How much we take for granted......Reading and Writing......thank you God for my MANY Blessings........."🙏
Not sure what 'god' has to do with reading and writing. Considering the 'godly' places seem to have the least of it.
henryweaver667 Amen brother.❤
Absolutely. Feeling blessed too
Its not all gold that glitters but Johnny Cash shure was a diamond just loved this movie. Thank you.
I remember watching this when it first came out on TV, became a yearly favorite in our house. People today don't realize how back then we would look forward to the annual rotation of movies that came on TV . Once a year you got to see this , vanishing point , dirty Mary crazy Larry etc.
Where have you been hiding these gems of films? Uplifting to say the least.
Johnny Cash was a great American because he was for the people of this country. We lost a national treasure we lost him. Rest in Peace to the man in black.
the people of Ireland loved Johnny as much as he loved them "Forty Shades of Green"
He was about what America stood for more than the people. Just like today, they had Leftest Looney's. We just got a lot more since they closed all the asylums and they reproduced.
You very right 👍🤟🤝✌️
No rip, man. He's jammin with David and the boys in heaven, waitin on us to join em
😂
the last scene where Johnny Cash is in class with his son and puts the noisemakers down, the best!!!!!!!
Johnny is an excellent actor.
He draws on real-life experience and he shines
I've had the pleasure of helping a few out that couldn't read or write. Mostly older men on the jobsite, unfortunately many were my age. Seems at one point they got discouraged and gave up on it. One old guy I remember most was needing some help with financial things. For some reason he took me into his confidence. I did manage to get him on the right track with his finances. I can read and write, but I'll probably never have the small fortune that the unassuming construction laborer had. Don't let a Man's looks fool you, he was wealthy and you'd never have known it. He earned every bit of it from hard work and savvy.
A lot of people in Small towns couldn't read. A very few just didn't have the ability. But most had to start working on the farm at 10-12. Some even younger. A lot of dad's figured they couldn't read and got by. A mule don't have a book stuck to his Asspine. No time in a saw mill to read. Math yes. But you learned that cutting boards and counting money.
Hats Off To You
Never saw this movie before today. In fact this is the second Johnny Cash movie I watched today that I never knew about. Johnny was a good actor. I hope I find some more gems like this to watch!!!
I had no idea about this Johnny Cash movbie. He was a very good actor and fits this flick. Great Job Johnny, RIP!
this was no -flick-. this is a film!
I've never seen or heard this Johnny Cash movie thanks for the post.
I grew up listening to great pickers and singers like the Man in Black. We had a stereo of course but when my friends showed up on the big patio out back they DIDN'T forget their instruments.
It was kind of like going to Leon Russell's house when someone asked "I see guitars on the wall what do you play good music on?" And have him point at piano!
I'm from Tulsa too.
My favorite part was at the ending where he sat those disrespectful boys down 😂
didnt know johnny cash was in some many movies, watched a true story with johnny cash and june carter cash, murder in coweta county
Saw it last week, i love johnnys laid back approach.
I watched that last week also.
That is a great movie! I just discovered in recent weeks also
@@shivasirons6159 , what's the name of that movie? I saw someone telling the true story here on UA-cam. I'd like to see that movie.
Murder in coweta county, i think
No way would there ever be a movie released like this one nowadays,
What a great line: 'I may be no great high flyer, but there's freedom in my soul'. Couldn't be bought or sold, man.🎸😎
Well that one snuck up on me. I've always felt shame not being able to concentrate enough to read and the skill to spell correctly. It's only in later years recovering from an illness that I discovered the wonderful world of words. Alas, I still get confused when under pressure or just simply comprehending the words that instruct and or explain tasks. Mathematics was my passion but English comprehension was my nite mare. It's a hard thing to come to terms with.
@deadmanwalking, it's called dyslexia. I have had the same problem for years. It's just how i was born. Now that I'm older it's better, but school was so hard for me. I still have to look up words to be able to spell them correctly. It's so frustrating. Like I said, if they would start out teaching children how to read and spell without timing them...they would do a whole lot better. They wouldn't lose thier confidence in themselves and they would prove they can learn just like everyone else.
I love the music. My Grandaddy was from Kentucky. Thanks!
Johnny Cash is pretty influencial on earth.
Loretta Lynn was from KY born into abject poverty.Need l go on?
What a beautiful movie, sad story..I must admit, it made me cry a bit.. thank you for uploading..
Another good movie with Johnny Cash.
Johhny would have been formidable in a western. He has a great gift. More songs with Dylan would have been excellent also.
He did one. With Kirk Douglas
This is a great movie. Watched 20 years ago.
This is a real heartwarming story! Well done, Johnny & the rest of the cast and crew. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Loved this. Johnny Cash's soul shines throughout this movie.
112 years old, cant believe ive never seen this one! Thanks for Posting 😊
Sad movie, glad they learned how to read
Love Johnny Cash
Superb movie and message.
*_W O N D E R F U L_* story, beautifully told = 👌
It's not just literacy. It's dyslexia. It's something people are born with. You can't change it, but what can change is elementary schools need to stop timing children when they're trying to learn. They barely understand the lesson long enough to learn it for a test then they move on and the child has forgotten all about what the test was about. Our government just doesn't get it. I know it's easy for some children, but children with dyslexia has such a hard time in school. It's embarrassing for them when it shouldn't have to be. There needs to be schools for children with dyslexia. No timing. Just let them learn at thier own pace. It would make a world of difference on how thier lives turn out. It would help them in the long run. This was a great movie . I've never seen it before now.
