I remember seeing this in the early 1980's, when the Paul Hogan Show was first broadcast locally in NYC. TV just isn't this great anymore, hasn't been for a long time.
Was listening to the radio show "Remember When" on 3AW here in Melbourne tonight, where they were interviewing Australian comedian Col Elliott- he said he played Benny Hill in that sketch!
The best bit is that Paul Hogan's offsider (who was one of his regular sidekicks on his show) is a spitting image of James Macarthur (Dano)! They didn't even need to apply wigs or anything!
I remember the old Hawaii Five 0, and never had seen any parody other than the one in MAD Magazine as a kid. This parody even used the original theme. I am sure both Jack Lord and James McArthur saw it while they were still with us and laughed at it.
took me 25 yrs to track it down after seeing it on a late night Paul Hogan show episode in around late 80s . i spotted it again on U tube about 8 yrs ago had about 100 hits - i was overjoyed and was in Zurich at the time watched it before and after work and by the time i left had over 1000 hits mostly mine ! it disappeared and then i found this upload so thanks Correllon01
One of the best parts is when the Dano character gets his foot caught in the door. By the way, McGarrett drove mostly Mercury sedans and not Lincoln Continental Mark IV luxury coupes. Yes, both were Ford products, however different types of autos.
Dyou T, all the cars that the original McGarrett drove were big Mercurys. There were three of them; 1967 Monterey triple black two door, A 1968 Parklane triple black four-door, and a Marquis triple black four door.
You two sound like my dad and my brothers. Car fanatics, all three of them. They could tell you the make and model of every car. I think my two youngest nephews are gonna be the same way. My dad's no longer around, but he loved "The Paul Hogan Show" when it was on.
I don't remember this one, but it's hilarious. Not as hilarious as "The Halitosis Kid," But pretty worthy of the asthma it gave me laughing at it. I'd give this ten stars if I could.
OldsVistaCruiser, what is called a Lincoln Continental Mark IV in the United States is called Ford Continental Mark IV in Australia. What also happens is cars that are imported to Australia from the United States are converted to right hand drive, just like cars that are imported into the United States from other countries get converted to left hand drive
@@mervynstent1578 probably transported down for filming as they may have belonged to staff and it saved them procurement. I did wonder why the exterior shots were Melbourne locations and then realised they were specials, not weekly series so they flew him down for filming/taping the show at their much larger Richmond studios.
Tells u how things change. Mcgarret would be praised as a trans person for entering the women's can. The underwear gal would be sued off the planet for opposing him. Danno would be driving a casket on wheels instead of the big 460 Lincoln. The mugger would only go to jail for a couple minutes. Still love the way Steve put one across Danno's head for screwing things up.
That's how Jack Lord's McGarrett was on the old series of "Five-O". No taking his shirt off like Alex O'Loughlin's McGarrett did on the reboot (bet that didn't exactly hurt ratings).
Paul Hogan had such a great show back then use to watch it all the time. The guy that does Benny Hill does a great job
I remember seeing this when I was about 12 or 13 with my brother. I was literally crying from laughter.
So do I. Hilarious.
So do I l,at least we have a great sense of humour
Benny Hill would have been proud! Hogan captured his style of comedy perfectly!
From the days when people did die laughing, pure sofa meltdown moment.
As a resident of kapolei oahu hawwaii i can confirm this is what I see every day
Great, the unedited version. Can't believe this was 1978. Looks later.
Paul Hogan was great at portraying physical body language.

I remember this skit back in the 80s. It still makes me laugh. The guys who played McGarrett and Danno were just too funny.
😊
mc garret is paul hogan of crocodile dundee fame
Haven't laughed so hard in ages. Brill stuff
I know that Jack Lord and James Mac Arthur are laughing at this video from Heaven !
Was listening to the radio show "Remember When" on 3AW here in Melbourne tonight, where they were interviewing Australian comedian Col Elliott- he said he played Benny Hill in that sketch!
He had a good likeness!
Ha ha ha ha Paul Hogan is a legend 😂😂😂😂

I can't believe I just found this. Beautifully funny.

I hope so.
@@sharonjensen3016So do I!😂
I know Jack Lord is up there, looking down and cracking that faint smile of his over this skit.
When McGarrett used the old lady as a shield...lol
Great spoof! (y)

Still have this on VHS from the Paul hogan show, excellent
He is a genius, along with Roblin Williams, Rowan Atkinson and Billy Connoly.
He said Robin Williams is his favourite comedian.
it was so funny, I had tears in my eyes as i was laughing so hard. The more I watched it, the harder I laughed and cried.
I love British comedy of the 70s. Wonderful.
This was Australian though 😂
thanks for posting!
Awesome! I forgot how funny that bit was!
Thanks for the post, corellon01!
Just Love it.
Thanks so much for posting this. Now if someone could only post the "Hot Legs" bit. But copyrights have seen to it that no one can.

Danno. Here's 30 Gs. Go buy us a few of the biggest Ford's with the biggest standard engines. Make mine a Merc.
So funny

Oh god how funny!! Remember this on channel 4 when I was a kid in the 80s. Back when comedy wasn't so politically correct.
For me it was channel 9 in New Jersey at about midnight on Saturdays.
I saw this on channel 4 too and I laughed like a drain - bloody hilarious even after all these years.
Why can't you enjoy it without the negativity?
wow..i just found this by accident...so funny.
Oh, BTW - I never saw a right-hand-drive Lincoln Continental Mark IV before!

that was so funny i got gut ache watching it lol
Why are we still here, just to suffer
Looks like Alex O’Loughlin wasn’t the first Aussie to play McGarrett!
Great sketch - Route One but that was Hoges.
Did Benny Hill work with Paul Hogan?
As this is the Paul Hogan show and is filmed in Sydney Australia
Filmed in Melbourne actually.

Not sure of that...🤔
I miss being happy & laughing at life. How the SOCIALISTS have ruined life and removed joy.
Talk about a figment of your own imagination. Can't you just enjoy this for what it is?
McGarrett is so stiff!

Sadly there will never be another show like this - no political correctness to inhibit comedy.
This was on actually tv.. cringeworthy.
