So the Empire is actually pretty evil (hot take I know). However I do think there is a lot of potential to explore the benefits they provided to the poorer more lawless areas of the galaxy. There is a character in the books named Rae Sloane who if I recall correctly came from a planet that was controlled entirely by criminal elements. When the Empire took over they brought law and order to the planet. Obviously the end result of what the empire did was still evil as a whole, but I think it's interesting to also explore how they would have been perceived on planets that where poorly managed or outright dangerous.

If Ubisoft do one thing well, it's environments, especially those based on existing lore or on historic sites. They're far from Rockstar's level in terms of stories and characters. But they do try different things, as with Assassin's Creed since Origins. It's nothing revolutionary, but thatvis not what you expect from AAA games these days. They have listened to feedback on their games and tried to improve for the next iteration. Essentially, all the major gripes and frustrations with Far Cry 5, for example, were addressed and fixed one way or another in Far Cry 6. Now, I cannot speak to quality on launch. Most times, I will get their games when on sale, so months after launch, and my experience has been good. To me, how good or bad the launch is will determine how well I perceive Ubisoft's dedication to shareholder value rather than to the long term success of their company and respect for the average customer. Their respect for "whales", well that is a different story. Anyway, I don't expect anything extraordinary with Outlaws. I don't expect anything controversial, any real social commentary, or any major innovation. I expect it to be "safe" and familiar, but still fun and worth playing in the end. Will it be worth the asking price on launch? I don't know. Will it be worth the super pricey deluxe pre-order, or whatever they call it? Absolutely no, hence my earlier comment on whales. So I will probably end up playing it at some point. I will just wait for initial reviews to determine how much it will be worth to me, which will drive the price that I will wait for the game to reach before I jump in.
Welp, Star Wars: Outlaws feels like they put Assassin's Creed Mirage into Star Wars movement is similar (less parkour but that's obvious), some animations for climbing ledges and stuff are straight up ripped from an Assassin's Creed game. There are neat things like affiliation to what syndicate you choose, be it the Hutt Cartel, Pikes, or the Crimson whatsits.
It's a pipe dream but I wish for a Monolith developed Star Wars game, they have a blatant love for SW already and they're already so familiar with scifi, alien worlds and space tech in some of the best open world games anyone's ever made But the philosophy around how SW games get made makes it pretty much impossible
"Uninspired" is the best way of simplifying and encapsulating the general issue with Ubisoft's games as well as many other companies just like them. I don't know whether it's a failure to learn or a failure to care, but the idea that inspiration can't be manufactured, it can only be enabled, never seems to be fully processed and integrated by the industries who are completely reliant on the concept in order to produce the commodities in which they traffic.
