honk at you. Good to to see the white ghost (Ram 1500). Great video.
thanks for watching! My Ram is getting high miles. I need to replace it this year
@@JawTooth 2024 is the last year for the Hemi. Next year they are going to a turbocharged straight six.
"5:39" not just "Booking", but "Mororing Jack" as Mike once said 😮 ( many times said ! ) ❤
That's one big mountain of ties sitting there 😊
Love it!
Good Morning Brian!!
Morning!
Great catch great freight great pets great video thanks Brian
Thank you very much!
Bunch of interesting catches. On the train with the L&N heritage unit several ex-Rock Island and Milwaukee Rd hoppers, then the Western Maryland emblem unit (5327) leadung and the former CSX 1 "Sprirt of West Virginia" on the stack train, now CSXT 7274. Plus several SD70 rebuilds.
Hello jaw tooth your videos are actually inspiring me to go watch trains and stuff and your the best dint give up good morning btw!
Glad to hear it!
Another great one, a sunny day. I like hearing the history of the area and power plant. Interesting. Good trains not too short, not too long. Perfect. ❤
Many thanks!
Great catches including L&N heritage unit, The Rock hopper, horn salute as well!
Awesome catches! Fantastic video JT!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸

Second locomotive in the first train had a hockey stick CSX! Second train had that L & N-great catch!! Great video Jawtooth!
Thank you very much!
Grainer with L&N GE was booking, nice CSX action and NS local with SD40-2!🛤🚂
Thanks for watching 😊
Fun to see Walmart containers on a railroad after Walmart once said they didn’t need railroads. Their over the road trucking system was all they needed
Thanks for watching and commenting 😊
That's what happens when you pay drivers 90,000.00 plus while most drivers make 38,000.00 to 50,000.00 yearly....
It's nice to see different power instead of the normal ones we see. Thank you for the video Brian stay well roll on
Thanks for watching
We have a fabulous NS mixed freight with a DPU next. A fair mix of different cars but the last one made this train for me! They could have kept the other 109 cars as long as they kept the drop deck heavy haul flat be car. That was just incredible JT! 😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Really nice assortment of trains, thank you JT.
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome. And the Western Maryland Sticker unit too @ 18:39
Thanks for watching!
Good morning JT...thanks
Hello there!
Another educational video from you. Thanks JT.
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice catches once again JT! Neat to see the old power plant still stands. Makes you wonder how busy it was when it was in operation. Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA. And im guessing where you said Lost Depot didn't post that video meant it was sadly a fatality.
Yes that is correct. 😢
Hey JawTooth
Great way to start a Saturday
Thanks!
@@JawTooth 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊
When I see abandoned tracks like those next to that old power plant, I try to imagine how it was back when they were in service . Catching CSX’s L&N HU was pretty dang cool too, sorry for being late, been watching march madness over the weekend. Thanks JT.👍🏼😎😎😁
Lots of trains in this video!, not easy to pick a favorite, so I'll pick them all! Thanks Brian, Jawtooth. Nice L& N Heritage Unit.
Great to see CSX & L&N Heritage Unit. When living in 1st apt it was on a bank right above the L&N track in Kennesaw, Ga [Big Shanty aka Home of the The General of Civil War Fame w/museum housing it a few yds away]. Had a derail rt behind apt with boxcar loads of Seagram 7 Whiskey scattered all across tracks. Many busted but some not, so had a quite a supply of whiskey for a while. Helped to harvest the wood in the Generals tender that is housed in the museum. School holiday in April 1962 to attend as The General retraced its route from Big Shanty to Chattooga.
The last train was long and interesting, for sure. A mixed freight of 121 cars that had some new tall gondolas, (for lack of a better description), new covered hoppers and a really nice string of box cars. It had others too but I was pointing out what caught my interests. Not too fast but still a fabulous train. Hreat catch JT! 😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Good morning
Hello there
Thank you for taking us back to the decommissioned coal fired power plant near Miamisburg, Ohio. We have not been to this location in a while. The CSX Louisville & Nashville Heritage Unit was unexpected catch. The trains in Carlisle, Ohio gave us a wide variety of freight cars to view.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very busy train day good job
Yes, thanks
Just wanted to say that I have watched a lot of the other railfan UA-camrs and you by far are one of the best with your videos.. Keep up the good work...
