Aspects of Love is a musical with a book and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Don Black and Charles Hart. It is famous for the song "Love Changes Everything."
Based on the novella of the same name by David Garnett, the piece focuses on the romantic entanglements of actress Rose Vibert, her admiring fan Alex Dillingham, his underage cousin Jenny, his uncle George, and George's mistress, sculptor Giulietta Trapani, over a period of 17 years. The "aspects" of the title refers to the many forms that love takes in the show: love between couples, both as romantic infatuation and as married people; children and their parents; and hints of same-sex attraction (Giulietta and Rose).
Lloyd Webber was introduced to Aspects of Love in 1979, when he and Tim Rice were approached to write a few songs for a proposed film version. When nothing came of it, he suggested to Trevor Nunn that they collaborate on a stage adaptation. In 1983, they presented a cabaret of numbers they had written, but it was not until five years later that they tackled the project in earnest.[1] For the finished project, Lloyd Webber used at least five of the tunes he had written for the 1986 one-act musical Cricket, which he had written with Tim Rice.
Played this to my Dad hours before he died only 2 days after he lost his wife. It will be etched in my heart forever. RIP Mum & Dad 🥺❤
My sincerest condolences.
Your dad's passing after his wife just days after is a pure sign of hi precious and devoted love and companionship they had without any doubt. I hope you keep the tender memories of their pure love and install thier bond within your relationship with your lover
God bless you & your family 🙏🍀

I suggest for you to listen to Russell Watson: Someone to Remember and Josh Groban: To Where You Are. They were healing and helped me.
The best for ever
Can an audio recording of this event be purchased anywhere?
Not sure but you can make your own with a cable with a 3.5mm jack at each end plug one end into the headphone socket and the other into the microphone socket. Open sound recorder and youtube start both the recorder and the UA-cam video this should record it as a wma file and stop it on completion. I don't think you can hear the file as it is being recorded unless you have a headphone splitter.
@@philwatson6659 this also saves the whole show as one file but I think you would be able to split the file to individual songs at a later date. The full show does not fit onto a single audio cd as it is over 80 minutes long but can be put into an MP3 player
Never will get tired of seeing Glenn Close at the end admiring Michael's performance... One of those magical moments that only music can give us... Goosebumps every time I watch this!!!
See what you mean.
His voice is quite an instrument. One of the best male voices of all time.
I love she looks at him like ok here it comes you can do it and he hits the note
Exactly!
His voice beautiful and strong.
Just listened to a 2 hour Michael Ball concert. He said Andrew Lloyd Webber has written the perfect song, And this is it, "Love Changes Everything." He said he had sung it thousands of times. Keep on singing Michael, we love it too!!
Mr Lloyd Webber is one of my heros To hve such atalent .with the amazing Tim Rice is off the scale...Michael makes me blush (if you know what i mean!!!)
NOBODY sings this like Michael Ball.. nobody.
@@leecowell8165Michael Crawford does a spectacular rendition , as well.
Love Glenn Close at the end just watching Michael Ball finish the song like 'You go man, this is yours'
Soppy prick
Yes, it was heart warming.
@@nationaltrevor4131 There's always one toad, isn't there Trevor? Not so clever are you, Trevor?
Yes, that was my impression as well. Sweet!
I love how they 100% could have just used a different camera angle here but they left it in 😂 Glenn Close is such a gem. Of course so is Michael!
To see 2 DIVAS like Glenn Close and Sarah Brightman sharing a stage is such a treat. And Michael Ball is always a treat too! Wow.
and Elaine Paige - more of a diva/ star than Glenn and Sarah in the Lloyd Webber realm.
Don't forget Antonio Banderas! He brings an extra level of awesomeness to everything he touches!

I'm a Michael Ball freak & adore every song he sings this is awesome it's great how everyone joins in somewhere.
Women who loved women

Michael Ball could turn my world around ANYTIME HE WANTS!!!! Just the voice alone
Always loved Michael Ball.
Beautiful young man and has aged well.
I love this song and more so the lyrics. So incredibly true to life and true love. 💘
I used to listen to this when I was with a lady I fell in love with - but sadly nothing came of it!!
Nobody can sing this song, like he does!
Michael will last forever
Brigitte Felberbauer He is very good, also the other Michael , as in Michael Crawford.
Amazing group of gifted people !!