I had the privilege to know Chrystal Smith, who plays his daughter. Probably one of the best human beings I have ever known.
What a great story ! ......Thank you for sharing.
Good to learn more each day
I absolutely loved this movie. It could have lasted another 2 hours and i wouldnt have been disappointed. Johnny Cash was a very talented man.
Brilliant movie! Cash is a natural.
Ending could've been better. But anyway, thanks for this great movie.
How so? I thought it ended nicely with them getting more of the help they needed.
AN HONOURABLE MAN.
As a former educator, I have seen my fair share of high school kids that couldn't read or write. I set out to remedy each situation I found. If not by me directly. The most vital skill a human being can have is their ability to read and write. It is a hard cold world out there and it scared me to death to think of some of the kids I had that couldn't. The hardships they would endure, the opportunities they would miss out on, and the advantage that others would take over them.
My grandmother instilled the power of being well read when I was growing up. She would drop me off at the library when we went to town as she ran errands. I could go anyplace and learn about any subject in peace, quite, and comfort in that library. I miss those times and I miss my grandmother.
Great movie
Great movie, thank you for sharing, Johnny Cash was a fantastic actor ❤
Johnny's appearance on Columbo is a favorite. He just didn't have the smart's to fool Columbo.
Thanks so much! I saw this years and years ago and loved it. I’m so glad to have seen it again.
Didnt know johnny was in movies, thats great and also Eli Wallach is a great actor
This movie Murder in Cowetta County was on regular tv channels years ago, I thought he did a great job and was hoping they would have made a series about it.
Wonderful movie.❤
Johnny Cash had a golden smile.
Anything With Johnny Cash is in is good. ❤️ 🇺🇲
Johnny Cash looks like they found him in the street to play this role. He truly looks like a man with drama in his life and on his mind. He was far better actor than they gave him credit for. This is a great film and educational too. Too bad they don’t make TV films like this anymore.
Good movie some folks may still be illiterate. It's 2024. I'm from Eastern Kentucky.. although a lot of things are changing some people are still like this movie in the hollows of Eastern Kentucky. It's sad but but true
Johnny cash é maravilhoso ❤
I have been looking for you. Loved this Thanks
Needing a job,I once loaded newspapers by the bale in Denver. From the dock to the huge trailer we went in an oval nonstop by hand. While it was still dark. That was between gigs as a musician, singer. I looked at it like I did in boot camp Navy. Exercise!😅
Thank🌺You
Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you 😂😂
My Dad didn’t know how to read or write. My Mom had to fill out his application for Case Co. and he was there for 34 years. I remember coming home from school and teaching Dad how to write.
Great movie, thanks!
I'd like to have his ol 65
Really great movie. Surprised that I'd never heard of it before.
Good movie.
love to see findlay market back then.
He was young in this flick.
The Man in Black.
1:40 ida had him say " ive been dealing with you for so long wouldn't want you to overpay me, ".
Did he get the girl?
Did he get the business?
Did he get the father in law?
Did he ever get a driver's license?
Yes, you are right..these questions left unanswered.. the story teller left it in the air, for us viewers to make it up for ourselves..
He didn't give up. That's the main thing. He was headed in the right direction.
WONDERFUL🙏🙏❤️❤️🏆🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Lovely:)
Trying to place this Woman, Brenda Vaccaro seems familiar, short career, beautiful talented woman.
There is difference in being 'illiterates' and 'knowledgeable' world would be surprised to know how illiterate these so called academic degree holders are, with closed minds, formal education doesn't make you 'literate' it only adds on some skills in you, The mind which grows even with minimum of formal education grasps the world around and progresses in its understanding of what and why and forges ahead in its empathy compassion and kindness, the characteristics which endears you to others, all of earlier sages scriptures writers were not so called formal school college educated, yet their writings have written eternal truths of human life which still holds true today and you think these leaderships with their fancy colleges Harvard to Cambridge to others institutions have any understanding of public life? how public offices should be governed? what is most important thing to be done? reforms changes to be included as time passes by and life changes with machines? that 'illiteracy I' have always meant with contempt of so called college university degree ones, who should know better with those degrees but they do not and everything gone into chaos out of control.
13:36 and you blocked a no no word . 😆
This is a cute film with a capital "C."
Some of those people that may not be able to read, but I bet you they can survive without money and without the government.
Horrible teaching practices are a horror. Non-phonics teaching of reading and writing is a sure-fire recipe for failure. This movie showed the progression from outdated, fruitless non-phonics to phonics... Good!
Johnnys singing Mongomery gentry songs
I've been watching 21 minutes I'm starting to think he can't read .
ALOT. Of. People. DID. NOT. HAVE. CHANCE. TO .LEARN. TO. READ. MOST. HAD. TO. WORK. TO. HELP. FEED. FAMILY. &. PAY. BILLS.
“mam” savage
❤❤❤
Good film but bad quality res . It seems under exposed like dull
3 minutes into the movie and already 2 commercials WTF
Me encanta
👍🏻👍🏻
too dark.........hard to see'
If this movie was made today, certain people would deride it for being "woke."
Cash was a great singer, but a very mediocre actor. He should have suck with music, NOT acting. Love his music.
I didn't no Johnny Cash did any acting. He's a bit of a John Wayne. Cool calm and collected to get the job done. NZ.
My daddy walked me to school in the 8th grade , because we was both in the same class , huk , huk , huk 😜
Why was the cop wearing a helmet
