It's not worth it. This console is cursed and 60Hz mod will not help it. Audio is unbearably terrible either way. Also PAL Bare Knuckle and Sonic 2 doesn't run and sound that slow. Compare your video to PAL Sonic 2/Streets of Rage (every other game than Sonic 1) recordings on UA-cam.
The nostalgia level is crazy right now. I had this as a kid here in Eastern Europe. It probably was year 2000 and I never knew about the Playstation so this was it for me. Can you imagine my reaction when I saw gta 3 a year later on my cousin’s PC. I was flabbergasted cause I realized that I was living in a time far gone, I might have gotten depressed without knowing it. It was like discovering masturbation and I couldn’t get enough, I often went to his house just to get my 3D gaming fix for the week. I was upset my parents couldn’t afford a better console or PC, but now that I’ve played hundreds of games on my PC I’ve kinda gotten sick of games. I still cherish the memories and the great stories that these virtual worlds created for me, but I think I’ve had enough for now. They games these days don’t even feel like games no more, they feel like an obligation that sucks away your time,nerves and in a lot of cases money. The 2000’s were the best era of gaming imo where campaigns with gripping stories left you thinking about your experience days after completing them.
I had this in the 90s, only the insides were a NES/Famicom clone (so 8bit). It also came with some pre-installed games and you had these yellow/orange cartridges. My next-door neighbors had the original Mega Drive 2 and it was like 5 times heavier, cartridges and controllers obviously did not physically fit my clone, let alone run. I remember having some sort of a 8 bit Mortal Kombat. Then one day I go to my neighbors and play MKIII, which had real sounds and voices, I was blown away. Then they got the PS1 which came with MK4 and Spyro etc. It left a permanent mark on me and I have been gaming ever since. I'm amazed China is still forging these. I bet they are using the same molds they had back in the 90s. It's fun to think the originals stopped being produced decades ago while these are still being made somewhere in a sweatshop.

Thanks for the video. I sold my SEGA Mega Drive II a couple of years ago and somewhat regret it. After finding this console on Alixpress, I was curious and looked it up here on UA-cam. Honestly, I am happy for how well the system seems to have turned out in your tests. I live in a PAL region, so I do not mind the slower gameplay. And with the newer model I saw supporting an SD-card on the side of the console, I think I will get one. :)
Biggest problem with these things is sound really. There are other issues too but just with battery backed RAM and stuff like that so won't affect most games.
There is a new version of this clone console now, it has a SD card slot on the side that allows you to load your own roms. The menu is updated, no longer has 300+ games, just 9 but gives you a nice menu for the roms on the SDcard, so you can load 100s of your own.

I couldn't hear the audio that well in your video but from what you said in the video about Sonic 2, I can assure you that here in Europe and Australia our Sonic 2 audio was exactly the same as your NTSC 60Hz one, our Sonic 2 gameplay ran slower but the music was optimized for 50Hz. Your clone much like the firecore of the old ATGAMES model Mega Drive's doesn't check if a PAL rom is optimized or not, it purposely runs every game you chuck at it in default 50Hz when half of our PAL library was indeed 50Hz optimized in music and sometimes even gameplay. Sonic 1 was supposed to run that slow in 50Hz but Sonic 2, the music should have been faster. I agree with you about the system and the price tag, $22 dollars is pretty good for something like this, at least this clone looks just like a real one rather than the squashed can look of the old ATGAMES models.
Props to PAL players! I don't think I have the patience for 50HZ frankly. Must have been strange to realize that the games you guys were playing ran a lot faster overseas.

I'm glad to see someone else who noticed the same thing I did. Strange thing is that SOME games that are optimized actually remain at the correct speed no matter what. Like Raiden Trad for instance, no matter what console I play it on, I can't get the music to change speed -- not even if I change between NTSC and PAL during gameplay.

There are only 5 built-in games (the first 5 on the menu). The rest are repeats of the same 5 games under different names. The included power adapter works fine in the US, you just need a flat pin adapter. Since the cord is so short I actually desoldered it and replaced the cord with a longer one. Also my power adapter arrived broken and I had to resolder the connections anyway. I also added a power led to it and changed it to NTSC. Some sellers ship these as cheap as possible so the box arrives smashed up, but there is one seller that packs it well and it arrived in mint condition. Also it's not emulation; it uses some kind of console-on-a-chip (albeit a bad one) under the glob-top.

I grew up in Bulgaria , Eastern Europe and these clones were popular until the late 2000s, especially NES clones in a shell of a Playstation 1. I remember the lady in the local electrical appliances shop selling the cartridges for 5 euro each and they looked cheap but you got the game in the end of the day and enjoyed it. My sister is 10 years older and she never got the original console and it makes me think that the clones flooded the Eastern European market in the early 1990s and tricking people into believing they were the original.

