  • In episode 15 of our citroen relay van conversion we have miscellaneous jobs to do, and we decide to carpet the cab shelf and re-fit it!
    We were going to add insulation + reflectix but decided to just carpet the skin of the van in the end.

      Yeah me neither! Must of been damaged during fitting at the factory, or had problems in the past with the other owner, thanks! 👌

    You’ve done a great job. We were only talking today about this shelf in our van and what to do with it. I suggested carpet and now Ken has seen your video, he’s agreed it’s a good idea. Xx

      Hey, yeah we were so close to throwing the original shelf away but we decided not to and use the carpet and we both really like it and the plus side of it, is you don’t need to make a new one as the old one fits perfect😁

    Hi guys, my aerial leaked the same as yours in my 2016 peugeot boxer, the water used to run down behind the headliner and panels down under the front steps, it might be worth taking off the front steps to check is there rust under them and also there are lots of wires running under there that can get corroded. The other thing i would recommend is to insulate the front section over the shelf well as it gets really hot, but i`m probably too late saying that now......keep up the good work.

      Thanks for the info Liam we will definitely check that out, its just frustrating having a van that is 3yr old and stumbling past all of these problems🙄

    You can get universal seat mounts like these:
    www.speedwaymotors.com/Universal-Seat-Mounting-Frame-Slider-and-Mounts,2432.html
    But to be honest it can be done with some steel and high strength bolts. I would not recommend you do this yourself as its possibly a critical safety issue if you had a crash. Try asking a local car repair or fabricating business if they can weld up/ bolt up a adaptor for you?
    I would get your seats first and offer them up to see how much needs to be done, you may be lucky and get a close fit!
    Good work both of you.

    Not sure about your seat question, but presumably you can get Captain seats to fit that swivel to give you somewhere else to sit a night. Motorhome/ camper van manufacturers change to these so somebody must be making them? Good luck

    HI both, great video and Van's coming a treat, if you look at Dan & Abi they did a VW crafter and put Golf seats in really good video or The Restoration Couple they also did swivel seats

    • @AnthAmy
      @AnthAmy  3 роки тому

      Hi Megs, yeah we watch quite a lot of their van build videos and that gave us the idea of the seats but wanted to definitely find out if it was possible in our relay x

    seats will fit using two strips of mild steel flat bar drilled to suit your mounting holes on bases then you drill new holes for new seat base dimensions. I purchased the flat bar from ebay. 4 strips 500mm x5mm x 50mm wide cost only £16 total. with a little drilling seats will fit have photos if you need them not sure how I can forward to you? As for split charge relay if you van has euro 6 engine you need to go Battery to battery charger as you van will have smart alternator. Lots of videos on youtube explaining why. I know it is mort costly option but go for 30A Battery to battery and this will not overload van alternator. Keep p the good work.

      @AnthAmy  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the info it’s much appreciated! If you could send images to us on Instagram that would be great! @Anth.Amy
      As for the split charge, we don’t have a smart alternator as we don’t have a little box near our negative terminal on the cab battery. But you get what you pay for I guess so I will look into those B2B chargers thanks 👍

    Hi guys, hope you's are keeping well. We travel in a caravan, so don't know anything about motorbikes! I know this is probably a stupid question. But your motorhome looks really nice. WHY CHANGE TO A WHITE VAN? Surely there's not that much difference in size

    • @AnthAmy
      @AnthAmy  3 роки тому

      Hey thanks for watching 😁 we get asked this a lot and we have many reasons for the switch, we are making a video about this when we finish the van conversion series. We learned a lot when we travelled to the south of Spain and even around the UK. In the beginning we were going to do a van anyway but obviously bought the motorhome instead, some main reasons are security, we leave the motorhome for hours at a time while we explore and they have their vulnerabilities and stand out like a sore thumb. Plus we like being off grid more and not rely on campsites, love the idea of a challenge and 100% customisation of what we need and want in a van. We absolutely loved the motorhome though! Plus if anything at all goes wrong we know how to fix it in the new one👌

      @@AnthAmy it's very sad that you can't have something nice, without fear of someone stealing it!
      But it makes perfect sense, especially knowing the van inside out for if something goes wrong!
      Looking forward to your future videos. And thanks for the reply

    • @AnthAmy
      @AnthAmy  3 роки тому

      Yep! Not just that, but the contents inside also, nevermind we learned a lot and are transferring that knowledge into the new one 😁

    thanks for replying, enjoying it....i have to get a new vehicle next year ...cau u use this easily as a runaround? what worries me most is the electrics and mot/change of use.....looking forward to the finish.....have watched quite a few conversions....but this is looking good..very clean, attention to detail ...and a nice couple ..good luck...i dont think you need it tho.

    • @AnthAmy
      @AnthAmy  3 роки тому

      Thank you! If you mean getting from A to B most days then yes of course that’s what we are doing now during the build as it’s our only transport 😁 changing is nothing and not essential, quite a selection of insurances out there and we won’t be reclassifying. In the beginning we thought we had to but we don’t 👍 thanks a lot 😁👌

    You might want to put a 12v like into the overhead cab for a light as it may be dark with a door panel in it! (Just an idea)
