This guy is pure joy. I admit he rubbed me the wrong way when I first saw some of his videos, but I'm totally addicted now. Absolutely zero pretense and full of passion. Throw in his playful attitude and seemingly unlimited creativity towards low cost and endless DIY projects makes him a god of the modular scene IMO. Or at least a demigod
Glad you like it. We agree his attitude is totally infectious!
He's like music colinfurze
Yeah who needs voltage meters when you can just use your tongue?
"Zero pretense." Took the words out of my mouth.
He's the most genuine quintessential punk I've ever seen.
The fact that he doesn't take himself so seriously is very refreshing
you can tell he's sometimes a bit annoyed w/ the commercial nature of these things. he's a real hacker. old school 90s type.
At first I thought «What a twat» and only 10 minutes in I ended up loving this guy I'm on my way to buy a breadboard.
I seriously think this is the reaction 80% of the general public has with LMNC. You just can't hate the guy! ;)
If I had a large reserve of capital, I would set up a foundation for this highly creative and industrious young man. I have followed his projects since he began posting on youtube. He is a mad scientist with an irreverent stance on synthesis design and more than that he exudes a loving and genuine concern for spreading his ideas out to the general public. I hope those who are inspired by his musical wizardry will find a way to shed some love back to him with generous support from their pockets, precioussz!
Thats what patreon is for. And he has one. Go toss a couple bucks in the hat - that stacks up quick!
"When you oscillate really quickly, you would probably make a sound!"
I want what this man is having.
This video motivated me earlier this year and now my first synth module actually works, thank you very much!
"As you can see, this is what you are seeing." I love this dude.
Oh my god, the shakiness of the stand makes me very uncomfortable
"Why are you here? Why? Tell me! Tell me!"
same...
Then you should check out the video he made where he installed a flame thrower as a module into one of his synths
@@StrayMedicine That was cool but tbh i'm a bit more concerned by the piano stand wobble rather than a flamethrower that was built properly.
@@leet9873 'built properly' into a synthesizer lmaooo
I guess I'm making a modular synth now
did you make a modular synth then?
i think about buying that wasp replicate kit : ua-cam.com/video/SrNPYMYzMHg/v-deo.html
I make Māori traditional instruments now, but the modular is still on the table
@@SoundboyStrange you wanna build it by yourself? I think you have to be a bit of an engineer xD
@@theREALmushroomMusic the whole point of the video and LMNC's thing is that its dead easy to get started by yourself
When you're subbed to both channels and you're not sure which one you are watching
Lol exactly.
I
He is just a joker and full of youth. Love this guy. This is called loving music. The passion just shows through!
Nah he s just daft. A daft punk
@@phantommagnolia ...I see what you did there
One of the best teaching minds in the modular world, endless energy, endless inspiration. He is also a first class musician/performer.
Love how he basically ends his intro to modular with "now just make yours basically".
Finally. All the basics explained so even
I get it. Bravo.
i really enjoy this guy, i like his music i like his attitude toward tech and art, and i like his spirit of youthfulness. Also I like he makes childish people (@tim maughan) show their true immature colours. Look Mum, keep it going, love it!
Except, he seems to think you have to treat vintage gear like shit in order to be cool ... bit of a tosser!!
Except, he made it all himself
@@kierenmoore3236 does it hurt your feelings?
Jacob Westphal - no, because it's no reflection on me what he does. Some people don't realise we are just custodians of everything ... we're dust on the wind, and our egos/'being cool' is super-fleeting ... Anyway, will make my gear more valuable, the more stuff he trashes, so ... 🙂
Likewise, love his enthusiasm. Sure, I'd be a bit more gentle with the MS10 if it was mine, though to be fair, it looks like it's had a pretty tough life well before he was even born. That said, those things are built like tanks, and 6.5mm jacks are very easily replaced if you've got his skills. But the modular synths behind him are new and built by himself, likewise the BSP's very solid, modern gear and can take some stick. I was equally physical with my computer gear at the same age, so I ain't gonna knock him. The Who were much worse! :D
He's like Rick and Morty in one body.
