My father was looking for a solution to play live avoiding at all costs to make a few holes to his Nylon Strings Guitars by installing a Piezo/Preamp with EQ system. I saw this system in a GC Store and checked a YT review... Well, this is it. A very good solution in it's class if not the best. Not perfect but very enjoyable. If you have a guitar with a 12 hole tie block the KNA pick up will not affect the break angle of the strings because the string comes up over the saddle from the second string hole on the block.
I have the NG-2 with the volume knob on. I find this pickup nice sounding but overly sensitive IMO, plus the volume knob buzzers when not on full, it would be nice to be able to role it off a bit sometimes instead of having to adjust the amp or PA when playing more powerful pieces.

I've got two of this things in two of my guitars, and I think, they pick som warm from the top of the guitar; not only the plastiky bright strings sound, like a regular piezo under saddle do. Greetings.
The angle of your strings towards the saddle doesn’t change. That angle is determined by where the holes in your bridge are, not by the height of the pickup.

I think mu coment below is not visible enough so i post again = to my experience the pickup lacks serious sheelding - the sound on a good solid state amp is oké but in other situation it gives conciderable hum so than it is not suitable for recording (i had to redo some recordings using a condenser mic because the hum was tooo much) i tried an extra wite to have some grounding but that gave some improvement, but not enough Problems occurred for instance with RC300 looper and using palmer preamp, i have installed a few of them on different guitars before discovering this problem (all of them hum beyond tolerance as far as i am cocerned) would add a picture if i could but that appears to be impossible here!
Just finished a beautiful home grown flamenco guitar. I've got a similar looking piezo by Coxx and am trying it out, but ... I made a beautiful inlay at the place where this piezo comes. And that's a shame ... but ok, let's try it out! And for me: it's ok. Not spectacular, but in any way it doesn't change the acoustic sound at all as you said, and it works perfectly with a good amp (Schertler Unico) and a pre-amp (Zoom A3 ... in my case). Or at least: sufficiently for the purpose of playing a live gig. At the studio I blindly prefer the knowlegde and the experience of the sound engineers with their soffisticated mics and all that stuff. Coxx is a Polish (?) enterprise and I bought the thing for about 15 € instead of 70 US dollars for the Kremona. Quite a difference! All other systems for classical guitar are much more expensive and more far-reaching to the instrument itself. Good review and good advice! Thanks for posting!
Great review thank you! Used to a steel string acoustic that I fitted a Fishman Rare Earth & Mic Blend (amazing) and wanting a nylon string classical and maybe adding electronics (piezo/transducer + internal mic if possible), I was going to get a Cordoba C12 with the raised fingerboard, but noted your slight disappointment it wasn't raised enough. The De Casa Sylvia looked too good to be true and perhaps so with the quality concerns mentioned in forums although the customer service seemed very good to resolve these. I then seen your great C5 review and thought lets instead start low with good features & quality, but ah then the C5-CE, but I wanted a full 52mm nut and no cutaway for the experience so back to the C5 albeit the C5-CE is only 2mm less and same for the C7-CE though the latter does have the Fishman blended preamp. This little KNA is pretty tidy, no fuss with no modification and at least gets connected for some decent amplification - nice one!

I didn´t quite get it. Does one have to have an interface and a computer? I just wanted to have the pickup on my classical guitar and in case I play on a gig, plug it in and have the sound come out of the amp...
Great review, Thank you. I was thinking of going for K&K SOUND pure classic but I change mind because the price is much cheaper and the sound is OK to me. The cost is 1/3 of K&K pure classic.

Hello , nice sound . I have a Charango and because there is no bone in the saddle the strings are right true the saddle thats why this product is i think the best option, but because i dont have much to spend , what kind of a preamp do i need. Thanks
I don't see why not. Does your wireless work when you plug in an electric guitar to it? Similarly, this mic doesn't have a preamp, it's just the signal.
Most audio interfaces have built-in amplifiers anyways. You must have a gain knob on the channel, this signal goes through an amplifier inside the interface before becoming digital to go on the computer. Also the level is OK for direct amplifier usage, a small pre amplifier could be better as i have heard but it is not under any circumstances obligatory with this pickup.
Yes, tapping the top makes some sound but I think it's better than lots of contact mics that actually attach to the top rather than the bridge. But ya, I try to stay off it when playing.
What if I don’t have an amplifier? How do I make my guitar louder for live performances if I don’t have one? I have an acoustic electric guitar just no amp anymore
That sounds a little problematic, acoustic-electric guitars sometimes aren't designed to project as much (depending on the model and design) so amplification is your best bet. You're technique can certainly help though, a technically advanced player with nails can get more volume out of a guitar.
I have a Cordoba lefty. I'm thinking it shouldn't make a difference because the side that you put the jack into will, in both cases, be on the high E string side of the guitar, but still... What do you think?

