    Challenge video with the theme of water. Sorry, but didn't turn out the way I wanted...
    This video is for entertainment only! This is just the way I do this. Develop your own style and technique with your lathe and tools. This is not an instructional video. Be safe and keep turning…

    I have seen fractal burning first time on your channel and it creates such a stunning effect. Great job!

    Really like both but my favorite is actually the walnut. Love seeing people expanding their selves with these challenges. You did good, Rick. Thank you for sharing your creativity with me. Stay safe, Vickie

      Thanks Vickie. I preferred the walnut also but the burns just weren't deep enough. I really liked the idea and felt it was a good one but just didn't happen! We'll try again sometime! Thanks again for watching, Rick

    They look great, Rick! I’ve always loved the fractal burning and watching it. Not sure I’m quite ready to try it, but I like watching. This challenge has made me do things I never would’ve tried, also. But I’m enjoying it so far. 👍🏻

      I hear ya. With my luck though, the next 4 months will be resin 😬

    Looks great Rick. Beautiful wood. That's what I like about the challenge, it gets us to try something different that we may not have tried before, but all the while we are learning in the process. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

    Great bowls Rick, a real shame at how the blue did not come out the way you wanted it. The Red Cedar is such a stunning wood and your other bowl looked amazing too, but as you know, water was not within reach this time and that is all good, you have some great bowls and now have the skills and knowledge of what can be done.
    Keep on turning.
    Cheers, Bluey 👍

      Thanks Bluey, felt I had a good idea, just didn’t turn out. Think maybe a blue with pearl highlight might show better with a deeper burn. We’ll keep trying! Thanks again, Rick

      Thanks Annette, your very kind. Really struggled with this project but we’ll try again too. Hard to improve on cedar though haha. Thanks again.

    Really nice bowl mate ! I really enjoyed the video and the fractal burning is interesting. Just a tip, if you used blue mica powder (in the resin) instead of dye it would have been blue because the mica powder is a blue solid/particles and the black wouldnt have come through. Cheers Mate !

      Thanks Dave, resin/epoxy and colors aren’t my strong point but I like the idea of highlighting the fractal burns (although they really are cool as is). We’ll keep trying!

    I like it, Rick! Might not have turned out the way you wanted, but is still a really nice piece! Pushing our selves is where it's all at!!!
    Do you clean out the burn channels with a brush or anything before you use the resin?

    • @woodentreasurestn
      @woodentreasurestn  3 роки тому +1

      I so like the idea of using ourselves too! Iwould've tried if I wasn't apart of the challenge haha. I did clean out burns with a wire brush and noticed all the char that came out and gave me more spare to fill. I just got too aggressive with sanding, should have started with higher grit and approached slower. We'll try again someday!
