Would have been great to see what they look like on the wood. :)
"Natrual" doesn't always mean fit for consumption. It's a really cool idea, but please don't drink vinegar and oxidized copper or iron.
I mean he did spit it out... lmao
u should have shown the exact results of copper to us. maybe after the couple of layers
Loving the coffee finish, how much coffee and vinegar and water was put in to get that lovely colour?
can you guys do some more demos of these stains..... please
I didn't use gloves because he said you don't need to since it's just vinegar. My hands are stained! Use gloves guys!
A few cool ideas in this video!
Can you bros do a video on how to naturally seal (make your own recipe) the wood? Also, since you have done this video it has been several years - have you perfected any recipes for beautiful natural (homemade) stains?
Have you tried lead paint? It's so natural. The white the lead produces is so vibrant.
+Adam R you do realize leaded paint is only really bad for you if you eat it.
Hrod750 or touch it over the years or inhale any flakes/dust. But it is natural. It has to be good if it's natural. I hope people are still making leaded glassware and windows. That was tough stuff.
+Adam R "it has to be good if it's natural". Ricin is natural. is that good?
+Adam R
Doesn't look like people understand sarcasm in this post lol, loved it, made me giggle.
Appreciate Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Rassiff Amazing Woodwork Blaster (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a great exclusive product for woodworking plans without the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my old buddy Taylor at very last got amazing results with it.
I tyred the coffe one, it worked really good
You should do a house tour (all ur builds and stuff)
Try your stains on woods with more tannin in them e.g., oak.. The staining will be more pronounced. You will get more intense colors.
need to try some
Im totally doing this guys
Cool thanks for sharing that guys :-) I will go and get some vinegar when I go shopping next to make some of my own stains I love some of the colours that showed up :-)
Add peroxide to metal based acetate if you need it in a hurry. The oxygen accelerates the oxidation and the reaction completes faster
Do you have to use pickle vinegar
That coffee looks niiice
yo guys i wanted to see a of you making a coffee table out of wood...that should really put up a challenge for you guys..i guess
Yay! I found you! Watched this video years ago and was amazed! Now as I'm finally begginig with wood work I found you again. Like and subscribe :)
Hey, I'm specifically wondering about using copper. I have lots of experience using steel wool and vinegar -- to get a strong black, you should use bark tea between coats (and oak or walnut, wood with tannins).
What do you think could be done to make the copper stronger? An article I found used a tbsp of hydrogen peroxide.
Melody please use a breathing mask and gloves if you do try the copper with vinegar stain.
Copper acetate, which is the chemical produced by mixing copper and vinegar together, is NOT just copper or just vinegar alone in their separate states, and is NOT okay for consumption or direct skin contact. They form a corrosive that will do very definite damage upon contact with human cells, both inside as well as outside. A safety breathing mask or respirator, goggles, and gloves are ALWAYS a good idea if you are not sure of the actual safety of what you are using/doing.

Would food color and vinegar go well? Is the vinegar used because it absorbs into the wood better?
Vinegar is a natural mordant (helps to stablize/fix a dye to keep it from bleeding or fading). If you have dark or bright clothes that the dye runs when you wash them, just wash them in cold water with vinegar and the dye will not run or bleed anymore. :) Keeps darks and brights fresher longsr. This also works for semi-permanent hair dye, do a half vinegar half water rinse on your hair just after dying it to "set" the dye so it lasts longer.
But then, do you put bees wax on it? Do you have a diy wax coating receipee? Thank you
use chlorine in the copper solution. it creates copper chloride which is the blue color, reacts faster too. only a few days.
+Konnor Leerek another article I read suggested hydrogen peroxide. do you think chlorine would be more effective?
+Melody Jones yes I do believe that chlorine would be more effective. the thing with hydrogen peroxide is that it is sold in different concentrates.

Poke berries and elderberry make nice dyes. They might work well.
i was cutting down poke every year because i thought they were weeds. this year they are taller than me, cant wait to harvest the berries
Make a slingshot each, like when you made pvc bows!
I love these guys!
what can i use to make an aged silvery look on Wood like the "weather Wood stain" Brand?
a home made crossbow battle
What color does steal wool give?
does the vinegar repel termites?
Is it food safe?
lol these guys was entertaining me as well yes ,good video
I want to see you make varnish
If you use the coffee..how do you get rid of all the coffee grounds when it has dried? and does it still smell coffee?
They used instant coffee which has no grounds.
Use the red onion skins!
How long does it take the vinegar smell to go away after you stain?
Why do u even bother smelling it mate ! It should go off by a week are so , I don't think it that much of pungent smell
OaksViewChannel It was just a question.
+Joshua Walters I use straight distilled white vinegar to wipe clean the inside of old musty 2nd hand furniture and smell goes away in about a day, provided you leave it out to dry & not try to put drawers back in units. I usually follow that with some coconut oil & antibacterial/antifungal essential oil & wait for it to be absorbed into the wood (about another day & you are good to go).
Guys.... you forgot the beets and/or turmeric 😁
I have a jar with used condoms and vinegar, can't wait for the stain
kRizm 🤣🤣
👍
If the jars are sealed, would the dyes go off?
Is that pine?
Do they rot?
I always thought copper made green. I guess I was wrong.
When you burn it it does. If you leave it to oxidize it turns the some color as the statue of liberty. It's the oxidation that protects it it's the same with aluminum that chalky finish is actually what protects it from deterioration or corrosion.
Will it make the wood smell !!!!!
Lol love these guys
I think you guys used a little bit too much vinager for some of them
Beets in vinegar would be super pigmented
how long keep the Woods those Colors?
*stain
+Kühn Like with other stains, depends on exposure to weather and sun. Looks pretty permanent though. coffee, wine, tea, nicotine, all should be very viable stains.
+Virgil R Garwood ... ah, ok. because I don't have experience with stains... but I search natural things for indoor/outdoor for wooden kits things... toys, constructions...
Yeah that coffee stain should be about perfect for what you do. What are you treating your outdoor wood with?
+Virgil R Garwood
i may made a wooden square with a car rescue blanket against the Sun this should be also resistant against Sun... I think at first about Linseed with titaniumoxid but sometimes the oiled wood get mushrooms... maby only not wait long enough for drying... ?!
You guys should make paintball guns

We all want smelly furniture 😜
A slide
copper acetate is an irritant i wouldn't with that
Hi
Omg
Watch out with Heavy metals (copper) and vinegar. Its gonna be toxic.
+Flip Schwip Mmmmh copper, heavy metal... aren't your water pipe mades of copper? copper is ok ;)
yes, mine are. It is fine as long there is no oxigen / air contact. I also just wanted to say you shouldnt taste everything because it is just vinegar + X. Copper acetate is indeed not the most dangerous thing on earth but still I prefer not to get it on my skin.
+Flip Schwip good thing water isn't comprised of oxygen then.......
I'll be nice about pointing out that the copper in copper acetate, isn't what you don't want on your skin.
