Prior to the coronavirus shutdowns I had a great gig, I was an employed homeless guy. I work for the airlines, so whenever I was working I had layover hotels for free, and whenever I was off work I would travel (on the cheap, camping or hostels). It was working out great, but now I'm out of work and borders are closed. Solution? Buy a Yamaha bolt and road trip around the country, hopefully to Alaska. I have about 2 months until I am required to return to work (unless that gets pushed back further), and as of right now the Canadian border is still closed. So time and covid restrictions are going to be obstacles, but on the upside I have a fully registered vehicle and a motorcycle license, which in the 10 years I have been riding a bike is a first.

Cannot WAIT to watch your adventures!
Bought my Bolt back in January and am dying to do some cool mods to it for travel! Safe travels & have a blast!
Thanks! It's done amazing so far. In Arizona now.
I have the same bike it’s a beast. I’d recommend you get a highway bar if you don’t have forward controls. You can rest your feet on them to stretch out a bit on those longer rides.
I've fallen in love with her for sure. That's the one upgrade I've been thinking about. I've never had highway bars but I've always wanted some. I'm about to film an update on how well she has performed, but it's hard to edit video while camping lol
Just found your channel. Totally looking forward to your adventure. Be safe!
Mobile, AL. in here!!
Good luck on your trip 🏍️🛣️🌄🏞️🏔️
Great video! We here at VikingBags really appreciate your content!
Loved Bible verse peace for your mother. May you have many God winks along the way ❤️
I'd bet it'll perform better than any Harley on a long roadtrip.
942 cc engine. More than enough power for daily riding. I have the regular cruiser version of this bike, the v star 950. Yamaha engines are bullet proof, the most reliable motorcycle engines in the world! That’s why they have been #1 for many years. I recommend to do Ivan’s ecu tune for the bolt, it will completely change the bike!
I wasnt aware of the reliability awards lol she has held up great so far. My only issues were my fault and maybe I'll talk about those in an upcoming video.
What is Ivan's ecu tune btw?
Global Vagrant www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/bolt.htm
what is the ECU tune???
Fellow Bham Bolter here. Excellent bikes
Wish they had a Bolt 1100!
Or at least a 1000
Nice! Good luck 💪🏼
Great video
The front fender is on backwards. Its really common with bolts, mine was. I love my bolt its a great bike.
Really??? I thought something was up with it lol I'll have a look at it
Cool overview and impression of your bike. Been gathering impressions of the Bolt from various places. Looking forward to your trip.
Psalm 137:9
Glad you enjoyed it my friend. Are you considering getting a bolt yourself?

My situation is weird. I'm 73, a widower, and want a bike for long distance touring. Was looking at maxi-scooters, but the over 350cc don't seem to be imported any longer to USA. Piaggio BV350 has storage and comfort advantages but considering bigger led me the Bolt; doesn't seem like too much bike for me. And I found some interesting videos of packing up a Bolt and touring. Still deciding however -- maybe spring time. (My last ride was a '67 FLH).
That is a bit of a delimma... the bolt isn't too big really but they do come naked. You'd have to get the saddlebags and stuff aftermarket. Idk though maybe the dealer could get it all hooked up.
Great vid. The bike appears to be able to handle the trip. Now for a motorcycle, want you be putting a lot of wear and tare on that thang?
Ok Dad lol yea I will but I'm not worried about it
Global Vagrant yeah. You’re TUFF!
Hopefully you didn’t buy the passenger seat from the OEM, it is actually the most expensive. There is one that match your seat at a lower price.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🏍🏍🏍🏍
Following - Wanted to do a road trip with a Yamaha bolt too -
What's your mpg? on a full tank etc
Ive been driving about 100 miles and putting less than 2 gallons in at fill ups. I'd say I'm averaging about 55 mpg. Not bad considering all the gear I've got on here lol
@@globalvagrant1392 Hahahaha! I'd be watching your youtube, mostly the content on the trip! Best of luck, and stay safe!
Thanks! I'm about 9 days in now in utah. So far shes held up great
@@globalvagrant1392 Sweett How's the riding so far in utah. Finding gas etc. And the ride in general
your bike must be a 2015. I have the exact same bike right down to the color and tank design.
Yup 2015. Great bike.
Mine is black now after hitting a deer and repairing it
I live in that area I’m gonna have to shoot a music video there some day
Where did you buy the bike ? Couldn’t understand. Good luck
Thanks man! I found it on letgo.
My sister was born in that abandoned hospital
Surely not while it was abandoned lol
why did u get a bike with so many ccs. doesn't that mean it can go hella fast? do you wanna go like 300km an hr or something
Bigger cc is better for the long journey. I don't feel confident putting a small engine through that much work.
You were right by our apartment. Can’t believe I missed you.
Dude u live near the abandoned hospital??
Does your brother make these rear fender box brackets for sale to the public?
Do you know anyone else that went from Alabama to Alaska.
I do not, and covid kept me from crossing the border into Canada, so I didn't make it either lol
Have fun and ride safe. Let us know how the bike holds up during your trip
So far it's been perfect. I'm in Ariizona now, flagstaff area. I'm about a week in to the trip and so far so good
Interesting video. How do you register the bike with no address, but what I really want to know is how tall your sissy bar is, please? Some rear box!
Used my parents address lol I'm not sure about the sissy bar I'd have to measure... you're talking about the back seat rest right? I'd say around a foot in a half if I had to guess
@@globalvagrant1392 Thanks for replying. Considering a Bolt or an 883 Iron and would fit a sissy bar to take a sissy bar bag.
Yea im sure this could hold a good size bag. I strap my backpack to it all the time
click bait
So, still alive?
Haha still alive
@@globalvagrant1392 i saw follow up vid, I'm probably going to buy the bike as well! Thanks for sharing, also if you could make a video about the modifications that would be cool :)
Lol I dont think you will regret the bolt. I wish i had of videod the making of the saddlebags, because that is really the only interesting mod. My brother and I made them, and im pretty proud of them.
@@globalvagrant1392 Yeah too bad! Wil there be more vids about the bike?
Possibly... you've got me thinking I should. I was thinking of doing a trip from bama to Maine area. The weather is about to be premium, but after that I could be leaving the usa for a year or so. I'm editing a different video right now and then I'll have to figure out the next thing lol
