Twisted Metal 2 is my favourite game of all time! Probably have 10,000 hours offline alone. It’s the best in the series imo. I love the characters, levels music and I just love the physics since they feel really aggressive when you hit someone and ram into them. People say Black is the best but it’s too dark and honestly too hard at times because the game is a bit too fast. I do like Black now but it’s a game where you need months of practice.
As a kid, TM2’s Dark Tooth gave me a few nightmares. Something about a flaming, floating head stalking me and wanting to kill me made my subconscious imagination go haywire. Probably not the best game to play at 5-6 years old xD
Seems like Part 1 and 2 have a limited graphics engine and the gameplay was much better. Part 3 and 4 had more complex graphics and they didnt make the games as playable figures since they were a different code team
This probably sounds insane, but one of the reasons I love 2 so much entirely comes down to Calypso's design and voice. In my opinion, this is where his character peaked, with the suave, demonic businessman aesthetic with just a hint of childish whimsy. Obviously, I can respect games like Head On and Black for taking the character in new directions and not rehashing what worked before, but 2 is just my absolute favourite interpretation of him.

Yo you've gotta consider "tall box" PS1 games in context when you review them. I don't think you realize how early the first game was in the PSX's life, with the unfair comparison to Driver and whatnot... At the time, its textures weren't bad-they stood out because they looked sourced from photographs, kept a gritty and photorealistic color pallette, and were consistent in scale to the vehicles, which today we take for granted. And the size of that Suburbia map was mind-blowing, so big that it was honestly too big for PVP, which was a cool problem to have! But yes its framerate was choppy, and if it sounded cheap that might've been the terrible compression of the time, but overall it was all a big step up from Quarantine on 3DO!

Very great content! Hope you grow quicker than you already are! I would love to see some platformer reviews, like Spyro or maybe even Sonic Adventure. Keep it up!
Hey, that's not a bad idea! I've actually only play Spyro as a kid, never really came back to it so that could be interesting. I also never really played any sonic game besides Generations, I'll definitely play some of those!
Spyro 1 is an incredible game! You can complete the game 120% on your first go without ever needing to return to past levels. Spyro 2 has you back-tracking because you didn’t have an ability the first time you played a level and therefore couldn’t collect everything.
twisted metal 1 and 2. Ah yes, love those games as a kid. sadly never had twisted metal 1 until i got older and found it and purchased it. though i did get to play it when i went to my dads house cause his gf at the time kid had it. twisted metal 2 i did own when i was kid and ya. i constantly played it lol that and a lot of others. i lived way out way out in the country so it was either play in the woods by myself basically (or with my brother(s)) as there was literally no one around us. so i spent a lot of time playing video games lol twisted metal 2 is my fav in the series. i do have a soft spot for almost all of them, though i never did play small brawl nor did i play twisted metal 2012 though i did purchase it day one and had it factory sealed for the longest time before i just sold it.. i still own the strat guide for it. my one brother bought it and told me about like the 3 characters and you choose cars.... and i just well, im not opening that and playing it.. i waited years to play like another twisted metal 1,2,3,4/black and i knew 2012 was not that.... amazing vid. thanks for the work you put into this in. it was very enjoyable to watch.
Thank you so much and thanks for taking your time to write the comment, it really brings me back to that time haha I wish I still had my strategy guides, they were so cool!
@@BlooTeg no prob. It was a blast to watch and I appreciat you taking the time to read it and replying and to all my other comments. cant wait to see more so. ima hit that sub button cause im loving the old school game content from ya.
Didn't finish the video yet, but thought I could share that Twisted Metal 1 was supposed to have video endings for each character, you can even find them on UA-cam! The creator had to cut them off because they had semi-naked Woman on them, and I think the publisher didn't agree with this for religious reasons or something like that. Edit: Reached the part where you mention it! Twisted Metal 1 would be way better with the videos, even if most/all of them are quite cheesy as you said. Part of the charm I guess.
You should try Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012. It was made by Singletrac, the creators of the first 2 Twisted metal games, so it plays similarly. Another game also by Singletrac is Critical Depth, like Twisted Metal but with submarines.
People said Critical Depth was very interesting but I'm not sure I'm gonna like it for instantly not being a fan of water games, but I can definitely try those out!
