It's really cool to see the whole city lighting up. It's so clear you can even see the little glittering far off on the distant shoreline. The drone vantage point really makes all the difference. Those are usually 'expired' emergency flares used on boats, because they are a safety device they have an expiration date to ensure that a boat is always stocked with a relatively new flare. The expired flares still work fine, so the sailors usually shoot them up on new years. I think it looks quite nice.

Wow. Its like fireworks are erupting from multiple and different points all over the city. Here in Australia, fireworks are heavily regulated, and they are usually only set up in one major area for people to come see.
Here you can shoot ANYWHERE basically...same with drones, you can fly anywhere except airport areas of course...LAND OF FREEDOM!
I think the risk of setting off disastrous grass or forest fires is considerably lower in Iceland than in Australia!

@@IcelandExplorer Þingvellir national park no drones, Gullfoss no drones, strokkur no drones...and the same in the most of the main natural attractions...In wich part of Iceland do you live? Þórshöfn??? There drones are allowed!!!
Dang i wish we could have something here, we cant even do that in Melbourne city, they have a few spots of fireworks but nothing like this video at all,
I find it amazing you find such a quick flash of fireworks, we tend to go with the bigger and more explosive types that take like 30 sec's or more to burn out, really interesting to see this.

So the sale of fireworks is regulated and exclusively sold by Iceland search and rescue teams to help fund them through the year. All profits go towards this, anyone can buy them assuming your the right age and theres no restrictions as to were you can launch them, ofc be sensible and surprisingly almost all Icelanders are.
