      Mark and Vivek do not have the opportunity to solve these problems. Cuban truly believes that the best and smartest in the world, a group in which he believes he belongs, can lift up the rest of the poor, disadvantaged peasants. Trump and Cuban share this view, as do most of our elitist politicians. Vivek is different. He believes the individual, with God's help, must not be a victim waiting for someone else to offer welfare and must work for it. Given freedom, one can succeed.

      Both Vivek and Cuban failed to accurately convey the history and actual application of AA, EEO, EEO-1 reporting and EEO-4 reporting; plus (as non-disabled individuals) they completely ignored the impact of ADA on AA/EEO. Vivek and Cuban entirely missed the point of the Johnny-come-lately skewed and failed application of DEI. I'm a subject matter expert in AA/EEO/ADA/DEI and it's particularly annoying to listen to two "elite," politically powerful and affluent men, one man of color and one White man, talk about a subject for which they hold absolutely no expertise.

I think most of the time when you get some on the Left freaking out over someone defending Trump's actions or praising him, or someone on the Right freaking out over someone calling Trump out for lying or underperforming in office, most of that happens in the Media, because it gets views. We have decades worth of examples that show us the man can't be trusted, cares about nothing except his own interests, is a pathological liar, with no sense of morality. Aside from the practical problems that arise from this, I think one of the jobs of a President is to unite and inspire. Agreed. Mark Cuban's definition implied that there is all this talent amongst minorities that is actively being ignored by companies (at the cost of their profits!?), and DEI is companies attempts to open their eyes to this talent. This implies that either a) minorities have 0 ability to promote themselves to businesses, or b) that businesses actively discriminate against minorities in their hiring practices. I don't think either is happening. Which one is it Mark.
      That being said, I did love this interview and wish Vivek let Mark complete his thoughts more often. I think Mark is correct in his criticism of Trump on the ethical basis, although Kamala isn't any better.

      Most respectfully, Vivek and Mark, with regard to AA/EEO/DEI your mutual comments reek of an overt lack of subject matter expertise. FACT: The socioeconomic status for the overwhelming majority of Black people NEVER improved as a result of AA/EEO/DEI. There are more "token" Negroes, primarily being "showcased" in sports and entertainment, while the wage and income gap between White and Blacks has perpetually increased; segregation has increased; minority home ownership has decreased; the traditional Black family and marriages is essentially non-existent; etc. Even worse, as researched by Derenoncourt, Chi Hyun Kim, Kuhn, and Schularick in their March 8, 2021 report, “The Racial Wealth Gap, 1860 - 2020,” the wealth gap between Blacks and Whites has never been abated, has only increased significantly, and most importantly, if present trends in the data continue, the racial wealth gap is headed to a steady state with average White wealth at least five times greater than average Black wealth - even through 2260! Please, instead of being "armchair quarterbacks," learn more about the "reality of AA/EEO/DEI" by reading this: tripoetry.com/Letters/reynoldsrap-blackpeople5.htm or watch this: ua-cam.com/video/M_yx9LE6qd0/v-deo.html

Picking a a black woman in the name of DEI and not because she's sharp and knows what she's doing is a insult to her and her family. Picking the right person for the job is a honest business decision. Business isn't a social service, it's about making money. Who cares about the color of the skin. Vivek, my wife and I just watched this video, or at least as much as we could stand. You were a gentleman as usual. I used to have a little respect for Mr. Cuban, but no longer. He's bulldog who seems to like the sound of his own voice. What I got out of this was Mark saying my facts are bigger than your facts. I think it all boils down to him having hard feelings about a friend who had to go to court to win damages against Trump. This is a fact of life in big business, one that he's well acquainted with. Businesses get sued and sue in return. Listening to Cuban talk about stocks and trading, etc. it sounds like high level insider trading to me and THAT is unethical in my book. My message to Mr. Cuban, Vivek outclasses you in every area. Trump is the best candidate for president and I trust his judgement in foreign and domestic issues. Don't give up Vivek. We love you and love your common sense approach to business and politics. As for Mark, he will be the biggest voice in the room, no matter where he is. But that doesn't mean he's right on everything, or liked. Stay out of politics. No one likes a big, loud, barking dog. Stick to emails and don't use all caps, like you do in person.

    The DEI that mark describes is COMPLETELY different than the DEI actually practiced at most companies.
    The current insurance company that I work for that I'm thankfully leaving very soon shut down a bunch of their northern US offices and pushed all of us to WFH, our quality and productivity declined. Then they instead opened offices in low computer literacy communities in the south because they wanted more black people in the roster to hit their DEI targets. Our major core metrics are suffering and the quality that I observe in a wide range of activities especially entry level positions like customer service has taken a nosedive. First Call Resolution and satisfaction used to be their #1 priority and they were good at it, now it's "normal" for an account to have 4 interactions in a single week because the reps didn't handle the call properly. I observed one of the training classes and after 9 weeks training the reps still didn't know how to send out a replacement ID card which is the most basic and fundamental steps to allowing customers to access healthcare benefits.

    • @ephalanx1
      @ephalanx1 3 місяці тому

      So what are you saying? Blacks are incompetent? Maybe the training was bad. You yourself said they moved to WFH and quality and production declined. Sounds like the company made some cost cutting decisions that are ultimately the issue. Plus you’re right community literacy is a thing. I work in health care and sometimes it’s more about the communities you are hiring or providing services in. I can point out exact opposite situations where a company is diverse that is doing better than those that aren’t. So it’s 6 or one half dozen there.
      This idea that the reason for failure is because of DEI is overblown and simply unproven. Allowing people to ‘hire only the best’ is putting your head in the sand because they DONT and WONT always hire the best rather they will hire what they are comfortable with and aligns with their personal bias. Not to mention rampant nepotism. This is how you get nothing but straight white males at the top. Because it’s human nature to do what you feel comfortable with. Once this is in practice it trickles down. Ironically, there is always this focus on black people with DEI, when DEI isn’t just about black people. It’s about those that are handicapped, old, women, maimed, etc. For some reason when anything is wrong or failing it’s about the minorities in the country. As if the majority (whites) are infallible and just better citizens and workers.

      They most likely moved to hiring in the south because labor is cheaper, as it's also cheaper to pay first year versus 5 year with experience. Cuban answers this well, he notes that they still have to compete and if they don't, they are let go. If you're company took the cheapest route to save money (shutting down expensive offices and higher cheaper labor), then continues to keep them, that's on them and their profit push. No company sabotages themselves to hire 'black people.' Anyone that believes this has never owned their own business.

Median call survey scores sat around the 90-92ish percent area for her training class, her scores were averaging 78%. The only reason they were that high is most people got so impatient waiting 45 minutes for her to figure out how to send out an EOC that they hung up so they didn't get a survey. She was at the company for 2 years and chose to retire.
      You're right, people who own their own business don't do this. But I don't work for a business owned by a person, I work for a business that's publicly traded by mutual funds, hedge funds, retirement funds etc. and the people who make these decisions aren't board members they're middle management workers with a personal agenda who use DEI to justify it to the executives.

For example, DEI hires - he mentioned maybe there’s a woman from no name college that doesn’t test well but great at other things. But isn’t that just about finding the best people regardless of what they are? Why is DEI necessary then? Another thing I don’t understand is people such as Mark who likes to focus on discrimination acts as if Vivek or anyone who questions the potency of racism is saying “there’s no racism or discrimination”.
