It's 1130pm here, my wife got freaked out when I ran to get my headphones with the manic excitement of a 4 year old pulling up at the Zoo. "What's happened?" she asked. "Part 4 of the boat build!” I replied. Then the 5 words I never thought I'd hear... "Put it on the telly". Best. Day. Ever.
This is a beautiful boat! Not many things are prettier than a hand crafted wooden boat. If I may add a little food for thought, I wouldn't have used finish washers where bare feet or knees might land (as a boat owner since 1979). They distribute the load better than just screw heads but those are not highly stressed areas so the washers aren't necessary for strength. I would just countersink for flat head screws. Much easier on the flesh. Love your channel. Happy fishing!
I love how TotalBoat products show up on all the maker vids of UA-cam. I never knew of your products before but after Direstas videos and these videos, it’s actually the FIRST product i think of now.
Spectacular!! You are a very patient man! I am a sailor of many types of vessels, with many hours spent on the bow. For a moment when you were talking about the fly-deck, I was wondering if you thought you could stand up on that 1/4 plywood and fish. Thank God you're nowhere near the "chowder head" you joke about being! Can't wait for the splash! DD
So as a non-American, I love the touch of Old Ironsides in your boat. Washington was a heck of a first President, truly the right man at the right time. I hope your family enjoys the boat for years to come, about to embark on my first wooden boat build with my father and my son.
I've watched a fair few boat-build videos recently, and this series has been far and away my favourite. I've quite enjoyed your other vids too - keep up the good work dude. Happy boating

Really nice series thus far. I was looking forward for this episode. The colour is not what I would have chosen, but as you said, it is your boat. Great work
No no no, what have you done with the seat Jason? orange rope. The whole boat build has been great to watch, the attention to detail and the finish are great. Bring on part 5, I hope you have big doors on your workshop to get the boat out. Thanks for sharing
I’m not sure how free from tyranny and strife we are, but amazing job on that boat! I recently found a book on canoe building at a library book sale. Now I have my own dreams of building my own!
Incredible accomplishment. You are a true craftsman, Jason. I love all the little details. Seems to me that there should also be a video of you making a set of oars. You’ve come this far! She deserves a set of custom crafted oars too, don’t you agree?
That looks awesome! Have you thought about adding a chain locker or something to put an anchor in so you don't foul up the woodwork with an anchor/chain/rope?
Restored a 1962 Keith Steele many years ago so your new build process brought back a bunch of memories. Nothing as beautiful and user friendly as a wood driftboat. Nice job! Don't hit any rocks.

And in today's news. Suddenly the USS Constitution sinks unexpectedly to the bottom of the sea. Diver's find the cause of the boat sinking is due to an 8 inch strip of wood Suddenly missing from the Hull !!!. FBI are looking for any information that maybe of help!!!

The fly deck is the absolutely coolest thing I've ever seen in a selfmade boat.
