When I asked viewers for recommendations on my recent drive back from Mangalore, a few recommended that I visit Shenoy Restaurant in Guruvayanakere. Open since 1932, this modest eatery is run by the very hospitable Shenoy family who dish out a range of vegetarian delicacies breakfast through lunch and evening snacks. The food is the sort that’s homely, wholesome making use of produce in season. On this visit, I sampled a few of their snacks including the best biscoot rotti I have ever eaten. The flavours were the sort that hit home, also compelling me to make note to return here for a more substantial meal.
This is definitely one of those hidden spots that needs to be on every travellers list when driving towards Mangalore on the Charmady route. Hope you enjoy this episode. Take care; stay safe and strong. Happy eating!

It's changed
Mr Kripal Amanna is as comfortable at a modest eatery like this as he’s at a 5 star hotel/restaurant. Wish him a long and healthy life and happy eating.

The Dalitove for lunch is superb!
I love the Mangalorean cusine, but most of the dishes I saw in this episode was quite new to me. Thank you for showcasing restaurants and traditional dishes that are hidden gems 🙏
Mr. Shenoy is lucky to have a daughter who is interested in the family business 😊
Loved Raksha's childlike enthusiasm 🧡
Many of them are Konkani dishes
Shenoy restaurant is the pride of Guruvayanakere....Must try Dosa, Biscut rotti and sanjeera.
As our parents had taught whenever ur on the road make Coconut water Buttermilk and curd as ur companion u will never go dehydrated ,drained and they will take care of ur Gut, thats the same habit I think Kripal u have inculcated in ur travel routine .
I try to. 🙃

👍
Tender coconut water is not just rich in minerals, but a good source of Potassium, an important electrolyte that helps you from getting dehydrated. Also, Potassium is an essential ingredient in maintaining the orientation of the brain.
Very true bro instead of eating oily stuff coconut water 💧 is the best
Indeed
I have passed this so many times, but never noticed it, next time I will surely stopover here.

Being a bhraman nd living in Madras for long i always like the posts in U tube which shows such hereditary veg rests around south india and tempts me to explore ...hopefully i shd be able to visit such rests and njoy the ambience and the dishes they serve...very intersting dishes which sounds very novel and new to me..
That's awesome
Super vlog, enjoyed every bit of it
9:56 sir you remembered me of my childhood. I used to gaze the same way and comment the same way every time I used to see the plates being carried to different tables.
One would drool by just hearing Kripal's commentary without even looking at the video. That's the power of his vocabulary and explanation. Hats off.
Right
So good quality content
Whoa, seems this is shot in 1960s. Lovely👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Nice vlog ji ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome vlog sir 😊😊😊😊😊
Wow!! Another tasty vlog!! The biscuit rotti made me remember the last time I had it at Udupi at Mitra Samaj. Your seamless transition of being at home in a 5/7 star to a humble eatery is really commendable and is an indicator of your respect for food and your humility. 👍👍🙏🙏May God bless you with many more years of vlogging!!
EXCELLENT food
A sterling episode indeed. While you were totally engrossed in romancing the food, I myself was transported to my wife's maternal home in honnavar where most of the clan operate eateries in and around the town and elsewhere in Maharashtra.
Most of them have retired, or have taken their bow from this world. But the atmosphere was strikingly similar.
Full marks for picking up a place with reputation and long standing tradition. Kudos!!
Thanks Rajeev, am happy this episode transported you to some heart warming memories from Honnavar and Maharashtra.
All the food looks super delicious and tasty ❤
Lunch too, u get typical simple GSB thali, too good ❤
You should try Renuka Hotel,Kadari...3kms from Bajagoli junction towards Kudremukh ..for authentic Konkani home made preperations....
Must try

My favourite hotel ❤❤❤
Very nice❤
You have a knack of making the simplest of dishes look delicious. I might have asked for some sambhar or chutney with biscuit roti which seemed like a cousin of kachori and Sindhi pakwan. 😂
👌👌
Kripal sir you are at your best
I just came back from India and I tried following your trail in Blore and Mlore. Big fan of yours and pleasantly found out that one of our family friends is your neighbor in Koramangala and happens to be your wife’s friend,Shaila

Kripal, when you take a long and hard look at the waiter, twiddling your fingers and let out a sepulchral "haaa...", I could see, you are weighing your options carefully and seriously...! 😂
Guilt free foods ❤️❤️
Hotel Renuka near kadari mala is a nice choice
Pls do visit Krishna Vilas hotel, Mangalore.Variety of menu for breakfast
My favorite spot
Nice to know! What are your favourites here?
Homely🥰
Once again telling it is the tutorial of fluent english blends with tasty delicious food
Nice videos
Thanks
Many thanks for covering this restaurant and keeping my hopes alive of visiting and relishing such breakfast items in near future... While I appreciate everything that you do, I'm a bit disappointed by your diminishing interest and lack of understanding and awareness of subtle flavours... Some more interaction and rapport with the people may be helpful in this regard... Since you have raised our expectations, look forward to better and better performance in next videos... Warm regards, Kripal Sir... 👍🙏
We bring sanjeera still from that place sometimes when we go to guruvayanakere.
You should try semige sambar, Kai haalu

