It's crazy to me how none of the characters in this show seem to remember the rules for how vampires work specifically when it comes to Angel. Like it literally wasn't Angel who did all that evil shit.
When angel starts airing you got to watch both back to back there are a number of multi part episodes where one episode starts on buffy and ends on angel. There's even a 4 part episode run with 2 on Buffy and 2 on Angel that wouldn't really work if you just saw Buffy since it doesn't really have a climax
I've always had to mention on rewatches and stuff that though it's not explicitly stated throughout the episodes what happened to Jesse cemented Xander's feeling towards all vampires. He hates them. He blames them.
It always frustrated me how the scooby gang viewed angel. Should he and Buffy tempt fate when he could possibly lose his soul again? probably not. But if one of the group got put under a spell and killed a bunch of people, they would have no problem relieving them of their responsibility/guilt. Angel losing his soul is no different.
Yeah, except for the part where Angel (meaning his soul) is literally the spell Angelus (the actual vampire) was put under in order to make him docile. Technically the spell was lifted when he reverted to Angelus again. So your argument is kind of invalid.
This episode is basically the same as ep 2 of season 3. Here you have the scoobies yet again verbally attacking/ganging up on Buffy . Instead of maybe having an actual conversation and hearing each other out. Xander who obviously is still sore that (and still has a thing for Buffy despite having a girlfriend) not only does Buffy still have feelings for angel but she deliberately kept his return from him . Plus he witnessed them kiss. My problem with Xander is that he has little boy mentality. Meaning instead of accepting Buffy’s rejection of being in a romantic relationship like a man he instead decides to make thinly veiled passive aggressive comments/insults at Buffy whenever she makes the slightest mistake or more likely does something that he disapproves. Even though he has his own (very odd) love triangle going on with willow and Cordelia who he is dating . If this show was taking place in present times he would be an incel or ser criston from house of dragons but worse. At least ser criston had more of a romantic relationship with rhaenyra than Xander with Buffy.

Mark 25:50. Don't forget! For the series, "Angel", to be like an actual spin-off series, other characters from this series, will be making the move too! So get emotionally prepared for that as well. Meanwhile, Andy Rector's, workplace sitcom, poor guy, no one from either, "BTVS" or "Angel", even cameos! Just the workplace, makes it a shared universe and barely a crossover connection, to those that don't care about property, only characters. 🤔😏
The curse has been broken but Willow cursed him again. Jenny specifically researched the original curse that was put on Angelus and then Willow re-enacted it based on her research essentially re-cursing him. A natural state of a vampire is to NOT have a soul. And the curse is the only thing anyone there knew that worked in stuffing one into a vampire. And both Jenny and her Uncle are dead so it's not like they can ask for details of how it works. What Willow did is basically if you decided to build a medieval mill from scratch with nothing but vague replies you got on Reddit. it's amazing the curse even still worked at all considering neither Jenny and especially not Willow knew any intricacies of centuries old ritual.
In answer to an early-ish question: Yes, at least some (but not all) of the members of The Watchers Council Of Great Britain do tend, for some reason, to be British.
This is the episode where Xander pisses me off the most. He just LOVES that he found Buffy and Angel kissing. Cause now he can focus on that instead of the fact he's literally cheating on his own girlfriend. LIke i said in Dead Man's Party video Buffy isn't allowed to make mistakes like the rest of the group. Because Xander lives on moral superiority mountain and he has no business being there with his own shit. Fucking hypocrite made a love spell that nearly got people killed and aside from Giles no one else got on his case for that. But Buffy? OH NO GOD FORBID SHE BE A TEENAGER WHO MESSES UP EVER. The worst is he keeps bring up Jenny Calender. He rubs in her death on Buffy like she personally murdered her and it infuriates me.