I was playing twisted metal 2 on the steam deck & Def Jam Fight for new york. I was chilling in my backyard and drinking some RedBull and I just thought about twisted metal then Def jam came to my mind. Now I can play in 4k without any lag
The only contact I've ever had with twisted metal was reading about it in that Playstation magazine 💀 should've bought, but I was too busy replaying san andreas endlessly

Holy moly, yeah subbed and bell- You're a goldmine for games of my childhood. TM4 and Small Brawl was where I was drawn into the series. Any chance you have played or want to cover Jak and Daxter, Crash Bash or Maximo for PS2?
Crash Bash is 100% in, and I never played Jak and Daxter or Maximo, so I'll check that out for sure! Also thank you, I won't rest until every game from everyone's childhood has been played. (Not a joke)
I don't think I've ever actually played TM1. Played quite a bit if TM2, TM3, and TMB. I have played TM4, but I remember not really caring for it. What the series needs to do is go the Super Smash Ultimate route and just make a new game that has all of the characters and levels from the original games remade.
The original roadkill *spoilers* He was murdered in his wish resulting being replaced with another character even though not all the worlds are the same in games.
If you like Twisted Metal I HIGHLY recommend: Vigilante 8 2nd Defense. (Make sure you play second defense and not the original lol) I played it a ton as a kid. Really funky and fun music super interesting and interactive maps (my favorite Easter egg is the space ant) and cool weapons to use. Check it out sometime! I never got to play the other ones in the series so that might be interesting to watch. HUGE congrads on 1k subs! Great vid as always!!! Keep it up!!
thanks a lot! I'll definitely check it out, I have the rest of them to review first but my friend used to play that one and I definitely heard very good things about it!
I recommend you check out Syphon Filter for PS1. And if you like exploring more underground games, there's the one that had the greatest impact on me in the fifth generation: RayCrisis
They should've remade TM1 and TM2 instead of trying to make an entirely new game. TM2012 did too much, though fun, the story mode should've stuck to the original formula
The reason the live action scenes were cut was literally because of the women and how they were dressed. thats right a Christian priest felt alright with cars and people being blown up, they're fine with Calypso murdering everyone just for the hell of it, but women in bikinis? thats a no no from us. so David Jaffe had to scrap all the footage. even some of the endings were altered between the lost endings and the final release.
@@BlooTeg Coming back i didnt see it but id like to request reviewing the Carmageddon video game series, a series so bad a representative from the vatican tried to get it banned, which caused people to buy it and create sequels.
If you love twisted metal you gotta also checkout its competitor the vigilante 8 games, 1 and 2 they are great! And personally I think better in some ways
Twisted Metal 1 had better aesthetics (not design quality) and much better character balance. Too many of the TM2 characters were gimmicky and one trick ponies. TM2 had character problems in general but the improved commands and nostalgia (and the fact many have not played 1) have people overvaluing 2
Nice video. The first two are definitely some of the best. (Have you tried Rogue Trip, by the same developers as 1/2?) My only complaint is that you're reviewing the "graphics" of games you're not actually playing. These butchered, stretched-out, upscaled, emulated abominations may arguably _look_ prettier, but it is far from an authentic representation of the games as we played them.
You're correct, I'll try to disclose that but I recommend you ignore that part haha the only way I can review the graphics as they were originally is by getting a CRT and a PS1, which is pretty hard to do here these days; but it it helps in any way, I changed the internal resolution, they're not just upscaled or stretched, I used a widescreen hack too so it actually renders more than the original 4:3! Oh, and people told me about Rogue Trip, it's the same engine as 2 right? That's very interesting!
Finally 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked it and honestly... I've only played SSX On Tour (a lot) and completely ignored Tricky/3...
That's definitely going on my "I've finally played" list!
@@BlooTeg SSX 3 is a fucking masterpiece of snowboarding games, that hasn't been topped to this day. On Tour was an okay sequel. 3 steps forward and 2 steps back, but still a good time nonetheless. Waiting for your reviews on those.
definitely soon to come!
I just love to see how you improve!!! Keep up my friend!!! :D
I keep coming back to the rat so I subscribed. You make amazing content! U really make people happy with this content!
