      thanks for your great videos always! I have a general other question: which piano would you recommend to get for melodic house/ progressive house etc. (not really satisfied with the stock logic ones and I think it’s time to extend my library…) would appreciate your tips :))

    It's incredible how you can put this on your master bus and subtly increase the shape knob and it instantly makes your mix more clear and professional sounding. Big shoutout and thanks to Analog Obsession.

      I downloaded ot today i usually try plugins also mixing ones on the master to notice immediatly what exactly it does/analog sound it adds, and it just makes everything better, you dont know why but it just sounds mixed wothout actually mixing it

    His commitment to include automatic gain compensation and oversampling are what set Analog Obsession apart from other plugin makers. Thanks for the demo.

  • @nj1255
    @nj1255 2 роки тому +10

    "Shape" is just a pre set EQ curve (Pultec-like) that gets more drastic when you turn the knob. The "Life" knob adds subtle transformer-like saturation. It's a easy, but effective plug-in! If you know that you want that Pultec-style curves on a track/bus/master, it can give you that quickly and easily. The saturation is very pleasant as well, and with oversampling enabled the aliasing is completely inaudible.

    This sounds very similar to the character of the Slate Digital Revival, just adds a little bit of colour without overly saturating it. Gives it a nice little shine.

    Well, thanks a lot for this. I'll download it. Few months ago, I had an epiphany when I tried his RARE eq (emulation of the Pulteq). It's free, it's absolutely a shame that it's free. And the way it enhances the mix is gorgeous, just like this ReLife thing.
    But about this Relife, seems like the intended use is the same as intelligent/automatic eq/balancer, like Voxengo Teote or the famous Gulfeoss. I bought Teote last year, it's incredible but this one is free with fantastic results!

    Interesting plugin. Will have to download it and play with it. Analogue obsession makes some very nice modeled plugins. On your full mix it sounded too bright to me. I roll off some of the high end on my mixes because it sounds far too digital and bothers my ears overall. Im producing Dub and Dub techno which tends to be pretty dark.This would be great on leads and some synth patches.

    I'm a noob regarding the more subtle, technical aspects of mixing and eq. This seems like a very useful, effective tool. While upsides are convenience, gain compensation, etc, what might the downsides be? Loss of eqing that is more specific to the mix at hand? A shortcut that discourages honing of listening skills? Any tradeoffs for the convenience?

    • @BoundtoDivide

      Hey 👋 yeah I guess if you cant really hear what its doing but just use it blindly that could be hindering progress. If you can hear the problem and understand what this plugin is doing to fix it then i dont see any downside to using it.

    Hmm, strange. If I add it to my tracks they just start sounding really muddy. Loosing a lot of midrange frequencies which is not what I want on my master channel. Seems to me that it's better to only use it on certain elements to leave room for the midrange or something.

    • @High_Gain_Pity_Party
      @High_Gain_Pity_Party 2 роки тому +2

      Hmm, strange. For me it really cleared up the mud and made everything sound so crips (used on the master). I set shape on 3 and Life on 10 and enabled oversampling, but then again my mix consists of guitars, bass, drums and vocals, not EDM type instruments.

    fab filter multiband compressor or another mb compressor: 250 - 800 Hz. just reduce 3db in this range and your rumble sound is gone. there is no need for another "magic" plugin.

    • @Cha0z19
      @Cha0z19 2 роки тому

      Yeah, was gonna try something similar. I guess Ableton's stock MB compressor should get the job done. Thank you for putting it out there!

    • @BoundtoDivide
      @BoundtoDivide  2 роки тому +3

      This is free, automatically gain compensated, has built in saturation, and a lot more convenient workflow wise so theres really no reason to not use it. Its also not just reducing the midrange but adding highs and lows with one turn of a knob.

    • @AcidAllah
      @AcidAllah 2 роки тому

      using multiband compressors for mastering is just plain nonsensical. even linear phase mb comps are not recommended

      If you have even a bit of experience producing music you learn very quickly that not all EQs sound the same even with identical settings. Which is why some sell for £1000+ and some are free. AO happens to make plugins modelled off the same circuitry as some of the highly desirable analog hardware units but he does it for free. You’re getting something really awesome and super convenient for free. So i have no idea why you and a handful of other people choose to complain about this??