I have made a list of favorite to least favorite of all BtVS episodes, AtS episodes, and their canon comics. Out of all 309 on the list, this episode is at 290. The only episodes we've seen so far lower than it : _Dead Man's Party._ And it is the next one down at 291. I've never been a big fan of the idea of a character knowing something to be true (as well as the audience members) while another or other character(s) are warned and disregard the information. In this episode's case I dislike the fact that Xander used Faith to have her go after Angel rather than telling her the truth when he could have ("Can I come?" - watch you kill Angel) knowing he wasn't Angelus. He only considers it wrong, and only tries to stop Faith, once Giles was attacked (but by then his encouragement has allowed Faith to think she is in the right). It isn't the exact same situation as say _Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix_ with the Minister not believing Harry that Voldemort is back, but with Faith being cut out of the group conversations, I, at least, understand her decisions. And, I would understand Xander's, except his decision to encourage Faith after being told Angel isn't Angelus was the cause of so much. Willow and Buffy are right to be upset with Xander, and he should be apologizing to more than Willow aka Faith. His actions led to Buffy and Faith's friendship being shaky and Faith distrusting the group. It also bugs me that he says in the last scene he trusts Buffy. Nothing he does in the episode shows he does.
@@ShieldVids He could’ve sat Buffy down and connected with her in a way that was respectful to her and her agency while also gently expressing his concerns. Also I think we’re supposed to wonder to what extent Xander’s concern has to do with his romantic jealously which to that point had been pretty well established.
I always wondered , was the idea of the glove a ripoff of the " Witchblade " ? Also , how is it that the Normies where still asking about the demon ? It was obvious that was a lie ...
They all know Buffy is being a little careless but for good reason and they would usually handle it better but for many reasons during this time they don’t but mostly because they are projecting their own guilt, incompetence, distrust on Buffy. Giles is in a mood because of Ms Post criticizing everything he does Willow and Xander feel guilty because of what they’re hiding & Faith has been told the Scoobies are hiding things from her making her feel like she doesn’t belong What a train wreck of communication it turns into and I feel Buffy is the only one that takes responsibility and is held accountable right now.
Xander is pretty unreasonable at times. But he’s a young insecure teenager. I love that he’s a flawed character. He’s a young and immature and when faced with adult like issues he shows it
Weird how the comments are saying “3 weeks ago..” when this was posted today. You guys should watch the pretty short series “Misfits,” a great British fantasy or sci fi show.
They release youtube edits earlier for people who sub to their Patreon so these comments are from that time. They just released Gingerbread today on Patreon
also, they did the first episode of misfits a few years ago on a trial basis and i didn't see any new reactions after that. could be that it just didn't click with them. it should still be searchable if you wanna look for it
It's the same curse, it has the same issue with him achieving true happiness. That's why she and Angel are so awkward around each other. It wasn't just the sex, it was sex with someone he truly loved and who truly loved him that gave him the happiness that lost him his soul. I don't think that anyone apart from Buffy has actually had sex yet (they are still 17 and I'm pretty sure 18 in the age of consent, although that rarely stops anyone). Cordy and Xander do a lot of kissing but I'm not sure it's going any further, I know Willow and Oz are taking it slow. Giles and Joyce are the only ones getting it on!
Yeah, everyone kinda ignored a clearly traumatized teen who's last Watcher was murdered, who had no family, support or money. Like, every ball was dropped regarding that plot point, except the idiot ball.
@@kypangoyi550 I mean, any of the adults could have stepped up, ideally Giles. He has a steady income from the school, and the council, and has room for Faith in his house. not saying she would have accepted it, but like, it's weird that it's never even brought up as an option. Clearly the council (or Giles) was involved enough to get Faith enrolled in school, yet didn't bother to give her a legal guardian or bother with any other support systems for her. Again, maybe overthinking it, but given later events...seems like it should have been addressed.
Mark 21:08. At some point they did speed up their theme tune. Compare and contrast to the, hauntingly beautiful melancholy of, "Angel's Theme", with the, Strings, and what sounds like a chorus of crying, Angels. 😇
Xander on point again this episode! Telling it how it is and doing what needs to be done. Also funny seeing all the "Xander is an incel/nice guy" and "he's jealous/still in love with Buffy" comments. Really tells everyone how little attention they paid to the show and Xander's character.