HA
Brilliant.
Wow, I totally see it
Yes Ricky Mortin 😂
Totally agree
Out of all the videos I’ve seen of people explaining how modulators work, this guy does it the best. He explains everything in detail so it’s easy to understand, with humor. 👍 Cheers.
And he built his own moduals, which is just wicked cool
So hyped you featured my boy! hes my favourite channel right now
Everything between ones and zeros, best description for Analog. LOL
Brilliant mate, really, really great to see someone so deeply passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and energetic educating other people. Keep up the great work, LOVE the videos, learning so much from you, the videos are total immersion (and fun!). Anyone half my age who can wield a soldering iron with results like that is good by me :D
Wow respect man, you love your synths and you deserve it!!! What a work, you have built an amazing modular machine! SUPER!!! Can't wait to see your other videos!!!
This guy is brilliant! Thank you, Sam. After years away from music, you showing how to build this madness made my day!
...wait so his name is actually "Look Mum No Computer"!? love it!
Best intro to modular synths I've seen.
The best way to tell about how a synth works. Luv that guy! xD
love this guy... Awesome..He finally is getting recognized..
He's on a total different level and extremely knowledgeable on all forms of synthesis and i have absolute respect for him thinking out of the box and developing new sounds from equipment built from scratch.
Now this is the way to go. A lot of great tips and information on how to really get started and how to expand. Great work!
At last we get someone who can explain this in terms we can all relate! Fantastic job, and thanks for sharing!
Love this guy
What an incredibly inspiring vid! I really need to get building my own one of these, thank you for showing just how straight forward it is!
Nice one, another great video from our Sam. You have been a great inspiration for me and I'm not starting to build my own modules, having a background of electronics, and saying I was going to build one for many years, you have given me the kick I needed. So thanks - Sam the man
Great video. He's a great guy, and his channel is well worth checking out.
Just an awesome guy doing awesome stuff. Keep it up bro you're a big inspiration.
Thanks for this fascinating glimpse into the mind of LMNC. Interesting guy. Love his enthusiasm!
Sam deliveres tons of information under 30 minutes, eventhough he is...
...Sam.
I am totally adicted to his videos. You always learn a lot. Best man. I plan to support him via Patreon.
great tutorial and introduction to the modular synth! LMNC is a great man.
He is destine for great synth works, he is absolutely fantastic
Very cool👍👍👍 great breakdown of all the different pieces. Cool introduction to modular synthesis as well as a brief intro to making your own diy. Thank you! 🙂
"i can promise you that you will get so annoyed that it doesnt work, that you will make it work" nail on the head bro ;)
Best explanation of synths I have ever heard
I just put together a few bits in a tip top box and I was afraid to approach it until now?!
Thank you mr flock of seagulls, I think your gorgeous
I bet he had couple of neat sips of that JD sitting in the fridge on the back.
Love this dude!
Its the Tommy Robinson Twin Brother
Thanks for doing this, Sam.
I really enjoyed the tutorial he is sharing here. I learned a lot from this video. He is a good teacher.
Punks Not Dead
David Daw no it's not, its just taken form in electronic music now. There's some pretty intense electronic music that you can tell came from punk and metal and stuff. It's cool.
DIY all the way
Modern punkers that look like they did in the 80s and tout the dead Kennedy's are pure DNC shills who don't get that they would be put on the front lines without a second thought by the candidates they support, granted the other option is utter crap but
@@EthanRadell That assessment is so accurate, the raw feel and passion of rock has moved on to electronics, and boy does it show.
Cyberpunk
Great use of the Beatstep pro at 18:00 . Love seeing this device used with a modular.
At around 20:00 he lifts a BSP knob off, and without hitch, he places it back on.
So awesome, glad I finally got to watch this!
Great, now he is planting the idea in my head to build my own modular system out of single electronic pieces... I knew this hobby will be endless!
