    4:52 And that's how it's done!! So many times in reviews pedals are tested with the volumepot full open. Whereas (for example in a shoot out) different pedals can respond very different to that.
    I use my volume- and tonepot all the time( I have a good working treblebleed in the guitar) to get different gainstages!! Nice review, nice pedal. Tone City makes good stuff and as a professional musician I take their pedals serious. I use their Tremble tremolo-pedal (that has a volumecontrol, very usefull!!!) and absolutely consider the King of Blues!!

    Great video, wished this was around before I bought mine. From what I've gathered, engine B is based on a Marshall Bluesbreaker Mk1. It does and amazing edge of breakup tone, however you can't get further levels of overdrive from this engine at the same volume as your signal. If it could, it would be a 10/10 for me

    Great video, i've been thinking about getting this pedal and your video has been really helpful. I've seen many KOT clones and the King Of Blues seems to be the best. Great sounds. Btw beautiful guitar, what pickups are you using on it?

    • @samgoffenguitar

      @Mr.D34 3 роки тому +1

      Thanks, i love teles but i'm a humbucker player, when you replace the pickups with more powerful Seymour Duncans or Bare Knuckles they loose their "tele feel" these ones seemed powerful yet with true telecaster sound

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  3 роки тому +2

      Absolutely get your point there. I was always a humbucker player too but last couple of years have started really enjoying the openness and dynamics of single coils.

    • @Mr.D34
      @Mr.D34 3 роки тому +1

      @@samgoffenguitar i'll check those pickups. You're right about that sound, it'ss one of the guitars that i keep coming back to. Btw i'm about to order either this or the model s. What is the build quality like? They look solid but the knobs seem kinda cheap (at least from the videos that i've watched). What are your impressions about this one?

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  3 роки тому +2

      @@Mr.D34 hey:) the knobs are reasonable tbh. You have to keep in mind the price point but mine were good. No wobble and felt firm to turn. Plastic of course. I think you’ll be happy with it as long as it’s that sound you’re after.

    Nice demo. Have you had any problems with the pedal in the meantime?
    Just asking as I've owned two of these in the past. I liked them, but they both broke down on me inexplicably. They both had the same issue: working fine for months, then plugged them in one day and started crapping out and making a horrible noise with little guitar signal coming through. I'd bought them from eBay, so no warranty. Took the second one to a local repairer, but he had no luck fixing it as there were no schematics available.
    I'm reluctant to buy other Tone City pedals now as I'm not convinced by their build quality.

    • @samgoffenguitar
      @samgoffenguitar  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, no I’ve had no issues. I guess we can’t get away from the fact they are cheap. But I think the tone on this pedal in particular is damn good for the price. I mean if I had the money spare, I’d get an analogman KoT:)

      @@samgoffenguitar me too! Sometimes I'll stand out in the hallway next to my music room and play with that mid pulled to not bust my ears open. Something else I've enjoyed with this amp is an impedance mismatch. I'll run the stock 8ohm speaker off of the 4ohm tap. Learned this trick via Steve Kimock on the gear page. He was advising someone else on how to tame the volume on a different model two rock, and this basically kept me from selling the amp at one point. I could not dial out enough bass to be happy with sound. It tamed it in all the right places. I've yet to change it back to the 8ohm tap. Love your channel, thanks for the solid videos!