Agreed. Its like everyone conveniently forgets how ready Angel was to hand Xander over to Spike as a snack food last season. And that was with the soul in house. If a supposed ally handed me over to the enemy because their lover used me to make them jealous...I'd be a tad salty about it.
Thumb Up #804! 👍 Thanks! 🎬🖖✌️🙏😎🤓🤠😇 Notes: Sex out of wedlock, regardless of age? Well, it was the late, Barbara Walters, who explained it best, to the other panel members. (Ahem. I'll extrapolate!) What she said was simple. The Rich, can best afford it, in that if a child was born, they could afford it. Very important pre legal pregnancy abortions. Now it is very important again! The Poor, they can't afford it, hence so many methods existing to try and keep them from making their situation worse by having more mouths to feed. The Middle Classes? Variable. Each class has denominations designed to keep them sane rather than start wars to overthrow whomever is in the throne. Or in our case, the USA, from robbing from the, Rich, and keeping it for themselves. 🤔😏😁😉
Mark 16:34. Faith Lehane! Odd timing with her? Serendipity? I don't know about the production timeline here, behind the scenes. But one day it will seem like she suddenly has a thing for, Archery. 🏹 But back then, at some point, the actress that plays her, Eliza, was in the cannibalism movie, "Wrong Turn". Archery, helps her survive! I don't recall when the whole, "Archery Femmes", trend or fad began. 🤔😏 But I've always wanted to know which character learned it first and which one is the copy cat. It is like how, "April" & "Daphne", weren't, Fighters, until portrayed by, SMG. Then she went back to being the helpless, Damsel-in-distress, character, a medical nurse, in those Japanese ghost movies. Her sister is played by someone else from, "BTVS", who also can't fight! Did, SMG, give up combat roles when she became a mother? 🤔
Remember when Xander lied to Buffy and didn't tell her that Willow was trying the spell to return his soul, so she needed to draw out the fight? Neither do the writers apparently. I really can't stand Xander.
Revelations is an interesting episode as we get the gang finding out Angel is still alive, Willow and Xander contemplating an affair. It of course suits Xander to have Angel dead because even though he has Cordelia, and now nearly Willow, he is still madly jealous of Angel and Buffy and would drop both of those in an instant if Buffy wanted him. Great foreshadowing here again with Buffy and Faith. One thing about this show in particular is we have another English Baddie in Gwendolyn Post, along with Ethan Rayne, Drusilla and Spike etc. Faith referring to her as Mary Poppins was very funny. Another really good episode in S3 of which the quality of show improves leaps and bounds in a very near flawless Season.
Lots of Xander hate after this episode. He certainly has his flaws, but he'll always be one of my favorite characters. As petty and jealous as he can be sometimes, he's also has a reason to hate and mistrust vampires, which goes back to his friend Jesse. He has to believe that vampires are all evil or he can't live with himself for staking his friend. As much as we love some vampires as characters, it really would have been smarter for Buffy to kill Angelus and Spike when she had the chance. Someone had to bring up Jenny to remind us just how bad things can get if Angel loses his soul again, and Xander got the short straw this time. He's often the comic relief or the devil's advocate, but he's also a hero and a necessary part of the group.
Don't touch the mics, Rana. Every touch is fed into the microphone & into our ears. Or perhaps the editor can just silence Rana's voice track for that portion of the video? C'mon y'all, you've been doing this audio thing too long to allow audio mistakes like that from getting to the final cuts of these videos.
Yeah Xander Harris is the worst. yeah his concerns here were justified but Xander gets away with things that no friend with get away with in real life. If i had done half of the things and said half of things he said or did to someone i consider to be my friend, i would've lost that friend and some teeth.
Xander still jelly on Angel and Giles know better, immersion breaking ep when a long time Watcher does not know the difference of a demon controlling a body without a soul and a human soul suppressing a demon in the body
Ugh, I dislike this episode. Not very fun. Sad for Faith. I get that we need to see this, but I'm looking forward to almost every episode after this one. (Except Amends. It's important, but again not fun.) Watching just because I love the Normies.
