The 70s was an absolute golden age for soul music. Some of my favorite soul music from that time period came from the Blaxploitation films that were coming out at the time. In this video I show you how to make soulful samples in the style of those classic compositions made my legends like Isaac Hayes for films like Shaft.

thank you! 💯🙏🏾
having a problem intergrating my native instruments vsts with mpc ren i have a casio xw-g1 as midi and komplete 18 ultimate edition when i look for my vst i only see factory mpc vsts help also im pc
The Takeaway : This reveals a LOT of the secret sauce to the sound, like the string falls and the automation for the humanizing feel. Good job. Good video.
🙏🏾🙏🏾💪🏾 thank you 💯
This is DOPE!
Thank you 💯💯
BRUH YOU GET A FOLLOW. Finally someone on UA-cam who can actually discuss composition in this world. Thanks man

appreciate you!! It's cool I'm only 2 months in on this channel. we'll get there I just appreciate the support 💯
Sounds like something is about to go down...
haha yup that's what I was going for 💯
I’d be dialing back the note lengths of that little 16th note bass run to make it punchy af. Great vid though!!
Great video, always good to see how things might be replicated from scratch. But something that would help folks like myself who sometimes struggle to see how the pieces add up (especially in the early stages), you should periodically play everything you have so far. Can group them how ever they make sense, for example after laying down instruments A, B, and C, play ABC; after D, E, and F, play DEF, and then play ABCDEF, and so on. I’m sure I’m not the only one who learns well this way.
🙏🏾💯 thank you for the feedback Joshua I’ll keep that in mind mind going forward
how do i get started doing what u do but making my own? HOLLA BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!

Brilliant tutorial. Wicked sounds.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Glad you like it!!!
Bro, how do you train your brain and ear to hear that 70's vibe? Blaxploitation is possibly my favorite genre, but I can seem to replicate it in a way that sounds authentic.
That my brother.... Is actually the video I'm working on this week. Aiming to drop it next week I'll keep you posted 💯
@thehillsounds Looking forward to it. Thank you for replying.
@@thekingsmatter5845 you and I have the same dilemma My Brother.
@@thekingsmatter5845 He did a fantastic job of making it authentic sounding. He also did mention a couple key things in this vid though. Humanizing the music by not quantizing and using dynamics should give you more authenticity. You have to remember that a lot of the guys making those Blaxploitation soundtracks were composing and arranging on them.
@@smoothsavage2870Thanks for the input. My issue is more a combination of instrumemtation, articulation and composition. Furthermore, someof the wicked sounding guitars from that era had a unique combinations of guitar effects, which I have no idea how to recreate. There is a lot involved brother, but thanks.
Loved this whole concept and execution, great work man. My only comment would be that I expected you to thin out the drums and push them further back in the mix, especially considering that the purpose of this is to act as an old school sample for building a beat. Other than that I thought your whole process was excellent
Thats masterpiece
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 thank you 💯
You Talking, Talking. i love this. Keep working G

thank you fam. next video is dropping in a couple of hours and I'm filming the one after that tonight. Yeah bro I'm a huge advocate of using what you have to get as good as you can. I used mostly stock plugins and "basic" libraries to get most of my early placements.
@@thehillsounds well I don't enough pocket but I use mpc1000 FL studio 21 with nice plugins and I play live bass n keyboard it's all I do mate.

How can I do that modulation in fl studio?
On the left hand menu side:
Current project --> Remote Control --> Omni - Mod wheel (Wrapper)
When the setting menu comes up, don't click anything. You just want to make sure that these 3 options are on:
Auto detect
Omni
Remove Conflicts
Next move the mod wheel on your midi-keyboard. It should now be working for you.
If it doesn't work then let me know and I may have to do a whole video for it.
@@thehillsounds man, thank you! I really appreciate you going above and beyond with the information THANK YOU!!!

I'm a huge music geek. You did a great job! Congrats! I think the only giveaway this isn't authentic IS the drums which were never mixed that loud back in the day.
very dope

I stumbled across your channel today and I'm glad i did! This is awesome! Thank you for sharing this!
Glad you found me! Thank you there’s more on the way 💯
On the strings, what did you have assigned to the modulation wheel? Or was it just something built in with the vst sound
For this string library it’s automatically set to the dynamics
Thank you for sharing. Very impressive. Easy to follow. 👍🏼
THANK YOU fo watching. Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial. Creative solution for the Kick room sound. Is there a reason why you didn't address it within AD?
Thank you 🙏🏾. Tbh I can't remember exactly what my thought process was in the moment there. Usually when I do things that way it's either A. out of convenience and not wanting go into the plugin itself and just opting for a quicker solution or B. leaving the reverb on the kick still had a certain sound character that I preferred over just the dry sound. But again I can't quite remember which it was here.
this is interesting .
got this suggested on my feed and very grateful I clicked on it, thank you for this man! Also you put some vst's on my radar haha
Glad I could help! 💯💯🙏🏾
Bro super 🔥💯 u make it seem easy but I definitely will practice ur method 🫡🙏🏽💯‼️ keep up the videos
You can do it! 💯
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@thehillsounds sended you an email bro 💪🏽
Simple and successful tutorial. Good work.
Glad you liked it! 🙏🏾
Have you tried putting a cabinet emulation on the Rhodes? This can make a huge difference in authenticity. I also found that for reverb usually convolution based chamber / medium room, plate and spring reverb works best for oldschool sound!
Yup those are some great tips!
@@thehillsounds Thanks brother! Your tutorial gave me tons of inspiration and I composed an oldschool type of track that I'm very fond of!
fyahh vid bro would u do more?
Editing the next one right now 🙏🏾💯
