  • These cross cut saws are made in Sheffield, England and feature teeth that can be sharpened, which is actually a rare commodity as a lot of saw blades made today are impulse hardened and are not meant to be sharpened. This one is.
It features a 'Great American' or 'Crown' tooth pattern, and an accessory handle which can be placed near the front if you are using it solo, or near the end if you want to use it with 2 people.
This saw is excellent for going through larger diameter wood, or for processing firewood if you are bucking things up and don't feel like taking out the chainsaw.
If you are looking for an heirloom quality saw, check out the Lynx 3ft Crosscut Saw.

The factory sharpening is kind of meh. Once properly jointed, filed, and set they cut ok. The tooth pattern makes for easy starting in smaller diameter logs.

What's the advantages for the different tooth pattern options?

More efficient cutting - generally speaking, crown toothing is better for dry hardwoods, champion/tuttle toothing better for softwoods/green woods. An excellent resource for all things crosscut saw can be found here: www.fs.fed.us/eng/pubs/pdfpubs/pdf77712508/pdf77712508dpi72.pdf

I just don't understand why this great American tooth pattern even exists, compared to a tooth pattern with raker tooth this concept is a joke. A crosscut saw with rakers is so much more effective. Can someone explain that to me.
