I explored a cabin just off a 4 wheel drive trail in the Sierras that was open and furnished. It even had a .22 rifle hanging on the wall and whisky in a bottle.
Many are being refurbished and kept open and available for folks to stay. Raising the American Flag to let others know it's occupied. I forget who the actor is but he allows people to use his cabin as well.
We love the fact that you don’t show your face constantly like so many other UA-camrs! The POV is great! It makes us feel like we’re there. We (the wife and I) get out exploring from time to time and have been for 30+ years together.
I'm always impressed by the determination the miners must have had to do all the incredibly strenuous work it took to create the infrastructure and handle the ore they mined!
another fun explore sunny Jim .....too bad you could not get into that last shaft it looked very promising ....be safe out there and keep'em coming ...P.S. you should sample some of the veins for Gold ...if you need pointers just ask my brother
@Askjeffwilliams Who's your brother? lol I'm pretty sure I had you in 2 classes for half a semester in high school 1985/86. Balderson was the shop teachers name.
Thank you for not going in to detail about this cabins location. My wife and I have enjoyed this site for a few years now and have always loved how pristine it is. Unlike other youtubers who shall not be mentioned here it's really appreciated that you respect the locations you visit so well. Creeping through the bat bars was a great bonus! We've always wondered what was on the other side of them. Thank you VERY much for the walkthrough. Let me know if you'd like to see others in the area :)
Great video! I have been out to this mine site at least 20 years ago. Found it by accident just following the trail up into the canyon. It just amazed me back then on how well preserved it was. Looks like someone has cleaned up the cabin though and they have bat barred some of the portals. This still is one of the best hidden gems out in the Mojave! Thanks for sharing, brings back great memories.
I love this mine. As soon as I saw the workings in that concrete adit, I was like, "This is the best mine I love this video, probably my favorite video from yours." Great video, and keep up the great work 👌👍!
Stayed there a few times. That main adit must have just recently been opened, was always fully gated in the past. I’ll have to go check it out. There’s a couple other mines within hiking distance from there as well.
Good reasons for securing old mine entrances, my friends brother Don Carter died on a solo mine exploration in Nevada. It was a long time ago in the early 1960's but some things don't change.
ALWAYS great to see you're explorations, it'd be great to hear more description of what you're looking at if you know what it is. Really dig the mine and wreckage explorations! You should link up with Joe Idoni for crash sites,
I camped there about 10 years ago. The main cabin was not nice back then. Filthy. The outbuilding had 2 pink kidsize bunk beds inside. You missed the main adit for the Orofino Mine further up the canyon. But it too is gated.
I know exactly where it is but don't want to say to much, as I don't want it to be trampled. But here goes, get a USGS topo map that shows south of Baker, east of Soda lake. There are 2 mine sites on the western side of a mountain range at the end of a long strait road. This is the southern one of the two. Easy to get to going south off of Kelbaker road, about 10 miles give or take south of Baker. You will need to go thru a gate and into a canyon, the gate is open last I was there. Make sure you have a four wheel drive as the road is sandy and even though is pretty decent, can be bad in spots. Good luck hunting!
@@JohnCouch-m4fthank you for sharing. I was able to find this site other ways, but I appreciate your guidance. I am not a fan of gatekeeping. If someone does not want to share a location, then don't show the video. There are plenty of places I don't post because it don't want them to be overrun. With these public lands places, it frustrates me that some content creators feel they shouldnhave access but no one else should. I doubt I will ever go there since it's over 8 hours away.
all i keep thinking is all that free timber there, enough to build a great little house with a magnificent view - goes against the grain a bit i know, and a damn long way for shopping - bring on them delivery drones haha
I'll DM you on your IG account with a few other volunteer maintained cabins in the same area. I appreciate that you don't give out it's proper name on the internet to protect it from vandals 👍
You have excuse me I'm a bit confused, Instead of using your "pretty" and "trendy" jeep? Why don't you use some 7 year old second hand that can take a few knocks, Lock it up in some garage so you won't be seen "dead in it" and carry on driving your pretty little jeep around your neighbourhood, Coming that "sand ramp" you did not want to do?
Oh ya, that first shaft behind the cabin, out house!
That's what I was thinking? Lengthy walk at night in the pitch black? Chamber pot comes to mind

Really enjoy your videos. The door on the truck is a dead give-away. Yes it's a jeep. thanks for sharing.