haha thank you so much, I'm really glad to hear that
The Twisted Metal 1 the winner of the 2005 contest is Outlaw and the Twisted Metal 2 Dark Tooth driver Charlie Kane discover the driver of Sweet Tooth(Needles Kane) is your son(or an alter ego of Markus Kane driver of the Roadkill)
Played this when it came out , import with a chipped Xbox and have to say although better than some PS1 import games - it was still dire 😅 Great to see it again though 💪
Ah yes, love those games as a kid. sadly never had twisted metal 1 until i got older and found it and purchased it. though i did get to play it when i went to my dads house cause his gf at the time kid had it. twisted metal 2 i did own when i was kid and ya. i constantly played it lol that and a lot of others. i lived way out way out in the country so it was either play in the woods by myself basically (or with my brother(s)) as there was literally no one around us. so i spent a lot of time playing video games lol
twisted metal 2 is my fav in the series. i do have a soft spot for almost all of them, though i never did play small brawl nor did i play twisted metal 2012 though i did purchase it day one and had it factory sealed for the longest time before i just sold it.. i still own the strat guide for it. my one brother bought it and told me about like the 3 characters and you choose cars.... and i just well, im not opening that and playing it.. i waited years to play like another twisted metal 1,2,3,4/black and i knew 2012 was not that....
amazing vid. thanks for the work you put into this in. it was very enjoyable to watch.
Thank you so much and thanks for taking your time to write the comment, it really brings me back to that time haha
I wish I still had my strategy guides, they were so cool!
@@BlooTeg no prob. It was a blast to watch and I appreciat you taking the time to read it and replying and to all my other comments. cant wait to see more so. ima hit that sub button cause im loving the old school game content from ya.
Thank you! I'm really glad!
Hahah I think I mentioned this at some point, but yeah I heard it's on the PS2 version of Head On, definitely hyped for that one!
I think the music in TM2 is amazing but I did grow up playing it
You should try Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012.
Def Jam is AMAZING. Still play it from time to time.
@@BlooTeg yeah I just past the part were Crow snoop Dogg setup a fight With Crack FatJoe to try to end the battle between demob & Crow Crew.
The only contact I've ever had with twisted metal was reading about it in that Playstation magazine 💀 should've bought, but I was too busy replaying san andreas endlessly
Can't blame you, already know the map for San Andreas better than my own city.
Really interested to see what you think of the other PS1 TM games. It goes off the rails from there
Really? That honestly only makes me more interested in it... I'll do my best to avoid any spoilers haha
Twisted Metal is tight. I like the whole damn series on playstation.
Your journey will never be finished until you’ve reviewed every single video game that involves driving cars
Can’t wait for the Big Rigs Over the Road Racing review
I'm personally looking forward to M&M Kart Racing.
This channel is gonna go big. Keep it up!🎉
thanks a lot! certainly hope so haha
BlueTag my dude, your videos are so high quality and entertaining, when I discovered your channel you had like 800 subscribers, and now you have well over 2k, hope you will keep growing at this rate mate!
I sure hope so too! Thank you so much dude!
Found you through Twisted Metal
1st person with Mr Grimm in the Og was something else at the time;)
Another great video! And congrats for the 1.2k subs!!
Thank you so much!
I never rhad frame rate issues.....also this is the best soundtrack sadly ..most tm games have eh soundtracks with one absolute banger.
As a kid, i played the shit out of this game.
Demolition Racer was also fun but the game i loved above beyond was Eagle One Harrier Attack 😁🤟
Oh, I never heard of any of those, seems like some very interesting games honestly!
@@BlooTeg Also try Ghost in the Shell 😎
I really really like your job, keep the good work!
Maybe you could do legacy of kain soul reaver.
For the PS1 right? I remember people saying it's very underrated, I added it to my list!
Really enjoyed this review bro🔥
Btw what do you think about reviewing the OG NFS most wanted from 2005??
that would be cool! I'll probably work my way there from the older ones haha
Oh yeah and congratz for 1k subs!! 🎉
Thanks a lot!
This was old school growing up the original twisted metal glad you reviewed it and I also have a question can you review fighting force and Fighting Force 2
Definitely! I remember playing one for a bit at my friends ps1? and Fighting Force 64? Or maybe they're the same games, I really don't know haha
You're blowing up rodent! I love the style.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed!
You’ve heard of midnight club right? I would love to see that done
Yeah! 3 is one of my favorites of all time, I actually have something pretty close to it coming soon haha but I'll definitely do it!
I love midnight club. bluetag I enjoy your vids and congratulations for hitting 1k subs
@@MosCowfromrussia thank you so much, really glad you enjoy it!
Oh, twisted metal head on is a soft reboot of TM2 in terms of bossfights btw
Come on, Twisted Metal 2 has an awesome soundtrack.
Making a comparison between twisted metal 1 and driver is kinda weird since driver released 3 years later
@@BlooTeg You're doing a great service and I salute you o7
I don't think I've ever actually played TM1. Played quite a bit if TM2, TM3, and TMB. I have played TM4, but I remember not really caring for it. What the series needs to do is go the Super Smash Ultimate route and just make a new game that has all of the characters and levels from the original games remade.
that would definitely be cool!
