Great job of explaining how to accomplish this task. I actually have a different model Epson printer than you're demonstrating with. I own an ET-4760 Ecotank printer. But Epson's video is not as good as your video. You helped me understand that I needed to lift both sections of the scanner unit and force it open past the resistance point until the scanner unit stayed in place in the upright position. This is different from just lifting up the top scanning plate. I had a difficult time making the scanner unit stay in place in the upright position. I hope my comment helps other people. Some videos are much more helpful than others.
Thanks! It looks simple but if something can get screwed up...I am the person who can do it! Watching this made me feel much more confident as I filled my new Epsom EcoTank Printer. Greatly appreciate your taking the time to do this for folks like me.
Perfect instructional video. Straight to the point, clear and concise. Also, we didn’t have to first learn about the history of inkjet printers. 😂 Thanks!
Thanks for a good tutorial, nice steady and precise talking. My printer is the ET-7700, we followed your video. All set now for the next 4 years. Greetings from N/W England
I watched the video, no mystery remains, I changed ink with no mess and no parts on the floor. Good video! Thank you. Yes, I had to gently lift both top section until it remained up. Down in one motion. Ink fills promptly, I did tap the bottle to start flow. No part of this required any extra effort.
I cannot get my black to refill. I place the black ink bottle correctly, but no black ink will flow into the printer. What should I do. It is only happening with the black.
Your video was very helpful to what I was wanting to know, that the tanks wont overflow & automatically stops filling when full enough. Even If there’s Ink at the bottom first line. Thank you!!!
Thank you for the easy demonstration and explanation of how to refill the ink! I couldn’t figure out how to do it myself, and heard someone say it could get really messy. No problems following your instructions. 😊
very good video, you are very clear in your explanation. The audio however sounds as if there is an echo, so I had to repeat a number of times to understand what you are saying. maybe a better microphone or maybe a non echo room, not sure. but other than that, your video was great.
The Epson videos are for filling ink on a new printer and all their videos say you need to charge the ink. Do we have to charge ink when refilling a tank whether all or a portion of a tank?
What's the difference between 502 and 542 ink? Looking at the et-15000, which comes with 502, but it's said that people like using 542 instead. Why is that? Both say pigment, but is one different than the other?
very useful video , i would like to know if after the initial set up its a good idea to fill up the ink tanks with the remaining ink thats left on the bottles..
This might be a stupid question, but I was just wondering - after I've filled all my ink tanks initially, some ink gets used after the printer charges the print heads (or does something like that), so I see the ink levels have gone down almost one line. There was some ink leftover in each of the bottles after initially filling - can I now use the rest of the ink in these bottles to fill the tanks up a bit again? Or is it recommended to only fill the tanks when they are almost empty?
I own an ET-4760 Ecotank printer that uses the same type of ink. You do not have to worry about mixing the ink in the incorrect container. The ink bottles are uniquely slotted and are not interchangeable.
You would think so, but I’ve seen someone manage to force the wrong colour toner into an $10,000 copier to the point it registered it as installed then proceeded to print causing the complete malfunction of the machine. These toners were also keyed!
The tops of the bottles are notched differently so they will only fit on their corresponding "tank". There should not be a situation where ink is put into the wrong color tank.
You should have mentioned resetting the ink levels. This can be done by going to 1. Home 2. Maintenance 3. Reset ink levels 4. Next (assuming tanks have just been filled) 5. Selecting the colors that were just filled 6. Reset
Other than the fact that there are color on the bottle to match the one on the printer. You can't really make a mistake filling yellow into magenta cause the 2 keys around the bottle neck are all different and will only match their corresponding color tank lock so you can't insert a color in the wrong tank ;) .
Because you get heaps more ink in the ink bottles than you do in an ink cartridge. For example, with my Brother printer, the ink cartridges hold 7.5 ml of ink. A bottle of the Epson ink is 70 ml and the ink tank holds around 65 ml. So you can see from this where the savings come from.
I have an EPSON ET-2760, and it's basically impossible for me to see how much ink is in my ink tanks. The plastic is too thick or something... Even if I use a flashlight to try to illuminate it--I have no idea how much ink is in my printer 'cause I can't see it. Also--I tried putting more ink in my printer, and all I'm getting right now is black ink prints... They need to re-design the EcoTank a bit. I haven't even printed a bunch and I'm not really getting any color prints... Pretty disappointed. I wonder if my ink dried out--I feel like I shouldn't have had to buy more ink this soon... If they redesign one thing about the EcoTank, it should be the plastic that holds the ink. It needs to be easier to see through so one can better know how much ink is in their printer.
Remove the filler cap from the bottle and check that there is not a plastic cover that you have to pierce first before you insert the bottle into the printer. I did have that problem.
very helpful thank you. I have one concern though. What happens once most of the ink has been used but not all and I want to refill the inks with new bottles. Is there a risk of overflowing the tanks?
I'm having the same issue with my printer. This will be the second time refilling with the first set of bottles, but nothing is filling into the tanks and just slightly pooling around the nozzle at the top. Any suggestions?
TIP: DO NOT throw away the empty Epson ink bottles; SAVE THEM! Why? Well for one, the bottles are DUMMY PROOF. Each bottle will only fit in one of the tanks. There is no way to make a mistake by putting the wron color in the wrong tank because of the tabs on the side of the tops. So when filling the tanks, you can use refillable ink that come in 500ml bottles.
Exactly what I was looking for. So, we can refill the cartridge with local cheaper ink as well, right or we need to refill only exclusively with Epson ink that would be costlier in comparison. Please clarify.
I was wondering the same thing. At what point can I "refill" to get rid of the little extra I have in each of the bottles after the initial fill. I suppose I could try after some ink has gone down some (it already did with the first fill) but would love to know if there is a particular line on the tank to consider or not.
@@jeffgoode3411 You can refill whenever you wish. I usually wait until the tank is around half full, then top-up. That way the tanks never run dry and I can also check I have sufficient ink left in the bottles for the next refill (or buy more as needed)
Don't let it go empty, when it gets to the bottom line, refill. Myself I was confused with instructions. It seems the power is not supposed to be ON when originally filling, but then the power was on for this instrcuction.
Best explanation ever. Most other people don't show how to open the ink tank. You are the best. Thank you.
Thank you so much! This made my first time filling the ink sooooo easy and unstressful! You made it so simple!
Thank you! I've been putting off refilling the tank because I couldn't figure out how to do it. 😊. Very clear video.

