I agree, it really sucks when premium car brands cheap out and make everything an optional extra. But BMW really half assed these seats. My UK spec 2006 320d SE has the cloth seats, and the drivers seat is very uncomfortable and gives me back ache. I've driven all kinds of cars, Skoda, Kia, Nissan, Ford etc and never had such problems.
