It's 1130pm here, my wife got freaked out when I ran to get my headphones with the manic excitement of a 4 year old pulling up at the Zoo. "What's happened?" she asked. "Part 4 of the boat build!” I replied. Then the 5 words I never thought I'd hear... "Put it on the telly". Best. Day. Ever.

This is a beautiful boat! Not many things are prettier than a hand crafted wooden boat. If I may add a little food for thought, I wouldn't have used finish washers where bare feet or knees might land (as a boat owner since 1979). They distribute the load better than just screw heads but those are not highly stressed areas so the washers aren't necessary for strength. I would just countersink for flat head screws. Much easier on the flesh. Love your channel. Happy fishing!

Spectacular!! You are a very patient man! I am a sailor of many types of vessels, with many hours spent on the bow. For a moment when you were talking about the fly-deck, I was wondering if you thought you could stand up on that 1/4 plywood and fish. Thank God you're nowhere near the "chowder head" you joke about being! Can't wait for the splash! DD

@@prestonbowden Look, i'm a maker, you seem to be a maker. As a maker, the number one thing that bums me out, is when the price is discussed. Now, that's just me. Ok? To me, speaking of, asking about, or discussing price, with no intention of buying anything, is the absolute height of rudeness.
But hey, i'm 66. Maybe things have changed, i don't know, but as a seller of goods, my experience has always been, serious people never ask the price.
Naturally, at some point, it has to be asked, but in small ways, that particular point, again, to me, reduces the actual value of the thing being discussed, because now it's just a commodity.
One off pieces of work like this wonderful example of one strange man's desire to show off to the camera, while doing amazing things with wood occasionally, exist on their own plane.
      YMMV

    - I would suggest that you epoxy-paint the inside hull, ribs, floors and bottom, as it will get exposed to a lot of freshwater. Oil is not going offer enough rot protection. You can keep the floorboards and seats oiled or varnished, i.e. the removable parts) but not the entire inside of the boat if you want to use it in 5-10 years. FYI if you get water ingress in the plywood, it will degrade very fast.) Nice videos though

Nice job. I really, really like your boat.
BTW - You could put brass washers on the oarlock shafts, topside, just to keep the the oarlocks from grinding into the blocks. A better solution for wear prevention is to install oarlock bushings into the blocks (a stock item at most marine suppliers).

Mind Blown seeing Bourbon Moth and Rainfall know each other. Watched Rainfall projects for years. New to Bourbon Moth. Super cool. Love both channels!

Dude, you could make a vid about peeling potatoes and I'd still love it. You're fun listening to.
The fly deck is the absolutely coolest thing I've ever seen in a selfmade boat.
