    I now own more than 100 Bibles, including many premium Bibles published by Cambridge, Schulyer, Allan, and Crossway. The Cambridge ESV Clarion Reference Edition is hands down my favorite Bible. Simply, it feels great in my hands.

      Ok 100 bibles and the Clarion is your fav of them all? That's quite the claim. Why is this your fav? ... I'm asking 3 yrs later

    The Clarion in general is one of my favorite Bible formats! I enjoy the small yet chunky footprint

    My wife has the ESV Clarion goatskin but with the 2016 ESV text that Cambridge published in 2017. Not knowing any better, I ordered the ESV Clarion calf split for myself, thinking the inside of the Bible would be the same. But alas, my Clarion arrived the other day and it’s the 2011 text. Big differences in paper quality, darkness of the typeface (much blacker in the 2016 than the 2011), and line matching (again, superior in the 2016). In fact, I’ve found the 2011 Clarion calf split to be really hard to read because the ink is isn’t dark enough and the line matching seems to be off every other page or so. The publication page on my wife’s goatskin says the paper is from France; no such information is given in my older calf split.

      I absolutely dislike the super dark print. I find people who don’t have vision problems to make me feel like I’m constantly zoning in and out. It’s harder to see with bright white paper too. I love the lighter print!
      I believe they should create 2 types of fonts for 2 different types of people

    I’ve only just caught up with this video and am pleased to see this review. I’ve got this exact Bible and love it. The format is beautiful and as you say Tim, it’s easy to read and hold. Black letter text too! 😊. It’s also easy to put into one’s handbag and therefore easy to carry. Rarin’ to go indeed! Many thanks. 😊🙏 PS. You’ve just given it a nickname - The Little Brick 😂🤣

    I have two Clarions. I bought an ESV, and then I decided that I didn't enjoy that translation so I bought one in NIV. I love holding and randomly flipping through it.

    Which crossway is like this that you are referring to? I can't stand the cross legacy heirloom. I hate how they put the headings on the side...for me it's just harder to read that the clarion.

    Hey Tim do you prefer Cambridge clarion or a Schuyler PSQ more? Are they so close one might wrestle over which of these are more preferable?

      PSQ is double column and lacks a concordance, font might be slightly smaller

      It's quite nice... edge-lined versus paste down on the Pitt Minion, so the cover had quite a bit more flexibility to it.

    ok mr wildsmith, I'm on the hunt for my first premium and I'm completely divided between 3 models. This one, the esv treveris and the esv legacy chinese edition. Obviously the chinese edition is more affordable, but I love the compact factor of the cambridge. The price is something else though. Treveris is a beautiful text-block, the legacy block looks pretty big though. What would your recommend?

    • @timwildsmith
      @timwildsmith  2 роки тому

      My favorite design of those three is probably the Legacy... but the Clarion would be a close second.