Awesome vid!👍Looks like you found someone's getaway cabin, clearly that is in use.

I'm glad you now have a Jeep to help with your journeys. Still pay attention to your terrain - even Jeeps get into situations they can't get out of.

UA-cam is often the enemy of remote cabins but good news a few are GOVERNMENT PROPERTY and that's a hefty penalty if caught
Looks to be a volunteer maintained cabin and site. Nice mine explore. Many interesting finds.
and bro seeing you climb those ladders had my anxiety going crazy!!!!

This video is more in keeping with your past exciting videos. Keep ‘em coming.
Air down those tires to about 18 lbs. You'll thank me!! You've come a long way son! Almost 30k subs! Nice!

I love this mine. As soon as I saw the workings in that concrete adit, I was like, "This is the best mine I love this video, probably my favorite video from yours." Great video, and keep up the great work 👌👍!
Boy you sure found alot of good things nice to see it still in the wild ⛏️🤔glad your back really enjoy what you do on your adventures

There’s a couple other mines within hiking distance from there as well.
When we were there this year there was a waterfall coming down that Cliff behind the cabin . Probably not something that happens often .
That’s wild! Yeah I’m sure that’s a pretty rare occurrence out there cool you got to see that.
Great content....looking forward to the next adventure and sights!
That was a neat cabin
love the videos!!! especially the exploration, lots of people turn around when they see a gate lol
Fantastic
Another awesome video...Thx
Good reasons for securing old mine entrances, my friends brother Don Carter died on a solo mine exploration in Nevada. It was a long time ago in the early 1960's but some things don't change.
Great to see it hasnt been vandalised
I need more friends like you lol great video though 👍
Thanks from Australia looks good
Very cool!!
That was amazing 🤘
Great video brother. I want to move in and make that cabin my home lol
ALWAYS great to see you're explorations, it'd be great to hear more description of what you're looking at if you know what it is.
Really dig the mine and wreckage explorations!
You should link up with Joe Idoni for crash sites,
Check out the decorative repurposed porch column reused as a stol at minute 23:59 and another one at minute 24:18
“I wouldn’t be 😊the Western Mine Detective if I didn’t try to get into the mine somehow.” …WMD Atolia 2023 👍👍
Te Shaft as you called it looks to be a old outhouse, as a kid from a small town we would push them over every Halloween
Volunteer cabin!
Great mining video just wondering how come you didn’t want to go in the attic at the cabin
Nice job mate!
Super awesome video, as always! I was a little sad you didn't open the box under the flag.
That Jeep looks nice for having 100k!
Surprised that they didn't put a cover over that.
Im near mojave would love to go out exploring with you. And you know you should not go out alone and only ine vehicle
You don't see a cabin looking really nice in the mountains that clean
why is all of the creeks dried up no water anywhere
It's the Mojave Desert.
11:35 Outhouse
Jeep Willy's truck. About 1957 judging from the size of the back window
whos maintaining that so well
Vogelzang still in production the company l just googled it
W is for Willys, they made Jeeps and trucks among other vehicles in the late 1940's and 50's
Why do they always drill in a straight line..wouldn't the gold be scattered in different directions ❤❤

Is there a map of the cabins or someone to talk to about them... I'd love to camp out next year after I get a Jeep JK to travel to these sites?

Thanks, I have something to use when I come over from Oklahoma.

Look for old coins in these older abandoned cars .. $$$

Super cool...but cringeworthy when I think you are out there all alone going into those mines. That would be a crappy place to get stuck.
😂😂😂 Super old 60s
Have you ever ran into Wonderhussy from ytube?

Very disappointed u didn't investigate attic, could b a dead body and you have to report that
it is a jeep truck

You take too many dangerous risks. you'll see one day.
My Ford Edge would have made it out there.
Always great content dude!