Xander gets worse, imo over the course of the series. He does have moments but overall Xander is the ONLY character with no growth to me and that speaks volumes as he's mainly based on Joss Whedon himself.
he's based on how joss *perceived* himself. you're right, lots of food for thought there. and i would like to have a discussion about the comics/irl parallel in the comments when it no longer involves spoilers

Mark 6:20. Howdy! 🤠. No pun intended with that remark about the stool size? 🤔
At least ser criston had more of a romantic relationship with rhaenyra than Xander with Buffy.
he has a girlfriend AND a side piece and he still acts like he has a claim on buffy
@@ma-ri-ko Exactly. If I were Buffy I would’ve layed all his shit bare since he wants to be petty Well two can play at that game. As the great Bruno mars once said don’t believe me just watch.
The "Jack Shepherd punch" I love it 🤣❤
What Willow did is basically if you decided to build a medieval mill from scratch with nothing but vague replies you got on Reddit. it's amazing the curse even still worked at all considering neither Jenny and especially not Willow knew any intricacies of centuries old ritual.
when "That's a massive stool" is actually not talking about 💩
How are you going to handle when Angel starts his series? There are crossover episodes.
Naked Angel is always attractive to watch. Hope after this season you will react to Angel spin off show!
Lot of surprise too
Willow put the same curse on Angel again. So yes same rules apply.
Love your reactions to the Willow/Xander scenes, especially Pat's. 🙈😆
In answer to an early-ish question: Yes, at least some (but not all) of the members of The Watchers Council Of Great Britain do tend, for some reason, to be British.
“Madame, I never” 🤣
Serena Scott Thomas, Kristine's sister.
Lagos was the demon that Buffy beheaded with the ax
Oh, I'm strapping in, 'cause there's a strip of bangers incoming. 🤩
lmao Rana dont play with the microphone, headphones pick that up like crazy
That scorpion kick what Faith did to angel, that one of the best part of this episode
The old intro WAS a different rendition of the song. The drums were a TAD bit softer and the guitars were more like crunchy
The stunt work/swaps get exponentially better in 4th season and she'll do more on her own.
Thank you.
Xander was so annoying in this episode bruh Buffy should of beat his ass for talking to her like that.
He's in not wrong tho
@@ShieldVids He has no room to talk is the point
@@mamaslillele Anyone who Angelus would go after has room to talk. Buffy is acting like that can't happen when it's not true.
@@ShieldVids He could’ve sat Buffy down and connected with her in a way that was respectful to her and her agency while also gently expressing his concerns. Also I think we’re supposed to wonder to what extent Xander’s concern has to do with his romantic jealously which to that point had been pretty well established.
@@mamaslillele why? If she is hiding it she needs a talking to from everyone. Did you see how bias she was against him.
I always wondered , was the idea of the glove a ripoff of the " Witchblade " ? Also , how is it that the Normies where still asking about the demon ? It was obvious that was a lie ...
faith should of trusted buffy before her new fake watcher ,in my opinion
yeah, but she doesn't trust anybody
@@ma-ri-ko yep😞sadly
Lago was the demon Buffy chopped the head off of.
They all know Buffy is being a little careless but for good reason and they would usually handle it better but for many reasons during this time they don’t but mostly because they are projecting their own guilt, incompetence, distrust on Buffy.
Giles is in a mood because of Ms Post criticizing everything he does
Willow and Xander feel guilty because of what they’re hiding
& Faith has been told the Scoobies are hiding things from her making her feel like she doesn’t belong
What a train wreck of communication it turns into and I feel Buffy is the only one that takes responsibility and is held accountable right now.
Spidey spitting facts
Xander is pretty unreasonable at times. But he’s a young insecure teenager. I love that he’s a flawed character. He’s a young and immature and when faced with adult like issues he shows it
The power glove.
Loved it
Xander is so god damn INSUFFERABLE 😩. Every moment he suffers is such a delight for me
In the 90's!!!!
Gettin down!!!!
Weird how the comments are saying “3 weeks ago..” when this was posted today. You guys should watch the pretty short series “Misfits,” a great British fantasy or sci fi show.
