- In depth review of the Logitech G27. A gear driven wheelbase that has been the crown jewel of Logitech for quite some time. It signified the peak of Logitech in the sim racing market.

Sorry, but anyone that knows anything about cars knows that straight cut gears are more efficient and transfer torque more efficiently, but they are noisy. They will have switched to helical to reduce noise.
Unfortunately I know nothing about the engineering of cars. And you are correct, the transfer of torque is more efficient. But does the helical layout also not improve the precision, lowering the slack when gears slide into each other over straight cut? Thank you for the feedback friend.
@@SimulatedDrivingResourceyep it does. Also means they can last longer as the loads being more evenly spread out. Around the whole gear
The G29, essentially the same as this, was my first "not complete crap" wheel, but I used it together with the playseat evolution which I can't recommend. The wheel isn't bad, in fact for most people who just play casually but want a wheel it's probably the best choice. Wheel and pedals are both acceptable, and the shifter isn't terrible either.
There are also a huge amount of mods available for this wheel.
Yes, I agree... if compatibilty for ps4 is required. Just for my region, for the G29, you still pay 200€ second hand which is 70-80 more then a G27. Would you not for the same money take a T-300?
@@SimulatedDrivingResource For the same money, the T300 is probably easily better. I haven't used one though, Thrustmaster claim when I use my TGT with the base set to "other" that it's the same as the T300, but a friend of mine with the T300 tells me that after two hours of racing his wheel starts to overheat and loses nearly all the power in the force feedback.
Weird claim of Thrustmaster... 🤔 yeah, the integrated psu and cooler is not so good. That is why people would choose the W123 😈
@@SimulatedDrivingResource W123 Mercedes?
By the way did you get my PSN request?
Here's the part from the manual about it being like the T300.
USB SLIDING SWITCH (11) IN THE “OTHER” POSITION
FOR PS4™ GAMES APART FROM GT SPORT
When the USB sliding switch (11) is set to the “OTHER” position:
Yes that one... fantastic car. I think so, I received from X***mead, I assumed it was you and Sent you a message. Yeah but it does have some more power still... the T-DFB is is not active 🙄
A little bit of a correction: the G27 is also PS2-compatible, just in case you need to go back to the old Gran Turismo games and other titles that support it. And I also agree that selling the H-shifter as a separate add-on is a crappy move from Logitech.
We learn something every day. Thanks man!
It can fully be used with playstation 2, with gran turismo 3 and 4. Shifter doesn’t work tho
I just got one of these yesterday and i can confirm it works on all consoles and pc’s im using it on a series s for forza horizon 5 and works perfectly fine 0 issues
Ergh.... you have a Logitech G27 that works out of the box on xbox ps4 and ps5? Where can i find this marvel!! 😯
@neosphinx i will sell you mine if you want! I am wanting a g29
Leaving your foot on the clutch and brake pedals while you don't press them, is a bad habit on real driving. You will eventually damage your car. Try to move your left foot outside on the footrest just after depressing a pedal. Your pedals could have stronger springs for you to be in comfort, but this is not how real cars work. Just learn how to drive properly and avoid bad driving habits like this that will eventually destroy your clutch plates or make the brakes hot (depending on which pedal you rest your left foot). I agree for the little rubber, one should make the mod with rubber piece to make the brake pedal on the end of its travel more realistic.
I don't know if Logitech changed the specification of the pots in the pedal set for the G29, but I burnt through 3 sets of G29 pedals in around a year. In every case after around 2 months the pedals started spiking. Cleaning the pots solved the problem for about a week, but after that the problem just got worse and worse until the pots completely failed.
I then switched to Thrustmaster using the T3PA pedals and those pedals are still going strong and without any issues after 2 years. Go figure.
That is horrible! Pots are known to loose performance over time but 3 in 1 years is horrendous! Did you use them in a construction yard? 😎 Sorry, not funny but that is some poor quality-control from Logitech then 😕
@@SimulatedDrivingResource No, it's not even that dusty in my man cave. Honestly I think it's the quality of the pots that Logitec uses - I've got a couple of throttle quadrants for flight simming that are Logitec, and they were spiking brand new out of the box. My personal feeling is that Logitec are cost cutting on materials and the QC is suffering as a result
As I said the TM T3PA pedals have no problems whatsoever and they're a pot based pedal set.
Sad to hear! Mine have been flawless for over 10 years on the G25 and 7
then its problem with new logitech wheels, my g27 stays strong and good and its been used for more than 10 years@@slaphead90
I just found a wheel and pedals (no shifter). Can I use this without the shifter with the paddle things on the wheel instead or do I need the shifter 100% to play. I noticed the paddle shifters don’t do anything on the wheel when I use my joystick to start the game. I’m assuming it’s unusable unless I have the shifter ?
It should work without a shifter. Its OR OR. Some possible issues can be that the wheelbase is not compatible with the game/platform or that you need to map the shifters on the wheel to gear up and down
Anyone one know where i can buy a g27 steering wheel
Not produced any more friend. So if you want to buy it, have to look at second hand market in your region.
Always meant to say this, but I love the Lego collection(:
Care to share one day??
I made some scenery video's of it on my other channel... they are not that good, but am getting better at it with each one I make.

@@SimulatedDrivingResource I love them!! Have you built any of the technic models? I highly recommend the sian (if you can), absolute joy to build and I think you’ll appreciate the architecture considering you like automobiles(: keep up the hard work my guy!!
Thank you... its a small part of my collection but will put up more video's and also the non-car stuff. I am really proud of it. I did own a 911 RSR at one time but I gave it away to a friend because it was just too big for my limited space. Love the color on the Sian but very expensive too. Thanks for the support friend! 👍👍👍👍
Does this already count as retro?
😁 that depends on how old you are I guess... For < 25, this is a retro wheel 😎
My current age is something that took some huge amount of time to calculate. The systems name is „Deep thought“. 25 is long gone. ;)
🤣 yeah I know the feeling... but then again, we still play games like we were 25. So not a retro wheel yet for us 🤓
Do you know the „Hitchiker‘s guide to galaxy“? :)
My retro will probably always be Amiga first. But PS3 is at least on the verge to being retro. :)
After seeing the trailer, its on my shortlist 😏 Amiga is an icon. PS3 still relatively cheap so not retro enough yet 😈
How do I send you pictures? I built my own tv stand for the art and want to send some pics of my setup.
I have an e-mail you could use. Guest.n5x@gmail.com . I am curious what you made of it!
Sent some.
Still did not receive... 😕
I'm an idiot. Didn't see my mistake.
You look really settled there 🤭