Wow, thanks!

NorFolk Southern DPU for the win!! That one as beastly!!
Thanks for watching 😊
Nice salutes you got!
Appreciate that when they do that
Love those SD70s at the beginning! That L&N Unit tops it all off! This was another Great Video JT! Keep Up the Great Work!
Thank you very much!
Enjoyed the video. It seems you can easily identify some of those heritage units with the older CSX paint scheme
You are right! Thanks for watching!
Cool to see L&N. When I was little, I used to ride the Hummingbird from Nashville to St. Louis and back. Norfie still acts like a kitten! Chessie great dog! Have not seen a full length Shoestring in awhile, wonder if he is OK?
Very cool! We need more passenger trains in my area. I talked to Shoestring a couple nights ago and he was fine
Good morning Jaw Tooth.
Good morning!
Thank You Jaw Tooth
Thanks for watching!
I was hoping for a longer CSX intermodal but 97 was still a good train. 😊😊😊❤❤❤
I agree with you
Good Saturday morning 🌄🌞
Morning! How are you
Another great video JT and yeah I really like that place you was at there at last in Carlisle because usually those CSX trains they come through that pretty fast but anyway, my friend you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
Thanks 👍
Great video Brian. Loved the old “Milwaukee Road” car on the L&N train.
Thanks 👍
It was nice to see those two Rock Island hoppers.
Norfie and the Fish🙂 I love it ❤
loved seeing 3 in a row
(For me) it was nice seeing CSX's L&N "heritage" unit 1850 once again...last August 31, I saw it roll by on CSX's "A"-Line (ex-ACL) at MP823 (Davenport FL) as a DPU on northbound manifest M457...fresh out of the paint shop, no less!! Beautiful classic Norfolk Southern horn coming from the local (equally-classic) SD40-2 @16:00. That interesting (headend) boxcar @21:52 was an ex-Amtrak express car...one of many owned by a leasing company called Carmath. 👍👍
3:10 Wow, a loc #38... that's the lowest number I've seen so far. Wow! Great catch!
Thanks for watching 😊
Nice shots around the power plant location! Oh and I have always wondered why they have defect detectors for almost everything except, apparently, flat tyres? Cheers!
Thanks 👍 They do have detectors for the flat spots but not very many of them
As always, a great video with tons of train action. Never tire of seeing those huge locomotives working hard and keeping American moving. Thanks for your part in it all also JT, which is driving the miles and making the video's so we can all see the working rails. Love it. Take care, be safe, keep warm my friend. Until next time!!!
Thank you very much!
Hey jaw tooth great trains today. Sorry the wind gives you a hard time. Don't you wish you could control the weather. ? Have a great railroad day. 🙋♀️🚂
Thanks, you too! Yes, I wish I could do that
Don’t have to say sorry in your videos awesome job 🙌🙌🙌🙌
I appreciate that
Busy train day. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
You bet
Thank for showing the rail size, that was Dudley rail #127, probley ex NYS.
Thanks for the info 😊
One of the covered hoppers had The Rock logo on it. I grew up within site of the Rock Island double main line in northern Illinois. Cool to see it still lives.
Thanks for watching 😊
Those square wheels keep the Loram rail grinder in business.
Also the shop guys 😅
Cool horn salute from CSX.
It sure is!
Hey there Mr. jaw tooth 🦷 thanks again for another good train 🚆 video. You really do Rock 🚆🚆🚆💯💯🦷🦷🦷
Thanks again!
120 train and thanks you my friend it me Eric 1 love.👍😁👍👍😉👍
Thank you 👍
It has been very windy here lately in Ohio. Love your videos ❤
Thanks 😊
First time I've seen a two digit numbered locomotive, on your channel.
Cool! I think I have a single digit CSX going into a tunnel
Another fun video a lot of train action. Thanks jaw tooth
That you JT your videos are always so got d.
Hope you're having a great day jaw tooth, surprised they don't keep those out of service tracks and use them for storage.
A short line railroad would do that. CCET does that on sidings near my area