They release youtube edits earlier for people who sub to their Patreon so these comments are from that time. They just released Gingerbread today on Patreon
also, they did the first episode of misfits a few years ago on a trial basis and i didn't see any new reactions after that. could be that it just didn't click with them. it should still be searchable if you wanna look for it
Willow out here calling sneaking around with Xander "sexier" and nobody cringed lmao
Why doesn’t Buffy invite Faith to stay with her and her mom rather than that cheap hotel? That’s the goodwill gesture that should have happened.
Yeah, everyone kinda ignored a clearly traumatized teen who's last Watcher was murdered, who had no family, support or money. Like, every ball was dropped regarding that plot point, except the idiot ball.
It’s really not Buffy’s call.
@@kypangoyi550 obviously she’s ask Joyce first but I really doubt Joyce would have a problem with it given the situation
I'm not allowed to tell you
@@kypangoyi550 I mean, any of the adults could have stepped up, ideally Giles.
After the fall of the soviet union-
Mark 21:08. At some point they did speed up their theme tune. Compare and contrast to the, hauntingly beautiful melancholy of, "Angel's Theme", with the, Strings, and what sounds like a chorus of crying, Angels. 😇
True Blood is great in its own way.
it's campy fun and aged like milk. some shit was rancid even when it was airing, but i don't regret watching it
It is however, the market substitute for all other vampire shows🤔
Why is the first time I'm hearing about your One Piece read along when you are 11 videos in and the first 10 videos are unavailable?
Xander on point again this episode! Telling it how it is and doing what needs to be done.
Also funny seeing all the "Xander is an incel/nice guy" and "he's jealous/still in love with Buffy" comments.
Really tells everyone how little attention they paid to the show and Xander's character.
Agreed. Its like everyone conveniently forgets how ready Angel was to hand Xander over to Spike as a snack food last season. And that was with the soul in house. If a supposed ally handed me over to the enemy because their lover used me to make them jealous...I'd be a tad salty about it.
@1986bab actually something I forgot about. You raise a really good point!
Thumb Up #804! 👍 Thanks! 🎬🖖✌️🙏😎🤓🤠😇
Notes: Sex out of wedlock, regardless of age? Well, it was the late, Barbara Walters, who explained it best, to the other panel members. (Ahem. I'll extrapolate!)
What she said was simple.
I actually don't think those stools are big. SMG is just incredibly tiny.
Mark 16:34. Faith Lehane! Odd timing with her? Serendipity? I don't know about the production timeline here, behind the scenes. But one day it will seem like she suddenly has a thing for, Archery. 🏹
But back then, at some point, the actress that plays her, Eliza, was in the cannibalism movie, "Wrong Turn". Archery, helps her survive! I don't recall when the whole, "Archery Femmes", trend or fad began. 🤔😏
But I've always wanted to know which character learned it first and which one is the copy cat.
Mark 14:38. "She's dead!" Insert Joss's name. Resume. 🤔 Hmm. Okay, I don't get that joke. 😏😁
I ship Faith and Buffy but thats just wishful thinking lol
Hello guys. 2 to go 🐰
Remember when Xander lied to Buffy and didn't tell her that Willow was trying the spell to return his soul, so she needed to draw out the fight?
Neither do the writers apparently. I really can't stand Xander.
Please watch Grimm
💖💖💖
Aaand this is why I can't stand Xander. "Did you accidentally fell onto his lips?"....Or whatever he said. Sheer hypocrisy.
Who said it's just a series for teenage girls?
It's definitely written in that fashion.
He does have moments but overall Xander is the ONLY character with no growth to me and that speaks volumes as he's mainly based on Joss Whedon himself.
he's based on how joss *perceived* himself. you're right, lots of food for thought there. and i would like to have a discussion about the comics/irl parallel in the comments when it no longer involves spoilers
rubbish. early s3 is xanders lowest for behaviour. he clearly improves as a person after. idiotic to pretend he somehow gets worse???
Mark 17:56. "That's for referring to us gals as 'guys'!" 😉
one of the many reasons i hate xander is shown in this ep, hes so insufferable and his jealousy cause buffy keeps picking angel over him is just ughhhhhhh i hated him so much on my first watch through