I love this song 💖💖💖💖🌹🌹🌹
Bless you Michael. Thank you so much for the beautiful music 🎵🎵🎵❤❤❤💖💖💖🌹🌹🌹🌹
So glad they let Michael Ball sing the signature ending without the other singers. It is a magnificent moment. I actually saw "Aspect of Love" in London with Michael Ball during dress performances and I cannot tell you how electric this song was when he sang it in the theatre. I had chills upon chills. His voice is an amazing instrument. He is one of the greatest voices to have ever graced the stage!
I saw it to were you disappointed he didn't reprise it at the end? Fantastic voice
The best make singer of all time.
Wow
So glad they let Michael Ball sing the signature ending without the other singers . Aspect of love to share how
He was very good in an otherwise dreadful production. That show was awful.
The voice, the tone is excellent, what a song. Such a pleasure to the ear. Well done!
It's true. When we love, we transform. In my case, it was the first time I heard Les Miserables. It made me change my views on the performing arts as a whole and introduced me to an entire culture of music. I can't afford Broadway tickets, but I devour any of these shows in the various collections I can find. Among my favorite birthday presents was when my family pooled together and bought me a ticket to see Cats while it was in our area.
Recently, I was pleased by my son on two separate occasions. One of the ladies at his daycare told me how surprised she was when she heard him singing "Do You Hear the People Sing?" to himself. And today, I was playing random music and this track came up and he asked me, "Hey, is that Michael Ball?"
Yes. Love truly does change everything, and it doesn't have to be love for a person.
Actually, it was from Aspects of Love, not Les Miserables You are not the first one to make a musical mistake, a questionmaster at one of our local pub quiz said it was Gilbert & Sullivan who composed Madam Butterfly, we all chorused at our table that it was Puccini.
@@fionajohnston Apologies for the confusion. I was trying to explain how the lyrics of this song don't need to translate to romantic love. I'm well aware this song is not from Les Miserables, but I would never have heard it had I not fallen for Les Mis in the first place and had my entire view on performing arts changed.
On behalf of Australia and New Zealand please accept my apologies for Russell Crowe’s appalling performance.
you shouldnt make yourself sound like one of the worlds most neediest....lots of kids wish they had some people to pool their monies to buy them some food
This happened to me too. But it started in a small country music club in California. Gary Morris had played Jean ValJean on Broadway, so he sang Bring Him Home. Just his beautiful tenor voice and his guitar. Now I have three Les Miz shows on DVD. Michael Ball is an amazing talent and my favorite. He doesn’t come to California and I will never be able to travel to London. Our paths will only cross on CD and Videos. Such a gifted performer. Please know I am sending prayers for healing to all in this world.
I love the way Glenn Close is watching him at end. It's like she's thinking "Have him washed and brought to my tent".
Good one 😊
LoL Why am I suddenly thinking of Elliot Gould and M*A*S*H? LoL
Love that!
She was literally sharing that moment with him.
@jake e well he is a sweaty slop of a man…😂🤣😂😂

Touched by an angel, that Michael Ball.
Apparently he never had a singing lesson in his life (at least before he became famous).
O que posso dizer, quando não existe uma única palavra para descreve-los!!!Só festa, Só beauttiful
I love Keating's wink at 2:18. Makes me smile each time.
ghanimajade Keating was cute. I also noticed he made a mistake just after that wink 😉

I love Michael's reaction! Talk about smiling with your eyes!
You mean 2:17.
And Aspects of Love will return to West End next year for a limited time only, so is Michael Ball this time as George. 😍
3.10 when Michael hits that note with that much power, Antonio Banderas turns round like “wtf?” Lol
No doubt you came to this planet to spread happiness! It is such a delight listening to your voice belting out those beautiful lyrics🙏🎶💕
Michael Ball is a consummate vocalist! What passion, what energy as he performs! Yes, “love” changes everything, brings you glory, brings you pain”. Michael owns this introspective and passionate song composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Thank you Andrew for your brilliant musical compositions! 🥰👍☺️
Words have no way to express how wonderful music is!
That gorgeous smile of Stephen Gately at 2:08. RIP sweet Stephen. Always loved.
An immortal song sung by Michael Ball.
Love, love changes everything
Hands and faces, earth and sky
Love, love changes everything
How you live and how you die
Love, can make the summer fly
Or a night seem like a lifetime
Yes love, love changes everything
Now I tremble at your name
Nothing in the world will ever be the same
Love, love changes everything
Days are longer, words mean more
Love, love changes everything
Pain is deeper than before
Love will turn your world around
And that world will last forever
Yes love, love changes everything
Brings you glory, brings you shame
Nothing in the world will ever be the same
Off into the world we go
Planning futures, shaping years
Love bursts in) and suddenly all our wisdom disappears
Love makes fools of everyone
All the rules we made are broken
Yes love, love changes everyone
Live or perish in its flame
Love will never never let you be the same
Love will never never let you be the same