Hi. What is that guitar brand & model you used in this video. I like the color of the top part. What wood is that, cedar? Also, is it a 3/4 sized guitar? Thanks for sharing this.
It should work with Midi Guitar 2. That plugin will work with pretty much any audio signal. The audio to midi conversion is done inside the computer so it shouldnt matter what pickup you use. Check out a video of a guy using Midi Guitar 2 with a harmonica ua-cam.com/video/jzltXmY0PLY/v-deo.html
Interesting review. I have had one of these for years but did not like the sound compared to an internal mic when I tested it. I wonder if they have improved them? Perhaps I need to give it another shot. They are very fragile. If the cord gets caught and pulls on the pickup with any significant force, the pick-up will break.
I saw your video and then went to Amazon to check it out. There are many 5 star comments comments about the quality of the device but among the 1 and 2 stars, its fragility was mentioned several times. One guy left his device installed and while carefully taking it out of his soft case, it broke off. I can also imagine that it would just take one time of another musician stepping on my cord and breaking the pickup off at the neck. I'm looking for something that I can install and not have to worry about. Do you know of an under the bridge device that you could recommend?
Same thing happened to me, more than once and it only takes the slightest tug to rip that little plastic plug box apart and rip the wire right out of the metal element which is inside the piece of wood. Once it just got caught on someone's sleeve and that's all it took. They are great in concept but are WAY to delicate for live very active live performers. As a studio only instrument it would probably be fine.
Rookie guitarist / relative capable sound engineer here - May I please ask a question? My father was a luthier and I just found one of his old guitars that I would love to record with. I enjoy the notion that this is a simple and non intrusive solution for recording nylon classical. The pickup appears to work well - I'd like to chain it via my amp into my computer to record little bits and pieces - do you think it cuts the mustard considering there'll be a fair bit of support re: tonality and volume from eventual mixes on recording? Thank you so much + subbed!
Well, a microphone works best for acoustic instruments but this is certainly an affordable and easy solution. Have you checked out the Zoom recorders and other brands. The H4 is great and flexible for future upgrades.
I had no feedback and I turned up my amp pretty loud. That said, it might be good to go through a preamp first with feedback control such as: amzn.to/2tqjJ1r
Thank you for all of the helpful videos! I have a concept of modifying a cheap classical guitar to prevent the soundboard from actuating, so that I can practice silently. I'm hoping to find a pickup option to use headphones with. Do you think this Kremona model would be a good candidate, since it relies only on the vibrations of the bridge apparatus? Thank you.
@@Thisisclassicalguitar, my idea is to open the back of the body to access the underside of the soundboard. Then I would glue to the soundboard wooden boards cut to fit between the bracing, thick enough to hopefully immobilize the soundboard, which I hope would drastically reduce (or eliminate) the guitar's normal auditory function. I don't think this would impede the guitar's conductive properties: the vibrations should still travel normally from the strings to the bridge, where the piezo can detect them, even though we can no longer hear them. That's what I'm hoping for. Thanks and greetings from the North Island!
I have the second version of this this mg2 and I have it installed and it works perfectly fine but it sits at an angle from the bass to the treble as the A and E strings push the pick up forwards then forcing the tail of the E and A strings up and then sit in a position that’s not suitable and also down near the G and B strings the pick up has a hair line split in the centre of the wood . Please get back to me if anyone has a suggestion for the pick up in my mind I think it just can’t hold to pressure the strings put on it .
I don't currently have a nylone but I'd be interested in hearing this in comparison with a regular film piezo placed on the bridge. film piezos can be had for pennies on the dollar. I'm sure the wood helps with the transfer of vibration but wonder if KNA did anything with the voicing. My initials are KNA so of course I'd want one.
Hi!!! How do you conect piezo ng-1 with your pc soundcard. I have 2/3 differents connectors but none of them sounds. Please tell me if i need an speciffic connetor
Through an audio interface, I have a universal audio one but I would just get a cheaper one. My gear is listed here: www.thisisclassicalguitar.com/classical-guitar-store-reviews/
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the included cable picks a lot of 50 Hz hum in my case.. Pretty much every other cable works better. I'm using THR5A amp.
Ha, Hi. I was wondering why it sounded off/weird to me.... I had playback speed set to 1.5X speed. wups. 1X sounds great in, even in Raw. You said it was turned up pretty high... and then cranked it up twice. great review! Subscribed! Still using it?... Doesn't look like it. interesting.
Fantastic review. I am sold on it. One thing though - does the quality of the guitar affect the pickup's quality. I mean, how good will it be with a sub $500 classical guitar? Which guitar are you using in this video?
Maybe a little bit in terms of sustain length but tone I'm not sure. I always play with a cheap guitar when I do casual gigs anyway in case of damage or theft.
I have a Puertorrican cuatro which is ten steel strings (octave pairs) and its way expensive and I don’t want any cutting into the wood. I wonder, do they have that for steel strings?
Thanks for everything you do for the classical guitar. I would like to buy your book. Your book have TABS as well as notation? I 'm not really a good notation reader but TABS will helping me a lot. I will appreciate your response. Once again Thanks
Almost all my material has tab except for some of the educational books. Look for the word Tab in the description of the book, I always include it if it has it.
I want to play my acoustic nylon guitar with my Mom on the piano and my guitar need some amplification. This could be my solution for that problem. I have 2 nice fender amp here, that have a very good clean sound.
Sounds like a good plan. Some light reverb on the amp can really help. It's tricky getting a natural classical guitar sound but it will certainly amplify it.
@@Thisisclassicalguitar I have the amp reverb, and also an Rocktron Intellifex 24 bit reverb. Should do the job. I am thinking about that, or just going all in and buying a DVote dPA 4099 for guitar. It has quite a price tag to it, but would be a solution for live play and for recording.
It makes a sound but I guess in the classical position we don't change the guitar angle a ton, at least not as much as rockers, so it's not really an issue for me.
It's not for acoustic instruments, my acoustic amp died last month so this is my electric guitar amp. Ya, Kustom partial tube amp. Not sure if they even exist anymore.
A bit thick as you'd expect. But with a preamp or adjustable high quality amp you could clean it up a bit. That said, it was way better than the array of contact mics I've tried.

