THE GAMEBOY MAKES NO SOUND. it is merely being used as a controller!
using LSDJ, and the ARDUINOBOY code (search both of them up and your sorted)
    its super simple to build.
you only need a gameboy, a cartridge for gameboy, look at shops like kitsch bent or retrotowers.
search up arduino nano on eBay they are about £2, 6 led's 1 6N138 and a handful of other things. its real easy. you will be pointed in the right direction if you search up arduinoboy. there are even assembled versions!!
one thing to note!!! i miss it everytime i stripboard an arduino boy! the gameboy cable connects to the analog pins!!! not digital. its an easy mistake to make.
this is only a very small amount of what LSDJ, and arduinoboy do! i don't think its a very popular feature of either of them. but its all i use them for!

If the brown note is actually possible this is the guy to do it. There's a god damn speak and spell hooked up to whatever type of audio controller that is insane

I've been using lsdj since 2009 and made an album using just 1 gameboy. I absolutely love it, it's the one piece of music sequencing that i feel the most comfortable with, like it's an extension of me. I've been getting into eurorack recently and just today i had this idea of using lsdj to control euro and of course i land on your video man CV converter as well to be able to actually get CV/Gate out.
thanks for reminding me of how awesome and versatile gameboys are

Anyone wondering which arduino that is, its an Arduino Nano. (edit: I guess I should have read the desc) You can get knockoff ones on amazon for about $4.50 each when you buy a few at a time (and 2 day shipping with prime.) Haven't gotten a dead one yet, but they are extremely sensitive to shorts and voltage in

I will be doing sequencing on my home made Z80 computer.
The Gameboy also had a Z80 CPU.

Damn that is novel! That'd make a great li'l contained module actually. Backlight it, put it in a 2 u space, slap a bunch of midi>cv on the back end, and you just replaced a many times more expensive sequencer, and it's probably more powerfull and versatile too! A+!

youve read my mind. im not gunna panel mount it though. from experience, LSDJ is pretty annoying to use panel mounted. built a 16 midi to trigger last night. got 4 cv outs. gunna do some cc outs too any then its all go. its gunna be my sequencer from now on!!! it was born through the frustration that that ER 101 is always out of stock haha. saved myself 500 quid.

I'm not knocking the thing I just said, or your modular application for that matter, but if you're going to use this as your main midi seq, might wanna pick up an old Amiga, rocksolid 1920 ppqm resolution, all in a nice 30 year old box!
That or a Yamaha RM1X, dirt cheap on ebay ;)

i know! sorry lost in translation. im just saying i did panel mount a single gameboy and it was just getting on my tits. so now i have a gameboy breakout module, and the gameboy just being connected by a wire. but yeah amiga would be sick! RM1X ill check it out!

Hey! I made the mistake of getting a USB-Boy which is the same device, but uses USB midi. Simple question but could I in theory splice the USB Mini output of the USBBoy into a USB Type B cable to control my syths via USB midi? or do I need to just go ahead and bite the bullet and convert this thing to actual Midi?

overall. all parts in pretty much, think the dacs might be the pricey bit, think he charges 10 bucks for the firmware update chip. he might have released the source code too since then!

i find it a bit annoying though. because the first midi channel signal it receives becomes its first channel. its really annoying. so you've always got to play channel 1 first everytime it boots up., which has been a nuisance when my modular turned off half way through a set the other month!

Yo! Do you know what kind of cartridge I need to be able to put LSDJ on it? Apparently it's a specific kind and I've tried asking a few people, and they've sent me on wild goose chases through various online sellers that didn't really confirm or deny their cart's compatibility with LSDJ. xD
