This is the best video I've ever seen on creating a journal cover - using the knitting needle is a great idea!

I appreciate the detailed explanations. I"ve never done that much precision mathematics for the spine - that was interesting food for thought. I like using the knitting needle to help measure, good idea! All-around very informative. Thank you! 😀

Yes, it seems to be a lot of calculating. And you don't have to do this every single time. To understand why you have to add X and Y to the width of your signatures mostly is enough to give you a good idea how of how wide your spine or the coverboards have to be. I got these informations bit by bit from many different videos. It was so tiresome to follow the tutorials still not knowing how they got from A to B. I've tried my best to explain the often missing details in just one video. But I'm pretty sure I forgot something or wasn't clear. If so, please ask. This is a good lesson for me. ☺

@@FriedaFriemel Your presentation makes perfect sense to me. I don't perceive any missing details. So far I've been making junk journals as an experience of playfulness without much concern for precision. However, I am moving into making something more, hmm, "art journal", which will be my drawings/paintings in a journal form as an art piece. I want to combine my love of drawing and painting on paper or canvas with making a journal. For that I want to be precise and professional, and your tutorial helps me a great deal. Thank you for all the time you gave to learning these details. I had just started that search.
I've had to redo filming a few times, and that has been a good teacher for me to remember to check all my settings, so I understand well.
Your name is Tina? I saw the Frieda and thought that is your name.
      Thank you so much!

@@KimVictoria-ArtistWell, in Germany you have to have a business even for the idea of maybe selling your products.😉 So I've chosen the name "Frieda Friemel" for my business to honor my late grandma. She's always encouraged me to do what I love and foremost do it with love and passion. 💜
For your art journal I would suggest using the hinge binding method. Every page in your journal will lie flat and you can easily add more pages.

@@FriedaFriemel Dear Tina, What a wonderful grandma! Thank you for explaining the name. That is interesting about Germany and business. I've owned my own business for over 30 years so don't give it a second thought now - I simply decided to use my own name for business back in the beginning. I WILL use the hinge binding method, absolutely! Thank you! Yes - we do what we love with love. Beautiful 💜
