Logging can be quite a huge process, with many steps, where all those pieces of equipment have specific and usually unique jobs. It's all about being as efficient as possible, to process trees as fast as possible. The ultimate setup requires millions in equipment and is several steps. It also will be different based on terrain. Fellerbunchers, skidders, forwarders, harvesters, all terrain transport, processors, road transport.....all work together...with 1 person doing each job 1 at a time, or a crew of 6-8. It has the highest payout of anything in FS if done right. And uses a lot less land than farming. Only downside, no AI, all manual. But very fun!!!
@davefool6815 like I said in another post, thus is a good intro. If it wet your beak, watch FDR Logging videos. That's all he does in FS, logging, no farming.
Thanks hulk man moved a whole tractor anyway this video is very helpful thank you so much all of the videos you have made have helped me alot throughout my gameplay of this game keep making awesome content like this dont let anyone set you down keep going strong
Hint on chopping the branches with the chainsaw thing. You don't need to find the orange circle, you need to hold mouse1 with the chainsaw off the tree to spin the blade, and then just walk (preferebly crouching) with it running along the tree and it'll cut every branch
Thanks for the vid. Nice to see all the Platinum 22 features are in the base game for 25. But only one winch available is kinda crazy. I hope Giants ports over a lot of the equipment from 22.

I've been playing since FS15 and love the game, but I always wait at least a year before upgrading once the new game/version is released due to the mods being what adds alot of the playability for me. I typically make my own maps to play on, never liked the in game maps because they kinda lack attention to detail on certain things. But yeah, that's my opinion. Good vids though dude
I love using the yarders to transport trees into the sawmills. Seems to be fastest for me. Super strength is always helpful when logging since it can be so tedious at times.

nice video, but on 23:15 you turn that wood chipper thing on and you step out of your tractor and the woodchipper is still on, but when I turned that damn thing on and I step out of my tractor, the woodchipper is turned off and must enter the tractor to turn it on again. When i get out of the tractor, the woodchipper is turned off again..what am I missing here???

Newbie here. I put down a sawmill on my property. Was $36k but I keep loading wood in and getting my money back every year selling planks. Having just my chainsaw with stump grinder attachment for skid steer. Also renting the equipment to replant every year.
Great video. I did not know about yearders and they are so much fun (I hope they improve the physics on branches and small trees). Farmer Cop: I just finish an excel table for profit of the wood production chain. Let me know if you plan to make a video on that. Thanks

I used keyboard and mouse and i find that the yellow crane truck is the best money making method in career mode once you learn how to do it, you just need to turn you scroll sensitivity high so the crane can move easily and once you get the hang of it you can do 2-3 contracts at a time with a truck and the trailer attachment youll make like 18k+ per load for maybe 30 minutes of work if you learn the controlls properly
you are missing the best part of the 848L skidder which is the 15 ton winch on it which means you can pretty much drag the largest trees you can find over 500m and you can also winch the trees together into groups. In fact the chainsaw and winch are usually more effective if you can cut trees near a sawmill than cutting them into actual logs the yarder will only move 3t tho
I've played 7hours straight making a great start on my new farm on 25 Planted a good amount of trees (100) , Saved the game went to bed and the following day I opened the game and all my trees were gone. Even on all the 5 latest backupsavefiles they are all gone. Done for a while
BTW, the orange marker when using the chainsaw to clean the branches off the trees means nothing in regards to the branches. All that says is you can't cut the tree. The best way to clean the trees is to rotate the saw to be parallel with the trunk (IE 90 degrees rotated from how you would cut through the tree) then walk along the trunk with the saw running. Since the saw blade is angled with the trunk it'll never be able to cut through the tree, but it'll be able to cut the branches fine. The reason you're having to spam the button is because the saw keeps trying to cut through the trunk.
Everyone says wood chips aren’t very profitable but for what tiny bit of wood you chipped in this video and sold you got quite a lot of money as compared to the size of that log you sold. It seems like you chipped less wood than the size of that log you sold and got double the money for it.. makes me wonder if selling wood chips really isn’t that bad of a deal seeing that you get so many wood chips for such little amounts of wood that you use to make them. It would be great to see a test done, cutting 2 identical logs, chipping one and selling the other and seeing exactly what the difference in price is. If its not a whole lot then it may be more worth it to chip wood in some instances when it’s not easy to limb and load them and haul them
just a tip with pruning the trees if you just hold the left mouse button down and run up the tree itll power through all of it, so you dont have to spam click
So, just curious...but you said it took your longpoles 24 months to grow full. I tested this today, because it's been 3 years and 4 months for me, and it happens on console and PC every time. 11:02 Pro tip, the chainsaw will trim trees if it's running at all. So start the chainsaw and keep it running while away from the tree, then just run up to it and run along the trunk and it will trim everything along the way. No need for the orange circle business
Thanks for the great info. How do you deal with stumps from very large trees? I have tried every mulcher/stump grinder in the game to get rid of some larger stumps, and nothing seems to make a dent in them.
You dont need to find no orange spot!! Look away, hit the rev limiter, hold it on the wood to disapear, aslo if you crouch while using the chainsaw your going the same speed as if you were Walking, all that has been since FS 19

I wonder if the "Info Display Extension" mod displays it, I will need to check it. I don’t think trees need to be spaced out that far. I planted some lodgepole pines too close together on accident and they are currently on their 3rd growth stage. Maybe they won’t get to their 4th but so far so good. The planter on the excavator plants way closer together which means more profit obviously so it might be worth getting it for larger operations.