Maybe just the controller's down button isn't working? I've never heard of a cart doing this but if this is the case, try pressing up instead and see if it takes you back through the end of the list.
My biggest complaint for the Mega Drive 2 clones is that the sound emulation is, HORRIBLE! For one thing, they have off pitch and ear-bleeding sound reproduction in all of these games, no matter which game you are playing now. Geez. They're like the Brazilian version of AtGames. And that, is how you should know, never buy them, never talk about them!
It's not just the plastic the main two things that make it lighter is it has no metal heat shield inside it and the actual board is like 1/3 the size of a real one it's nothing special its basically a disposable console kind of like comparing a styrofoam plate to a real one

Yes, most of these do not have built in games. There are some that do, but it's hard to tell which. The Retroad HD Genesis (Russian rebrand of the original model 1 Mega Drive clone) has built in games accessible by cutting a wire inside the shell.
That isn't how PAL works at all. Whatever TV you're using, the speed of the console can't be affected, because all the TV does is receive sound and video, it doesn't change anything about the console.

I have the same console. Seems it is an Atgames firecore emulation clone... so it's a clone of a clone. People asked me to try the jumpers of the board and on mine the two on the right when connected vertically switched it to 60hz.

There are games that are cheap transfers from NTSC to PAL. They loose about 17% of speed. There were games with good transfer to keep the speed allright. But not to much. Most PAL games had this problem. And then there were games made in Europe with no US Release with regular speed. They will run on 60 HZ mode way to fast. Because of this problems I had on my first Mega Drive a 50/60 Hz mode. So I could change the speed of the slower Mega Drive games to original Speed and also use Genesis and Japan MD cartridges. My next two consoles were a US Snes and a Us N64. I continued buying only US imported games and had always the right speed. This was very comon here in europe to buy northamerican or japanese Systems because of the NTSC/PAL diferences. You only had to have a Tv with 60 HZ support.

Well its good to know there is a 60 mod for that but still this console is garbage.Just take a listen to the music.Its awfull.If you are an american then buy the gamerztek clone console because that has a correct audio.
But again it's not acceptable.The Minigen from GamerzTek is 25$ and this is 22$ So there is no point buying this one if you are an american.But if you are an european like me then still it's garbage and there are better clones out there in the Chinese market (a bit more expensive but they have correct audio and NTSC speed from the start).
I'm sure the audio in the gamerztek still doesn't compare to the stereo sound on genesis model 1. And from what I see it closer to $30 or more on most web sites. If you have link for $25 please provide I might be interested lol. I like all types of clones I'm not against the gamerztek version and I will probably get one of those too at some point. The problem is starting around $40 you can just get the real thing so for some people it doesn't make sense to spend $30. I personally prefer the looks of this clone vs gamerztek because it looks just like the original and displays better on my shelf next to the original. Its ok to have different opinions or preferences it would be a very boring world if everyone was the same. Bottom line is its $22 and it works so in my opinion its not a bad deal.

Some clones aren't bad at all. I've always had a NES clone called Terminator. Some Genesis clones are good too.

The audio is distorted, so that might be a turnoff. Some games sound downright scary.

Well its good to know there is a 60 mod for that but still this console is garbage.Just take a listen to the music.Its awfull.If you are an american then buy the gamerztek clone console because that has a correct audio.
The sound isn't great but its not terrible the "Sega Genesis Ultimate portable game player's audio" is the definition of awful sound.
But again it's not acceptable.The Minigen from GamerzTek is 25$ and this is 22$ So there is no point buying this one if you are an american.But if you are an european like me then still it's garbage and there are better clones out there in the Chinese market (a bit more expensive but they have correct audio and NTSC speed from the start).
I'm sure the audio in the gamerztek still doesn't compare to the stereo sound on genesis model 1. And from what I see it closer to $30 or more on most web sites. If you have link for $25 please provide I might be interested lol. I like all types of clones I'm not against the gamerztek version and I will probably get one of those too at some point. The problem is starting around $40 you can just get the real thing so for some people it doesn't make sense to spend $30. I personally prefer the looks of this clone vs gamerztek because it looks just like the original and displays better on my shelf next to the original. Its ok to have different opinions or preferences it would be a very boring world if everyone was the same. Bottom line is its $22 and it works so in my opinion its not a bad deal.

I understand your point but I cannot agree with that. In Russia they still produce Dendy (Nes clone) consoles and they are not bad
of corse they have their price but in my perspective you should pay for more (maybe double!) for good quality.
I live in Hungary and I'm not a rich person but I still think that cheap consoles should not exist.
As for buying an original.Well I like clones and the old systems are getting more expensive at ebay and on the local stores
so these quality consoles are a nice alternative ascpecially for multicart that came with them.
To understand my point here is an example.The cheapest NES clone at the market is cost about 20$
The good quality one is 27-30$.Isn't that better to have a good picture and good audio and don't get an earrape?

quality NES isn't that much.(Best quality means that there is no other clone at the market that can beat in any way).

Actually Tetris was released on some Sega boards and arcades, And Atari also had a couple versions it was not just a Nintendo title. But like i said in the video the built in games are not the greatest line up.