Great review! have you tried it live? a few reviewers on amazon lamented some feedback.
Thank you.
Hmmm, ya maybe but not sure, it depends on how you are dampening the soundboard I guess.
I'm wondering the same thing... I have a few cable piezos that I don't know what to do with...
could this be used on a pedal?
OK - now try some Kremona guitars. I think they rival Cordoba.
That's odd, my is silent. Maybe there is something near it interfering?
Beautiful Tone, where can I get the Piezo for experiment with an electric guitar?
Why would you want a piezo with an electric? The electric already uses pickups
Hahahhaha
Hi bro, please let me know what's song play in this this clip?. Thank you.

@@Thisisclassicalguitar Thank you so much. 😊😊😊
Thanks for the video, do you think it works if I plug in my headphones?
I’m afraid not: you need a headphone preamplifier
Have you ever try this pick up for concert? But, I like the sound it produces.
Not on stage, just for casual gigs (background music).
If I may, why not use a clip on condenser microphone? They sound so much better.
thank you, bro
Hello sir... How can get the pick up?
Follow the link in the description.
I have a Puertorrican cuatro which is ten steel strings (octave pairs) and its way expensive and I don’t want any cutting into the wood. I wonder, do they have that for steel strings?
They have tons of products: amzn.to/2tqczdD
Thanks for everything you do for the classical guitar. I would like to buy your book. Your book have TABS as well as notation? I 'm not really a good notation reader but TABS will helping me a lot. I will appreciate your response. Once again Thanks
Almost all my material has tab except for some of the educational books. Look for the word Tab in the description of the book, I always include it if it has it.
does this need a pre-amp? is the signal volume good enough to just plug into a regular amp? thanks
It's good to go right into an amp. If you needed a boost maybe a preamp would help though. I'm fine with it as is.
What if the cable hits the guitar? Does it make a noticable sound?
It makes a sound but I guess in the classical position we don't change the guitar angle a ton, at least not as much as rockers, so it's not really an issue for me.
I am using the same pickup, and I am not getting the same sound, what I am getting is a boomy sound and mid range is really lacking.
Thanks!
You bet!
Obrigado ótimo review
What impedance should it go into ?. I know Radial has a Di. with a 3 Meg Ohm input, that probably would be optimal, this info is important ;-)
If only I knew what it all meant!
Interesting. Which model of amplifier do you have: Kustom ?
It's not for acoustic instruments, my acoustic amp died last month so this is my electric guitar amp. Ya, Kustom partial tube amp. Not sure if they even exist anymore.
Thank you for your answer, but what do you plug in your clasical guitar pickup? to have this sound
Thanks alot🙏
Most welcome 😊
How do the bass strings sound? Natural or "thick"? Thanks.
A bit thick as you'd expect. But with a preamp or adjustable high quality amp you could clean it up a bit. That said, it was way better than the array of contact mics I've tried.
