  • Hello UA-cam Friends!
    Kierra’s monthly period routine has to be done by me. Her monthly cycles are sometimes challenging while other times it’s not so bad at all. Although I have explained to Kierra about her monthly cycle, I honestly don’t know how much she actually comprehends it.

    Hello. I am on the autism spectrum. When I got my period my mom always made sure I changed my pads and I cleaned up behind myself. I was bad at hygiene. Once I left my used pad on the counter and my 11 year old brother saw it. It was embarrassing, but most times it’s hard for people with special needs have a hard time with hygiene.

      Hey Anon! Sounds like you have a great mom. If it helps, right notes on sticky notes to help remind yourself to properly dispose your monthly napkins. Also, don’t be to hard on yourself. We all make mistakes. Much 💙

    I'm not autistic or know anyone that is, but I think this is great for girls who didn't have women around to show them proper hygiene when getting their first period. Thank you so much for helping all little ladies and moms out there☺️

      Well I am but with any kind of pads I find that they’re annoying just because of the fact that they feel so cheap I’ve always leaked a lot easily so due to that and to make those specific days easier I’ve been trying some specific underwear that you throw out after that’s specifically for periods and honestly they’ve been a lot more helpful to have for me I mean yes I’ve had a little bit of a leak be on my sweat pants but it doesn’t matter the point is those kind of things are super useful so as an autistic person I’d highly recommend having a pack of period specific underwear that basically has a big pad built into it especially for if the person has a relatively medium to very heavy flow like I do

      Try to double up on your pads, use depends or period panties. It might help.

      Consider also getting washable period Underwear, you will save space and money. Personally I am learning how to do seed cycling (sunflower seeds and getting that nutritional yeast for mood boasting Bs) for the nutrition‘s to help with the hormones and then of course taking magnesium when the period starts an iron to replenish so fatigue isn’t debilitating. I too need to take a Alive on that first day even still, but part of the reason why there is that craving for chocolate is actually that need for magnesium and it’s body calming effects.

    You are so thoughtful prepping for school caregivers. Today, most have no idea about not inconveniencing others and thinking ahead to make things easy. Lord, woman. You are an angel. People out here worrying and killing for petty stuff. The world is lost. You are one of the few saviors. Major tight big virtual hugs!!!

      Awww. Thank you so much UA-cam friend. It’s hard raising a child with an exceptional need as a parent, so I think it’s very imperative to help exceptional need teachers out especially when they have a class of students that requires so much love and individualize attention. We parents need to try to lighten the load and support them anyway that we can. Much love 💙

    Great job of explaining what you do for ur kid with special needs on get monthly when it comes.
    I don’t have heavy periods either. My niece who is 14, just started hers this past august & she uses the always pads without wings, cause they itch her. Plus she is special needs as well with a mild physical disability as well. I love & care for her just like my niece is my own child. We both love to sing Christian songs among other songs too. She loves church ever since she was a little kid & I’m happy that she wants to do it the rest of her life as she grows into a young lady! I enjoy having her at my church with me!
    Wonderful song. We loved it.
    Keep up the good work with Keira.

    As a mother of girls and now grandmother a girl & also a carrer for special needs girls for several years, I understand alot of what you're saying. When I worked with special needs girls, we had males around, but the males weren't allowed to change any of the older girls. They could do diapers on infants cuz the changing stations had cameras and were in the open bathroom, the older girls were attended to by us women in private school we could do the proper menstruation care that they needed.

    Great video. I’m sure that dealing with the challenges she faces can be difficult at times, but it looks like you are doing a great job. Also , as I’m sure you already are, feel blessed that she is at least somewhat verbal and can communicate verbally to the best of her ability. Most people on the severe end of the spectrum can’t speak at all. As far as tampons go, I know plenty of neurotypical women that aren’t comfortable using tampons! I used pads for the first four years of my menstrual cycle, waited until around 16 to switch to tampons.

    This was a very educational video. I am autistic too but high functioning. I do have therapy for coping skills. This was well done and good to know how things work with a lower functioning young lady. She is very beautiful and you are amazing with her. Like the use of code words, be safe, monthly sister....love!

      That's all you can do, meet her where she is. Know that there are so many similarities between Kierra and myself. I havr a dog that I am training to be my meltdown dog. It gets really bad when i meltdown and it can happen often. Momma and I also do code words....i understand the wanting her to be high functioning but God made you her momma for a reason...because you are perfect with/ for her. Also, I'd never use tampons on a low functioning young lady. I myself cant do pads, and I do birth control for period control.

    • @stacybrown7422
      @stacybrown7422  2 роки тому

      Really. So do the Depo shot prevent the cycle from coming?

    • @GracieD28
      @GracieD28 2 роки тому

      I was on depo for 5 years and it took a year to get my cycle back but I didnt have one for 6 years. The depo depletes or makes bones brittle so I had to take 2 Tums with calcium 3 times a day to keep my calcium up. It's not the best option, for anyone, in my personal opinion. I do have to say that it does stop cycles so when you are ready to be done with it that is an option. I have Kyleena which is an IUD which keep my cycles controlled. It's a 3 year one so next year my GYN will need to take it out and put a new one in, it also stops periods or make them to where you are spotty....probably not the best for Kierra tho. If you have any other questions please let me know. Just know my responses are not medical advice just opinions and anything you choose should obviously be ran by your doctor.... tell Kierra hi for me and you really do have a beautiful angel

    I'm autistic as well and I have PMDD, which is a severe form of PMS. I'm currently taking the birth control pill to treat it. I used to be on the Depo Provera. After the 1st 3 injections, I turned into Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. So I am no longer taking it. I wouldn't recommend the birth control shot due to the adverse effects I've experience when I was taking it. Just saying, the Depo works differently for some women. I'd suggest that she'd try the pill.

    Why do you use the puzzle piece? It is rooted in an autism hate group called autism speaks. Use the ∞ infinity symbol if you really want to support us. the puzzle symbolizes that there is something missing in us. The infinity symbolizes that we are whole and that it is a spectrum. Please try and learn from autistics and not from hate groups. I know you are trying your best, thank you. Also, the blue heart is a hate symbol in the context of autism since it also comes from autism speakes. Light it up red and the rainbow infinity sign are the best ways to show your support. ♥∞