Studi Locker He actually has a few super simple designs on his channel
This guy is so cool man!
He does indeed have a very tollerable presence. Illin it!
I think it's great he hand made most of the gear himself. How many of us can be arsed to do that?
how do start with the basics if you don't even know what the basics are.
John's Kite get ready for it...oh shit it's coming.. brace yourself... The answer is...G O O G L E I T
Google what though?
analog synth modulator.. or how to make music with oscillator
This really is electronics down to its most basic form. Its all voltage. Very fun. Very expensive even if you build it yourself
good video - presenting style reminds me of 90's shows
Good stuff and i love the energy
LMNC is amazing love his music and his DIY synths and inventions its art
the tune he just comes up with is just wicked! Pure talent
I’m on an honours degree, studying music production and technology, but this course that you’re doing looks right up my street.
this was seriously educational and extremely straight forward easy to understand
What a great teacher. Fun all the way through.
Love his channel.
This guy is soo fkn pleasant to watch like watching my fav cartoons and the fact that he doesn’t even take his job seriously it’s fkn scary in a good way lol
This guy is awesome! Keep it fresh yo!
Genius communicator. An extraordinary individual.
This guys is a legend!
Sam is one of the best UA-camrs. I love his videos I've learned so much for his vids.idk how his channel doesn't have a few million subscribers.look mum no computer is awesome keep rocken brother 🤘🍻 cheers.
Sam, Big love to you brother. Keep reppin'
This guy rocks, awesome insight.
Cool that he opened it up and showed how its DIY build
huh? i'm actually curious about that triple oscillator custom circuit to keep it in tune? is there a video about that?
thats it exactly , his attitude is totally infectious .
I love this video, thank you.
sam battle is a hero! he has inspired more electroics-music musicians than anyone.
That was really cool. I'm gonna stick to my Sub 37. But thanks for sharing some knowledge.
This punk is genius. focus on science and music. rise above
excellent explanation Sam
Awesome Sam ! You are Like Fido Dido Synth Man. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
So happy i watched this ❤️
Loving the DIY “ Braids “ , modules !
16:43 "Ooh, what's that one?" - That's the Death Grips kick
TRULY A GIVING GENIUS....!!!!
awesome explanation
This guy is the Man !!
Man, that guys my hero.
This dude awesome! Crazy funny analog boy in our boring digital epoch
when your kid comes out of his room after 10 years, and then it is this
yeah we like this guy
very inspirating, I like this guy
When you realize you can make your own modules ....
Well it's not like you just "can make your own modules". You first need to have the skill and knowledge to do that. And the time invested into learning all of that could probably also be spent at the dayjob and allow to buy the modules you could've made otherwise.
But then again.. it's all fun and hobby anyway. So why not if it's fun to someone :)
@@earlgrey2130 You "first need to have the skill and knowledge". What a redundant thing to say. Talk about having missed the point entirely.
Saaaam! He's my spirit animal. Love this dude.
15:08 I Iove how openly he does the things that most people are ashamed to do even when alone! I'm sure Point Blank didn't expect such a vivid presentation xD
@18:22 is this sidechaining effect a actual sidechain or a voltage modulation ?
& if it's a modulation, how to set it up ?
Great video btw.
i was waiting the whole time for this rack to fall down on him 😳😳😳
same lol
Excellent!
simply amazing ... wow
Sam, you are a rock star
This guy is awesome.
I cant imagine how he has the time to build that stuff, would take me decades, i build guitar effects from kits sometimes and a very simple tube guitar amp but this stuff is 100000 times more complex.
I know Sam isn't an analogue purist, from many of his projects incorporating or even being based around Arduinos, vintage computers and whatnot.
BUT. I can also tell, from listening to many of his quotes in this video, that when it comes to sound generation and manipulation, he's got a soft spot for analogue devices. Their unpredictability and raw power are just like his personality, they reflect each other =)
Sam! What a gent!
Yea Carly!