Has anyone tasted Biscuit roti in Bangalore?? . Had recommended many UDUPI Darshini owners to do but none have introduced it in Bangalore yet😔😔😔Last time I had it in Hotel Prakash Karkala which though was not the best but it was tasty and good to satisfy the craving.
I think this s n towards karala road. Not n charmadi road
That biscuit roti seems to be like a Kachori isn't it?
Your non veg videos are good
I take it, you are a non vegetarian. 🙃
For lunch see they have pathrado and sanna polo. You will enjoy those dishes. I think you would have tasted these dishes at Hotel Ayodhya during Kodiyal visit.
Thanks for the info, yes, I have tasted these at Ayodhya and also at Kota.
Good afternoon dear Kripal - Had a family lunch as it’s my daughter’s birthday 🎂. Now to dive into the vlog . For a change it was not a mystery about the name of the restaurant as you had already mentioned in your SM handle 😀The ambience seems to be quaint and homely 👌 Wow it’s a 4th generation running the restaurant in Raksha helping her dad & also studying 👍👍 I love a restaurant where they also sell some nice and delicious snacks . Just had a heavy lunch yet I have started drooling 🤤. That’s a good spread of snacks that they have dished out . I can have Kokum juice any time of the day . The biscuit roti is crispy ( ASMR effect ) and seems to have a good stuffing . Have never tried it before . Is it similar to a Koora Kachori ? That’s a good combo of the Buns with coconut chutney 👌 Looks like the biscuit rotis has hit the sweet spot . The lentil soup looks to be very mild in texture & flavour . Yes I agree with your FLTV sub who expressed his gratitude for taking us on excellent , virtual , food journey 💯💯💯 Today we had Masala Vada ( one of the dishes ) for lunch 😋 The aloo Bonda looks quite homely in terms of flavour . I love the Mangalore & Maharashtrian style Chivda / Avalaki . I agree with your feedback as all the dishes have withstood the passage of 9 decades and no wonder they are quite popular. I didn’t quite get the name of the raw banana dish . Won’t the addition of curd on the avalakki make the dish soggy ? Oh it’s called Vazhkai Bengal gram Palya ( we make it in a slightly different way ) . Wow the Brinjal Palya is a dish of its own and not a condiment to a main dish . So you got the answer to what gives the Avalakki a unique / pickle-like flavour . Time for a piping hot Samosa 😋 Unbeatable combo of Samosa with tomato ketchup . Oh you preferred the Bonda juice to their Kokum juice . Good that you got some good parcel of snacks & Biscuit Roti . Quite reasonably priced 👍 Thoroughly enjoyed this short but wonderful vlog . How can any of your vlog not be good 😅 You also take care and stay blessed . Happy weekend. Loads of love & respect 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️😋💯💯💯
Hi Rajesh, wish your daughter a wonderful birthday and fantastic year ahead. May God bless her abundantly in all her pursuits. As a father, I know daughters are special.
This was one of those places where time seems to have stood still, and the food too evoking the nostalgic simple flavours of yesteryear. I enjoyed my time here, and am glad you enjoyed this watch too. Take care and have a great weekend. Please convey my very best wishes to your daughter too.
@@FoodLoversTV Thanks so much dear Kripal . Will certainly convey your wishes to her 🙏
Shenoy , Kamath people always give less food and charge more money.
Sir try to come to our home for new and never eaten... Royal chapa of gava.
Your reply is appreciated, and hope you will try our dishes which we ll be honer to take care of you....
This dish What we prepare is lame price in economic way ,but its a way to have to eat and long lasting in the stmoch . which is forbidden dish by royals kings. ..
Sir ji aapke video ki length itni hoty hei ki aap khana shuru krte ho tb tk hme nind aati hei 😴
Hi sir , u should visit Madurai , Tamilnadu once for awesome food experience
Please explore Uttarakannada cuisines ❤
On Demand : We want 🎉Belluli Kebab Review ❤😊
As much as the eatery is worth visiting and has very good dishes to savour, it is also noteworthy that they do not allow you to make digital payment. They hide the QR scan and say pay only in cash. Literally have to beg with them for QR code saying have no cash and can only pay through digital mode..
May be they showed you the scan code a little easily😂
Biscoot rotti look like kachori
It is totally different
Northwalas please retain and use local names when on your in non north places
Isn't biscuit roti like Kachori
Similar, but I think the kachori are more weighty in their filling. And the stuffing is entirely different.
Biscuit(Biscoot) Roti = Kachori ?😊
Cousin of Kachori! Biscoot Roti is bit sweetish , where as Kachori is towards spicy!
Please help retain traditional names let’s not north Indianise everything
@@dcmhsotaeh Biscoot Roti is quite ancient Mangalorean item. Only it resembles north Indian Kachori. But it has nothing to do with it.
It is not like Pizza dosa or Paneer dosa, where authentic south Indian dosas are modernized!
In fact, Costal Karnataka is a heaven for food lovers and Udupi restaurants dominate the rest of the world. They are absolutely, culinary kings!!
This is near to my home. I drink soda sharbat
Food is ok... Not that much where hype is given ....But Hygiene... People should really think
Biscoot Rotti is like Kachori right?
No, it does not taste like Kachori but looks like one
Food quality is good but Poor hygiene
Are you sure about what you said about hygiene?? Have you been there??
U just made a video out of nothing. 🎖
HINDI BOL
Kannada English in Karnataka
Don't do non veg vides please please.
LOL
"Brinjal" the indian originated vegetable is called as egg plant in other countries as they don't have/know the original name of that plant or the vegetable
But the one who is bron in india is also mentioning brinjal as egg plant 😂😂
Are you feeling shy to show yourself as an INDIAN
Atleast have the courtesy and don't take money when you r getting free promotions, owners daughter is acting as if shes some degree holder from foreign University
🤔
