Nice work Brendan. I remember hearing this band for the first time way back in the early 90s. I tried out their live album Scream in Blue and was blown away as a 15 year old. I immediately went out and bought Blue Sky Mine, and Earth and Sun and Moon which became one of my all time favorite albums to this day. After Capricornia I kinda lost track of what was going on with the band and just recently learned of Bones passing. I am so saddened to hear about this. One of the things I loved about this band was his backing vocals. He added so much to their sound. He will be missed. RIP Bones!
Great tribute my Wonderful friend. I really enjoy midnight oil’s music. Blue Sky mining from 1990 was great and has serious fidelity. Of course my favourite song they ever did was called “put down that weapon.” It is awesome. Anyway thank you and happy Sunday to you, brother. I got some quality listening done today. Fates warning’s new album and G N’ R Appetite 2018 RM from the boxset. Both are incredible and I am in absolute sonic bliss. The FW album may be my album of the year. Dogfight between Paradise Lost’s Obsidian. :)
I’m enjoying the new Fates Warning as well. A review will come later this week. But for now I’m digging into the new instrumental Reb Beach album. This one is really great IMO. I’ve been a fan of his since Winger then to Alice Cooper, next to Dokken, and finally to Whitesnake. He’s had a remarkable career despite what Bevis & Butthead did to his band Winger making them uncool in the 90’s. All that he has done and this album are vindication....hummm sounds like could make for a good review! Haha
@@BrendonSnyder I look forward to all your reviews and I remember that B& B tarnishing! Lol. Man they really ruined Creed because their videos were so damn corny. Oh well. Anyhow the FW album is an absolute beast. Love all the tracks and Ray Alder’s voice is in full force. Just incredible.
You’re welcome Fernando! He will be missed but I’m also glad the Oils will continue and there is a full length album yet to be released with Bones on it.
I saw Midnight Oil for the first time in Milwaukee WI in the early 90's. My strongest memory of that concert was Peter and Bones singing One Country. I was completely blown away. Rest in peace Bones.
I saw the Oils in the fall of 1989 in a small basketball gym at GW in Washington, DC. They opened with Bullroarer, and Hillman’s powerful backing vocals in the song’s chorus made a strong impact on me. Its the one specific detail I remember about that show.
Wow sounds like he made quite the impact. Unfortunately I’ve never had the opportunity to see the band. Still hoping to on their next tour but of course it will be missing Bones. RIP
@@BrendonSnyder I was surprised when they announced the band was playing so I grabbed up tickets pretty quick. And yes, I had no idea he was sick as well.

Hi Blair! So tell me, what does being a “Kiwi” mean? I saw that mentioned about Bones as well...being in Kiwi bands. I too really love the song One Country.
Just stumbled upon the news of the passing away of Bones Hillman, am truly shocked and my sympthys are with all who knew and played music with this great musician. Massive Oils fan going back to the late seventies in my time in Oz, from the Bondi Life saver to the Brixton Acadamy 2019. This Band are without doubt one of the best still out there, i'm still spreading the word in London Town and beyond. 'One Country Steve' 😷🍷👍

So true. Wonderful music he left behind.
Nice tribute to Wayne thanks
Finally, an informed man delivers a tribute to a wonderful man.
I thank you for your respect.

Bones definitely deserved a proper tribute to his legacy. RIP

@@BrendonSnyder They’re a great live band - I’ve seen them several times.
Nice work Brendon. A fitting tribute and a great intro to the Oils.
Thank you! Bones sure will be missed.
I love this band. I was lucky to see them a few years back here in Ca. RIP Bones!
I never had the fortune to see them live but I’m a big fan. It was shocking to me at least because I didn’t know he was sick.

Phenomenal Review,

It’s great that you had such an amazing experience with Bones and Midnight Oil recently and before his passing.
@@BrendonSnyder Thanks for the answer....great to communicate with oil s....nice years ago....by from germany dirk
I am completely shocked by the news of his passing I am personally a big fan of midnight oil
It completely caught me off guard too. Very sad since they recently reformed and just released their first new music in 18 years.
One Country is a great tune to play and sing (for me as a Kiwi), but I could never get his high notes to work, just beautiful.

@@BrendonSnyder Hi, a Kiwi in this context is a New Zealander. Kiwi's Aussies... Cheers
Sad news
Sad indeed. I didn’t even know he was sick. I’m glad the completed recording with him and he got to see the release of their latest album.
I didn't know that ether
