There are 2 more interessing things in Beat Designer (no video can contain all the stuff...): - you can Trigger the Patterns with MIDI-events ascending from C1 - helpful to change the patterns if you want to work only inside of Beat Designer. - it is also possible to create crescendos and descrescendos (while holding the Alt-key)- ...but that's a bit tricky... But a very cool function!

Another tip: When clicking to add beats, how high or low you click within the slot sets the velocity. I did not know about dragging up and down to adjust velocity. Thanks!

There are a few things here that I wasn't aware of and that brings new life to this the Beat Designer. Great! Now, add some feature that makes creating poly rhythm easy.
Beatdesigner clearly deserves much more attention, from both the users AND Steinberg. why do so many people love and install as a 2nd daw/ move to Flstudio ? because of the great, quick, old-school step sequencer programmer. in 4 seconds, people have created a beat, and are triggering all kinds of samples. many top edm artists, despite having installed a new daw, keep using FLstudio as slave rewire, for the beat purposes. Beatdesigner deserves more love from Steinberg, like : a new interface (that black thing destroys my eyes and brain), many more options, a random feature, slide, tie options, many playback options, like move to, play once, pause, random, etc etc, like the step sequencer on RPapen Blue2, or Uhe zebra 2. i even believe that new Beatdesigner would deserve HAVING its OWN lower pane, next to the editors or samplers. with a perfect instrument integration, anytime we would add a new instrument track, the 'Beatdesigner' pane would automatically show up, with the option for 'autoload' a particular preset, with a few notes ready to drive the vst instrument. just imagine, i add a new instrument track, ex, retrologue 2, automatically, the Beatdesigner pane shows up, on the lower zone, with a 1-bar bass sequence auto-loaded, i click 'play', and I'm previewing some bass presets on retrologue2, with 0 effort. in 1 second, i have a bass sequence beng trigged by Beatdesigner. how cool would that be ? groove agent, vst instruments, drum machines from D16 or Roland, Kontakt drum machines, and many others, ALL could instantly and easily be trigged by the new Beatdesigner lower lane. people would have fun previewing their beats or sound/bass sequences, by simply drawing a few notes, or by loading one of the hundreds presets. because, let's be honest, 95% of the cubase users don't even know Beatdesigner exists or how it works, and the remaining 5%, only a few will dare spending more than a few minutes, on that interface. having it on its own pane, on the lower zone, would be fantastic. so please, Steinberg, just do it. this can simply be done, with very little code, without it messing with the other features or workflow. please add this, with many great features i can't even think of, and get ready to embrace many new users, that will come from FL studio, Maschine, Live, because now they will have a great beat designer tool in Cubase.
great video. Would be great to see this integrated with Groove Agent to find matching styles/patterns in GA based on a beat in Beat Designer. Would also be great to see this further developed to get some of the features of the since discontinued Slicy and Fill in drummer MIDI plugins. Things like being able to try different hihat patterns with a set kick/snare pattern or ability to add a fill would be good additions.

Yeah sooooooooo many things missing in elements. Elements is a great piece of kit though, and you can find work a rounds to solve most of the missing goodies that are in the pro version. I've never been tempted to upgrade
I can't see the option to get from Halion Sonic SE3 the drum map, I think that only applies to Groove agent, Im assuming the kits in Halion are GM mapped?
I have an issue with the creation of midi patterns from beat designer: if I click any of the options like 'insert pattern at cursor' it just gives me the note of the pattern (for example C1 or D1) instead of the whole pattern. I have tried different ways and the result is always the same. Anybody knows how to fix this?
Works ... sort of.. when I 'fill loop with patern I get a yellow rectangle and it plays a ghost pattern throughout my song NOT just the Loop part ?????

Beat Designer is a good start but it is still far behind other beat sequencers. It is currently the black eye of Cubase. I'm really hoping Cubase 10 incorporates an overhaul for Beat Designer.

Yes, if I understand you correctly. You can right click any of the drum pads, and select/create a individual channel. I use it all the time to separate the kick for side chaining the bass line.

Nice, but Beat designer shouldn’t be hide away as a midi insert. I want it to be the default midi drum editor and therefore open up in the lower zone etc... Every new version of Cubase the software becomes more and more a total clusterfuck of randomly placed functionality. The list is so long...Time to clean things really up in ver. 11 Steinberg.
This beat designer should be intergrated into edit in place,, or instead of a lower zone drum editor, placing a plugin into Midi effects slot is too slow

How do you do that? The crescendos I mean.

Spirit Wave Simply deactivate the beat designer plug-in from the MIDI insert slot.
Can it do triplets and hi-hat rolls like in trap music? if it can't its seriously out dated. maybe good for synthwave tho. ;)

Simthembile Phesa select the MIDI track, go to MIDI menu - dissolve Part and select separate pitches.

Exactly! Beat designer is hidden like that, whereas it should be clearly displayed, put infront because it can be really useful for drums!!!!