Realy good video keep up the good work man!
ty for the twisted metal review
so twisted metal head-on next? or vigilante 8, the other car combat games?
I'll probably go for more twisted metal first, but I'll mix it between other games!
The original roadkill *spoilers*
He was murdered in his wish resulting being replaced with another character even though not all the worlds are the same in games.
It is a bit confusing since some games and stories seem to follow the last one, and some completely ignore them haha
Plop TM-2 in your cars CD player, crank it up, and go for a ride.... You'll feel differently.
I recommend you check out Syphon Filter for PS1. And if you like exploring more underground games, there's the one that had the greatest impact on me in the fifth generation: RayCrisis
I played the first level on one of the Syphon Filter games so many times lol
I never heard of the second one, gonna take a look for sure!
Twisted Metal is an amazing series and I can't believe Sony abandoned it.
They should've remade TM1 and TM2 instead of trying to make an entirely new game. TM2012 did too much, though fun, the story mode should've stuck to the original formula
PS5 reboot in development and a TV show.
i love your intro
love the channel man, keep it up 👍👍
thank you!
Wow man im almost 40 this is whatvme and my boys would play as a kid wild
Dang that intro is so epic
Imagine...i played twisted metal without knowing it is twisted metal xd
Would definitely recommend you to play twisted metal black it’s my favorite
I'll definitely be checking it out!
Awesome video, bro! Got a new sub! Come to Brazil! 🇧🇷
Já tô aqui :(
@@BlooTeg cumé? Tu é brazuca?
sim senhor!
Assisti seu primeiro vídeo com fones e notei o sotaque, mas pela TV eu não tinha percebido kkkkk! Foda, mano! Keep it up!
The game was made in the ninety’s so it makes sense that the graphics are pixels
The reason the live action scenes were cut was literally because of the women and how they were dressed. thats right a Christian priest felt alright with cars and people being blown up, they're fine with Calypso murdering everyone just for the hell of it, but women in bikinis? thats a no no from us. so David Jaffe had to scrap all the footage. even some of the endings were altered between the lost endings and the final release.
yeah sounds way too extreme tbf.
Fuck yeah, welcome to the Twisted Metal Club.
happy to be here! can't wait for 3/4!
@@BlooTeg Coming back i didnt see it but id like to request reviewing the Carmageddon video game series, a series so bad a representative from the vatican tried to get it banned, which caused people to buy it and create sequels.
The vatican tried to get it banned because it was so bad? I didn't know there were gamers in the vatican
I'll definitely check it out!
You finally played it.
Finally.
If you love twisted metal you gotta also checkout its competitor the vigilante 8 games, 1 and 2 they are great! And personally I think better in some ways
definitely gonna get to those!
Twisted Metal 1 had better aesthetics (not design quality) and much better character balance. Too many of the TM2 characters were gimmicky and one trick ponies. TM2 had character problems in general but the improved commands and nostalgia (and the fact many have not played 1) have people overvaluing 2
Destruction derby 1 and 2 please!!
deal.
Thank you!!! Such a great game and surprised you responded!!
I read every comment haha
just sadly because of the NFS video it's been hard to answer everyone, but I'm trying!
In the minority but I always liked Twisted Metal 3 the most.
On my way to that one soon! Weirdly hyped cause apparently it got a mixed reception
Could you pls review Dave Mirras freestyle bmx? It would be amazing!
I wanna do that along with Mat Hoffman's BMX haha
definitely happening!
@@BlooTeg great!! I'll stick around to see it!
whoo wee I love this funny rat
hahah thanks!
top tier content bruh
Nice video. The first two are definitely some of the best. (Have you tried Rogue Trip, by the same developers as 1/2?)
My only complaint is that you're reviewing the "graphics" of games you're not actually playing. These butchered, stretched-out, upscaled, emulated abominations may arguably _look_ prettier, but it is far from an authentic representation of the games as we played them.
You're correct, I'll try to disclose that but I recommend you ignore that part haha
the only way I can review the graphics as they were originally is by getting a CRT and a PS1, which is pretty hard to do here these days; but it it helps in any way, I changed the internal resolution, they're not just upscaled or stretched, I used a widescreen hack too so it actually renders more than the original 4:3!
Oh, and people told me about Rogue Trip, it's the same engine as 2 right? That's very interesting!
