What do you guys think about this sound box design? It folds up very flat and seems to work pretty well! Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts!
How about a box inside of a bigger box? With dedicated exhaust and intake. Both with a muffling system. At best with a catalytic converter for friendly neighbours
Here's the conversion you asked for at 3:33. A 7" fan moving air at 8.9 mph should be about 209 cubic feet per minute. Here's my math. Using Pi x r^2 for area of a circle: Pi x (7"/2 x 1'/12")^2 = 0.267sq.ft. as the area of the 7" fan in square feet. The speed in ft/min is 8.9mi/hr x 5280ft/mi x 1hr/60min = 783ft/min. So 0.267sq.ft. x 783ft/min = 209cu.ft./min.
If you made some ribs on the inside so it wasn't straight that would soften the sound also. In addition if you were to make the box not perfectly square that would help with the sound as well.
If I were going to build a box, that is bigger, I would probably use 7/16 OSB. The only problem I see with making a larger box is it would require more than one sheet of sheathing. If a 6000 Watt is the same height as the 3500 Watt in the video then one sheet might work. as far as the design goes, it should work fine!

That sound box is a winner 💯
I agree! Any significant reduction with a box that is portable that someone will ACTUALLY use is a winner! Thanks for the comment.

Very interesting and good coverage with testing
We really tried to keep this testing simple and accurate to cover the basics. Thanks for watching!
This works much better than previous versions. What's the deplsible count when the machine is off then on and then with the box?
I would love to see a box with it lined with rockwool insulation.. :) i bet you could build a 4 walled box with venting and get better performance..
it would probably absorb the humidity

Thanks for the math! That little fan really moves some air!

I loved this guy in the National Lampoon Vacation movies!
Is there a video showing how this is built and what materials to purchase? Thnx!
Here is the build video for this box ua-cam.com/video/erA944a9Bvc/v-deo.htmlsi=neug1Njyb8astNJy
Great info Mr, Fred. How effective would this set up be for a larger 6000 watt generator ?? Thanks...!!!

Do you have a video on how you made that box
Absolutely! It’s right here ▶️ua-cam.com/video/erA944a9Bvc/v-deo.htmlsi=BHyRB5tMGgq1eXCV
Run the exhaust into a bucket of water.
Ten facet jest głośniejszy od tego agregatu