This brings tears in my eyes every time i hear it... 👏👏👏👏

michael letting everyone know at the end....its his song
That's for sure. Glenn Close forgets to come in when they start singing again she is so enthralled by his voice. Fantastic!!
@@colbychildress5807 She's also probably thinking, "Thank God, they didn't get him to play Sunset's Joe Gillis."
Michael Ball is one badass. One of the greatest musical theatre singers ever
Why would Julian Lloyd Webber turn up wearing that. Dick
Demi Fowler phant0m the show must go on
It's a privilege to see Sarah Brightman, Elaine Page, Glenn Close and Antonio Banderas in the same stage!!
Awesome concert!
I will never get over Glenn close spacing out because of his voice only to be reminded that she is supposed to be singing ☺️
Wonderful to see all singing together.
Love changes everything!!! Your way of singing is the greatest. Your one of a kind Michael! I just love you! You’re one of the greatest singer of all centuries. You make me so happy just hearing you!!
Of course!!
Please support Musical Theater now and forever so as to be enjoyed by future generations!
why would we burden a future generation with this crap?!?
It's all opinion but personally I think this type of music should be enjoyed by as many generations as possible
The likes of Andrew Lloyd Weber, Tim Rice. Rogers and Hammerstein and other musical theatre greats should never be forgotten
Absolutely great performance. One of my favorite pieces of music.
I wrote this under another video of his with this song, I'll just say it again; IF Archangel "MICHAEL" had a voice .... THIS must be his !! Strong and beautiful
Notice Glenn Close at 03:10. Even Norma has to recognize.
Kevin Richardson why was Ms Close the only one in costume?
No idea. I haven't seen this presentation all the way through, but I wonder if her Sunset Boulevard segment was immediately before this. Maybe then they would have had her remain in costume as a practicality.
I have watched this over and over just for that moment.
@@ej3016 O.K so this reply is a year too late, I watched the full show on T.V when it aired, they are all as far as I can remember wearing the same clothes as when they did their part in the show.
No doubt the full show will be in segments on youtube?
Dave H have seen all the segments and she’s the only one “in costume” - think I would have remembered seeing Donny Osmond in his loin cloth as Joseph 😂🤣
You could just tell by the look on his face he was going to sing this 😂😍
As soon as he walked out with that look on his face, even before the first bar played, you knew what song was coming. What a performer!
Pure magic; thank you Michael, such a joy.
Do we just look over Andrew L. Webber wearing the Jersey to such a formal event. LOL
Love will turn your world around ,and that world will last forever!!!!

Great musical theater of the genius of Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice. Support it. Never let it die!
And the genius of Michael Ball of course!

Michael Ball = Greatest vocalist/singer ever
What a load of cobblers, I can name dozens with a better voice than Ball. He is good, that is it, not great. Pavarotti, Domingo, Sinatra, even Stephen Gately who is in the video had a better voice.
FKTS MOT ALAW WACCOE JIMMY 2 TIME 2 TIMES loved MUMP T the Numpty.
KBEES MOT lol
@@kbeesmot9928 What makes a singer great, then? For that matter, what makes a singer good? My point is, I think Mr. Nevarez was expressing his opinion and that can't be "a load of cobblers".
@@KeldorDAntrell What a load of cobblers, I think you will find he wrote his reply as a statement of fact. Had he started the reply with IMHO or punctuated his sentence with a question mark you may have a case.
@@kbeesmot9928 You think I will find that he wrote his *comment* (not reply) as a statement of fact? How will I find that? What is there in his comment that proves it? Nothing! There's no attempt whatsoever to even suggest that it's a fact e.g. comments about technicalities of singing such as breath control. Indeed, Mr. Nevarez has deliberately chosen to be as brief as possible. Logically, in the absence of any explanation in support of an assertion of fact, it can only be taken as mere opinion.
Now, since you seem intent on pressing the argument I suggest you support it with some evidence. I've explained why the comment can't be an assertion of fact. Now you explain why it can (if you can). :)
Michael Ball a voice from heaven-When the heck is he going to come to America-Argh!
He came to America in 2004 to do 2 concerts in Salt Lake City. I saw both concerts. He is amazing. Unfortunately he's never come back to do anymore concerts.

betty gordon, ames, iowa, usa
Michael Ball was truly touched by an angel to have such a voice. Became famous singing this role *without ever having had a singing lesson* ! Also, the man has been (maybe still is) a smoker even though he knows it's a huge taboo for a singer with his type of voice. A genuine gift of the gods!
this song is so well written love make changes in everyone who experience it or felt it
I know several of the people that join but does anyone have a list? Glen Close, Antonio Banderras, Donny Osmond, , etc... I could watch this over and over
Sarah Brightman and Julian Lloyd Webber, Bonnie Tyler and Dennis O'Neil, Elaine Paige and Antonio Banderas, Donny Osmond and Tina Arena, Boyzone, Glenn Close and Steve Balsamo. Mr Crawford!?
christoffel kotze ???
It's Mr Ball a stronger singer than Mr Crawford
He sings it better than Michael Crawford, and that's the biggest compliment I can give him, although what I wouldn't give for them to sing this together.
I absolutely adore this song, my favourite of all time. 😍
I've sung this and it's not easy. In the soprano version it ends on a top Bb. I'm glad I didn't have to play it because the version I have is in 6 flats with some weird key changes throughout. Despite that, it's a lovely song. Many people sneer at show songs and say they're not "proper" music but, having sung several of them, I can definitely say they're just as good as many operatic arias.
I sung this at a Busking competition at Newcastle University, I was at the Poly[now Northumbria University] There were fifteen competitors all doing their bit and I came 5th. That was good enough for me.
Some have got it whilst others don't.
Difference between a star and the rest is very apparent so don't beat yourself up.
Ditto to everything you said!
HE IS SO ADORABLE. THAT SMILE. THOSE DIMPLES.
