- (Part 1)When I started my journey of buying a house in Hawaii, I was clueless, and I didn’t know who to ask or where to go. I turned to UA-cam to see if other people share my struggles and what did they do about it? Unfortunately I did not find too many videos about buying a house in Hawaii in the area that I liked which is big island of Hawaii, so I promised myself if I ever do it, I will make a video which might help other people in their journey. And here it is, there are videos and pictures of before, and after explaining all the struggles I had to go through and all the challenges. Hope you find it useful and entertaining.

I understand, Hawaii gets in your blood. The land, the weather and the people make Hawaii such a Paradise. Welcome to the Big Island, Nastaran. I have lived here since 2014 and no desire to leave.
Oh wow since 2014. Whenever I go to Mainland I feel like I left a piece of my heart behind. Thank you for watching and your comment
I feel the same way about Hawaii. I have the deepest desire to be there. Congratulations on your beautiful home.
Aloha Antonia. Needing Hawaii is such a strong feeling and I wish you get to visit soon. Thank you for your beautiful comment. Mahalo
Word of advice; lots of homeless live in the jungles around that side of the Big Island. They usually rob houses of people who dont live there full-time, so if you are vacationing for any long length of time, or your neighbors dont like you id expect your house to be robbed at some point. From what I understand, they wont rob you physically; but your stuff if left unattended will be gone. Also; id also check what Lava Zone you are in, in order to get an expectation of potential issues with that. Lastly; make sure you double check your homeowners insurance.
Aloha to you and thank you so much for your comment. I appreciate your advice. I have a neighbor who is in my house every day and takes care of things. Plus I have a security system with lots of cameras as well. Unfortunately, theft and burglary are Common there with increased drug activity. I’m so lucky to have such good neighbors who are always watching and helping each other. Yeah the lava zones can matter in your homeowners insurance and they are not cheap at all. Mahalo for watching and have a beautiful day.
@@Nastaran.Battles My sister and her husband really wanted to buy there but this was a dealbreaker for them, but I am glad you got it figured out!
I was gonna post this same thing. I retired from insurance claims in the state, you need to be cautious sometimes the whole house is cleared out of contents in these remote areas. Lotta unsavory types move to south big island.
@@mymelt1770 Absolutely true. Unfortunate that some people can do so many horrible things and be very aware. Thank you so much for watching.
Love your story!!!! Thank you for sharing all the details;) I’m smiling ear to ear thinking about how things can fall in place …. with a lot of effort and patience! 🙌
Awe thank you Toni. This house is really coming along beautifully but still has a lot of improving and TLC. Every time I’m there I do some fixing but the garden takes the most work which I love
im so happy for you! cant wait to see your journey moving forward. ❤😊🎉
Aloha. I appreciate your kind words, and thank you for watching
I find your channel and posts so relaxing and beautiful! Love you my Nastaran❤
I appreciate you watching. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
I’m so happy to see your story and how happy you are!! We love you and Mike VERY MUCH!! Aloha 💕 (maybe one day…)
Awe thank you Steve so much. We love you and Michi so much as well. I imagine you both miss Hawaii so much also . Thank you for watching
What a great video. Nicely done. So glad for you both to have found what makes you both feel at HOME, and good about the journey. Looking forward to the coming videos about how the new home takes shape. And of course the beautiful scenic videos you post. I am/was "Boone's Mom". I know you remember.
Is this Roni? The only mom of Boone I know is Roni
Yes it is...
@@1Toffeey Thank you so much for watching. Makes me so happy that you enjoyed. Hope to meet you one day. Many hugs
Aloha Nastaran, I must have missed this one, as I saw part 2, first😂. This was very interesting and thank you for sharing some nice details. Having wanted to live on the big island for many years now, and having looked at properties, I see exactly what you have gone through. Glad you stayed away from the property with all the pit bull dogs and noise, smart move👍👌🌴🌴 The feeling around your neighborhood is truly peaceful and so close to the water, for your daily walks👍😁🌴. I know that you and Mike are happy together in this beautiful place you have created for yourselves. In this troubled world of today, having your piece of heaven and companionship makes life so blessed-happy for you Nastaran! Mahalo for you and your sweat spirit and gentle ways! David from Oregon 😁🌴🌴🌴
Aloha Dave. You must’ve felt so confused about why I started babbling about the house with no introductions, but happy you found part one so now it starts to make sense a little bit I hope. I am so glad I did not settle with the house with nine pit balls also. Like one Neighbor told me one time in our area dogs are companion and pets and not a security system😁. Do you think you will ever retire in Hawaii? Or at least visit anytime soon?
@@Nastaran.Battles Aloha and thank you for the nice respond. I retired from the California Department of corrections. I was a correctional counselor/ peace officer for 25 years. I would move to Hawaii in a nanosecond 😉😉😁, however my children all live here and my wife -loves it there- but this is home for her and her connections. I guess that’s the way life goes sometimes. I do enjoy living there through your eyes and feelings and videos. I’m sure I will visit again sometime, as my last visit was for two week about august of last year. Thank you again for your sweet and caring conversations and your video content. Until next time😁🌴🌴🥰
lived in Honolulu for 11 years.... and I still yearn for my home. I live in Colorado now. Still trying to get back home.
Wow I bet you left a part of your heart in Hawaii. You must have awesome memories. Mahalo for watching
@@Nastaran.Battles I literally left my whole heart there. I met people from all over the world, worked for the largest law firm in Hawaii, modeled part time for Barbizon and met friends that remained friends, even after I left the island. Whatever you do, NEVER leave. My life has been good in Colorado, I finished my college degree, bought a home, and had an enjoyable career as a Software Developer for the past 24 years. And yet, I still yearn for home. I have traveled back to the Islands about eight times since leaving. Mostly I visit Kauai, because it is my favorite Island. I have never been to the Big Island. Only, Maui, Kauai and Oahu. I am thinking about retiring on Maui. Enjoy Hawaii, it is truly a magical place. When I was there, I felt like Alice in Wonderland.
I enjoyed hearing your story and look forward to seeing your improvements as you go . Are you planning to create an art studio?
Also ha. Thank you for your comment. You know I wasn’t planning on it but I must say that I really like that idea. Thank you for putting that thought in my head and I hope to hear from you in future videos.
Aloha neighbor, I’m down on beach Rd. In Wa’a Wa’a, Great story, congratulations