Simple and clear. Followed your instructions and I did it in 3 minutes. Thanks!
Your demos settled my mind about using liquid ink in my new hp printer. I had visions of ink spills all over the interior. Thanks!
Nice job. Good camera work, clear slow instructions, thanks!
Thanks for your clear, concise tutorial. After watching it, I refilled the ink without a hitch.

I followed along with you and found your video to be clear and concise. Thanks for your work!

And after that what, do we have to reset the ink counter or what?
Straight forward and easy to follow when I needed it 😎
Thank you for your easy to follow instructions! Much appreciated!

I have the same problem
I am having the same problem.
I had this happen 😂 I still had the plastic seal on the bottle 😂😂😂

Same

Straightforward and Useful, Thank you GEO.
THANK YOU! This video made it super clear and easy to refill my ink!

I wanna say Ty I couldn’t figure it out for months and you helped so Ty
Si How many photos or pages can you print with the Eco tank ?

I have an older model Epson ET-2500. Can I use the new inks which have different numbers on the bottles now?
Very clear information. Thank you very much.
what do you do if the ink doesn't drain out and the window is visually empty?
Printers plugged up. Take it back to costco
very useful video , i would like to know if after the initial set up its a good idea to fill up the ink tanks with the remaining ink thats left on the bottles..
Do you have to fully fill the tanks or can you just put a little in?
what do i do if i bought the wrong bottle
i just got new ink for my printer and the bottle don't fit at all am i missing some thing??
Thank you for a great tutorial. Appreciate you!
Ink does not flow into tank. Cannot find help to explain this.
Actually, just push straight down
I had the same problem and out of frustration. I pushed it straight down and it seems to have made a big difference.
will the tank accept ink from a large bottle
Is 502 ink the only usable ink for this printer model or can I use a different epson ecotank ink such as 102 or104?
Thanks you clear and to the point!!!!!
It wasn't clear whether the fill process stops automatically when the tank is full.
You’re a life saver, thank you

Yes you can
Thats what the directions tell you to do!
Thanks for the great explanation. i have successfully done it.
Very easy guide to follow!
Great video! Thank you so much.

I love eco tank printers. I usually buy OEM ink from ebay it's a lot cheaper than buying brand new and it lasts a long time.
The tops of the bottles are notched differently so they will only fit on their corresponding "tank".
There should not be a situation where ink is put into the wrong color tank.
Thanx : You Are "The Man" .
Thank you for this, exactly the instructions I needed :)
What do you do when you need to refill the black ink BUT... the ink DOES NOT flow from the bottle into the ink tank ????
seems to be a common problem
You should have mentioned resetting the ink levels. This can be done by going to 1. Home 2. Maintenance 3. Reset ink levels 4. Next (assuming tanks have just been filled) 5. Selecting the colors that were just filled 6. Reset
also works with sublimation ink

Why is it more economical? Can you refill it several times with the same bottle?

So, Epson have changed the refills to make these incompatible with older Ecotanks

very helpful thank you. I have one concern though. What happens once most of the ink has been used but not all and I want to refill the inks with new bottles. Is there a risk of overflowing the tanks?
No risk it knows and auto stops filling
great job
Mine wont fill at all
On my printer, the black ink is low, but it will not flow. Do the fill ports ever get clogged?
Same issue
I'm having the same issue with my printer. This will be the second time refilling with the first set of bottles, but nothing is filling into the tanks and just slightly pooling around the nozzle at the top. Any suggestions?
Same issue, did anyone ever figure it out?
Thank you 🙏
THANK YOU FOR GREAT LEASON
eco tanks are OP thank god epson is legit still in a world full companies pushing dumb subscriptions
you are awesome.
I knew nothing like this or how to do it. I just bought a cartridge printer and it might be easier as I have a learning disability.

Thanks bro
Thanks a lot

It says in the title " How to refill....." but in the actual video, it only shows how to fill
This is being pedantic. The tank is empty. Filling or refilling works.
