    Of all the industrial fence that I have installed we always used pressed steel or cast railend cups with a hole in them for the excess truss rod to go through and into the brace rail and put the tensioner at the bottom of the 3"-4" terminal post. That way that ugly bend is not exposed and visible and it is practically impossible for the bend to come undone.
    Also I like for my T-handle to have a slots in it rather than holes (fabricated from SS40 pipe of course). Makes it easier to remove from the wire you are tightening, especially barbed wire.

    At 2:51, truss rod looks like smooth rod but at 4:00 clearly there are threads at one end. What is this stuff called if I try to order it since I've never seen this before? I know what threaded rod is but it's threaded entire length. You guys are not just amazing fence installers but your videos are serious top notch...and you guys are so upbeat and positive.

    • @SWiFence

      ASTM is the go-to resource for chain link building code.
      Residential: www.astm.org/Standards/F654.htm
      Security: www.astm.org/Standards/F2611.htm
      You'll need to check your local county and state codes as well, but this will get you solidly off in the right direciton.

    ? You don't have combo cups for your rail ends so all you need to slide truss rod in brace pipe. That way you don't have cut truss rod at all. The tightener goes to bottom of post.

    • @NoahDevine91
      @NoahDevine91 3 роки тому +1

      I was wondering the same thing?

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  3 роки тому

      Combos have never been our thing. Many times they are harder to get and cost more for what ever reason. Try putting the tighter like we do and you'll never do it the old way again. It's much better to adjust where we have it. We learned that hack from one of the greats Virgil Thomas.