I planted around 40 lodge pole pines and for some reason about half died at the second growth stage. Bark is ugly and no green needles. Did I plant them too close or something? Help!
Please help - I have a sawmill and I get woodchips in crates, which I cannot sell anywhere. What do I do with them? How do I get them into a trailer? I cannot find an answer anywhere.
@FarmerCop yup, I figured that out after I mentioned it. I totally forgot that option existed there for a moment. I appreciate the reply man! Alot of YTs never do.
Just use a bigger tractor then, the heavier ones could easily pull whole trees with it, unless they got stuck on something. You need to use a tractor with some weight to it, and preferably with a cvt or full powershift transmission. (Manuals usually keep shifting gears, unless ypu shift them by yourself) Adding a front weight + wheel weights can help out too if it has alot of wheelspin. You need at least 8~10 tons of weight if you want to do whole trees at once. And more power is better. Something like a JD4755 or Case IH 7220 is a beast in pulling trees in FS22. Also great for a forestry mulcher.
Can you please tell me where to find the chainsaw after I buy it? On Hutan Pantai, bought a chainsaw and it is literally no where to be found. Checked the shop, all around my farm, everywhere.
So the tree planter takes care of setting the proper distance between the trees along its route, but don't you need to keep a proper distance between rows? When you tested the AI worker it looked like the rows might be correct for poplar, but trees would probably be too close together.
How do you make planks? I bought the lumber mill, but where in the heck do you put them to make planks? ive gone to every yellow point and there is nothing indicating ow I make them into planks
I'm doing a Wood Transport contract and it says to deliver to Sawmill. I'm at the designated area to unload but nothing is happening. I tried just pulling up on the icon, I unloaded manually on the icon, I tried looking around for the Wrench icon to see if I just press L3 to sell, I even placed one in the water cuz I know some sawmills actually use the water to transport the logs around. But so far I'm at a loss. Am I simply missing something?
@ I ended up trying another wood transport but this time selling point was at Paper Mill and that one had a Sell interaction. Either I'm too blind the find the one at the Sawmill or they forgot to even put it in 😂

Also great for a forestry mulcher.
is it posible to remove the stumps and logs that are in the forest from start?
Can you please tell me where to find the chainsaw after I buy it? On Hutan Pantai, bought a chainsaw and it is literally no where to be found. Checked the shop, all around my farm, everywhere.
Forestry takes so long to make a profit. I love it my favorite part of the game. Will there be maps with tons of forest on it
$100k of equipment and you can make over $1M per year.
So the tree planter takes care of setting the proper distance between the trees along its route, but don't you need to keep a proper distance between rows? When you tested the AI worker it looked like the rows might be correct for poplar, but trees would probably be too close together.
the new heizo seems to be a big improvement
If you just want to remove a tree drive up to it with the mulcher it will cut it down and alot of the times eat it as it falls
If lower the mulcher first before you drive into it, it will make the tree disappear completely..like the tree be gone
You would roll the log with a winch, then cut the other side. Twigs off or whatever you gotta call them.
The winch also has a spot to store your chainsaw
Can you put wood chips into the saw mills?
How do you make planks? I bought the lumber mill, but where in the heck do you put them to make planks? ive gone to every yellow point and there is nothing indicating ow I make them into planks
I found out that the stump grinder works better and faster for left over branches.
Mouse and keyboard is best if you set the dpi on your mouse fast enough
Thx for sharing FC! I see Giants didn't fix the JD Buncher .They have learned nothing
I had this same exact issue, was very frustrating. I quit doing those missions because of it.
@ I ended up trying another wood transport but this time selling point was at Paper Mill and that one had a Sell interaction. Either I'm too blind the find the one at the Sawmill or they forgot to even put it in 😂
I looove the graphics. They look like cute toys. Haha, in a good way of course. Can't wait for tomorrow.
Bought it now so I can get home and just down load it can't wait
Lol it's like you have had to much coffee, you are going a million miles an hour😂
so the log pick up tools and forks still work like they did in 19 hard pass on 25 was kinda pissed i even bought the 22 back to 19 i go
stand on top of the tree (at the bottom) make sure your chainsaw is straight, use it.than crouch and move forward. e z way to trimm your welcome
Are they any log splitters? In the game
Id love to see a modder make a bucket truck for role play specsilly when the storms happen
It doesn't plant for me, I have all the equipment but when I lower it and turn it on, it's not doing anything. What could be the problem?
I cannot figure out where to sell my ledgepole pines in America map…I have gone to a he sawmill but it never gives me a sell option
We need a farmer cop guide on growing cannabis
