When the mother told the story of how her daughter overcame drugs, to getting a master's degree, to raising (3) girls on her own, to then counsel others. What a compelling story of redemption! I felt how proud the mother still is...even after her daughters passing.

Exactly there was no way she had any disapproval of her daughters lifestyle. I can’t stay when people play the gay card or even the race card as a form of manipulation. That mother lost valuable memories that had been stored in her daughters phone - just heartbreaking.

I've said this before on other cases. When it comes to recieving property and there is so much hostility, it's never going to end peacefully. I like how on the people's court, judge milian says the court will make arrangements..that way they can't do that and IF they do, it will be dealt with at that time.

Eh..Going to be honest, I think this is common with most people. They act like a common law marriage, they plan to get married but haven't walked down the isle. But they're technically sharing everything from the kitchen sink, to the bathroom--even doing taxes for their fiance etc. I doubt she thought she was robbing her daughter and mother of her belongings--but she should've respected their feelings all the same and talked it through. Also playing the lesbian card was ridiculous to say the least.

I can understand taking jewelry off the body before it is taken to the hospital or morgue because people steal anything of value, even if it’s on a dead body. Problem is, if the mother and/or daughter/s wanted her personal belongings then they should be the 1st to get them, not the fiancé. Sad that people can’t get along even after a loved one passes. Unfortunately I’ve experienced that firsthand.

@12:33 Ex: ''I'm' the one that was affected by this ,emotionally. 'I' have had to go and revisit everything, and relive this experience all over again for the past 3 weeks, and it has hurt to the core.
'I'm' the one that lost the love of 'my' life!!''.
What an absolutely selfish ,egotistical,single-minded and hard-boiled thing to say to a mother and daughter that just lost their loved one.
I can't believe she said those things.

HOW DARE SHE!!! Seriously the way people act when someone dies is disgusting.
That was her daughter and her mother, you don't touch someone's property after they die you can't just take something that's the law.
And to have to deal with this for 2 years and keep reliving I feel so bad for that mom and daughter.
    I wish them the best

The real problem concerning personal property, is that this lesbian couple was not legally married. Therefore ,Judge is right, it goes to the next of kin. If both women had made a will, about who was to get their property should something happen to either one of them, then she would have been legally the owner of all her deceased partner's earthly goods. Sexual orientation has nothing to do with this case. Same laws of inheritance, disposal of your estate, applies rather you are gay or straight.
