Great question Faisal! I'm always happy to answer questions about sharks, even if its not to do with the video - so please never be afraid to ask whatever you like. In answer to your question, do sharks sleep - not exactly. Sharks have what we call active phases and resting phases. So there are certain times where they will be swimming, but their brains are in this resting phase, for example this might be during the day time. I have dived with Grey nurse sharks in Australia who during the day are in their resting phase and often swim almost in a large circular pattern. However when night comes around, they head off in their active phase to hunt for prey. In regards to the swimming, there are many species of shark that don't require to continually swim forwards in order to breathe. Species such as nurse sharks can sit completely stationary on the seabed and breathe via a process called buccal pumping. These sharks technically could "sleep", however based on a recent literature review on this topic, significantly more research needs to be done to actually show this! A big long answer there for you hahah!
Thank you for saying the meters, because I am originally from germany....when you as well could say miles in km would be great. The fact what frightened me most was, that you said in point 5 that the great white decrease now in the north west Atlantic ,where I live now (Fuerteventura) Scary news.
I have been salmon/kahawai fishing in new zealand and i hooked a 90cm School Shark on a silver hexie lure that imitates a bait fish in a river mouth. Shark was hooked in the corner of the mouth which to me says it attacked the lure as my target species 99% of the time hook up in the jaw.
One thing I do know is that a big great white can swallow a person whole. Easily my favourite way for people to be eaten alive. I quite like it when a shark bites someone's head off. My third favourite method is for a pack of sharks to rip someone to shreds. I also like lion and tiger attacks, where the person get's eaten. Crocodiles can be fun too. I would like to see film of someone being consumed by army ants.
Puns are very cheesy but awesome. Keep using them! Are females more aggressive or shy than males or does it depend on the gender and/or personality? And does it change during mating season? Just wondering bc I saw a documentary on tiger sharks and the scientist describe the female as "shy" and cautious and the male was more aggressive. It was also thought to be mating season but there were also whales migrating through. It was around Hawaii.
I’d say it’s definitely more of a personality factor generally. Although like you said, at certain times of the year (mating season perhaps), males can easily get more aggressive
I heard that sharks achieve buoyancy due to the fat in their livers as they have no fish bladder, is that true? If that's the case and they can eat into their stores of liver fat during a migration while not feeding much on fish or mammals, wouldn't that reduce their buoyancy leading them to expend more energy to be near the surface, eating more of their liver fat in a vicious cycle?
@@billbally4419 Thank very much you! But I’m sorry to inform you that this account was my brother’s account who passed away last year. I have never known his love for sharks, so I really appreciate for the reply. Thank you 😊🥰
The Seven Star Lake specimen from Taiwan in 1997 is clearly larger than Deep Blue looking at the size of the head and pectoral fin in comparison. It was said to be 7 metres but clearly wasn't measured accurately, as that's not a precise figure. Unless it really was bang on 7 metres.
I have one for you...Great White sharks do NOT have a nictitating membrane to cover their eyes like many sharks! You have made the mistake several times noting the nictitating membrane on Great Whites. There are several sharks that do not have this membrane: Great White, Shorfin Mako, Thresher, Sand Tiger, Dogfish and Basking sharks. These sharks protect their eyes while eating by rolling their entire eye back into their heads. 🦈
Literally like fish. As part of my previous research i've had to dissect dead individuals and that smell is horrific - rotting fishy guts, truly awful.
@@SHARKBYTES You apparently study fish, not climate, hence a shark channel. And yes, everything is related of course. However climate change which is the normal weather patterns of our planet is real. I took you to mean Global Warming, which is a failed theory. If I made an error I apologize. If you did mean Global Warming then I respectfully suggest you go back to school. Most of the prof's studying this at the university I'm associated with who work on this highly lucrative "field" are so embarrassed by the drivel they have to write for money they don't even really talk to each other anymore. Computer models programmed to show "climate disasters" do exactly that. Real world field studies and dedicated research show that we are finishing a decadal cyclical warming cycle and are already starting to cool. We pollute far to much and this should be the cause of concern for those involved in marine studies. Not the cash cow of false climate change. Cheers
Wrong as usual about great white shark sizes. There have been plenty of evidence suggesting great whites over 7 meters long. For instance the recorded shark bite sizes on whale carcasses, the bite size of the shark that was involved in the attack on Lewis Boren and the estimates of the Kangaroo Island shark caught in 1987.

Is Deep Blue still the largest shark on record?
Deep blue was never reliably measured, so I think technically she’s not the largest on record
