I’ve been fencing for about 2 years in Saber, and have only just gotten to the competitive scene, but I’m honestly surprised about the amount of corruption. I’ve heard about lately another fencer (Alshamlan) qualifying the Olympics on some very suspicious calls from referees and I thought oh ok maybe it’s only a handful. But HALF!!! this is disgraceful
Honestly I think it’s just an indication of what people are like… every man has his price and I dare say at least half of all officials in all sports are corrupt to at least some degree…. But at least half of all competitors in all sports are also corrupt in one way or another (drug cheats, gambling interests pressure etc) people are by nature huge letdowns.
At one point I was less than 2 seconds from a 1500m world record time.. training myself.. I called the olympic coach in colorado and asked what I should do.. his only question was who my sponsors were.. when I said I didn't have any he basically said "without sponsors don't even try,the budget I would have to help you isn't enough so just give up and find something else" and he hung up on me...
i was a fencer from 2005 to 2017 in Mexico and i know jacobo morales de referee that show up in the video of the usa competion, It is the worst, because it is very easy for him to be against you, if it is not because you are against someone in his team or because he dislikes you, he will always be against you, even when it is only one light

Started two years ago too and I share your feelings. It’s sad how deep the corruption iceberg goes
respect to the man being good/positive is a choice just like being bad/negative
Thank you for standing up to your values.
5 grand for your integrity, to betray everything you stand for...
Apparently, integrity is cheap in the fencing world.

old quote "You can do well, or you can do good, not both"
Most professional sports are no more than a circus act
probably every sport with a ref has this issue

Remove the corrupt actors completely.
We have a real and viable plan.
Let's talk.
He needs to say the names....
