Hilarious! You're absolutely right. "And using your razor cut cut the bevel...just like that. Then repeat the same process on the other side." Love it!
Started diy building this as a glider this morning. Luckily it took me ages to cut out so glad this came out as I was about to start gluing. My first plane. Plan on rc at some point. But for now off to find some soft grass. Cheers guys
For your next build, you might look into the F.T. Mighty Mini Tiny Trainer. For $2 Bucks worth of foam, 20 cents worth of glue, and you can have TWO planes - - - One a Glider, and the other an R/C Plane. (Both fly GREAT, and easy to build. The R/C can even have Ailerons built into the wing, after you get good at "2-Stick Flying"...Watch the video first).
supraking85 4-Servos, Radio Tx/Rx, Battery, Motor, ESC for the Tiny Trainer came to less than $50 Bucks. (I shopped around, and got some "good deals" on New Everything. Saved enough to buy some foam board and replace my worn out glue gun, too! I don't know if I should post anything on here about where to get "cheap stuff", so I won't... Not on here, anyway! Josh, David and the F.T. Team have done so much for everyone, I don't want to step on any of their "toes"!)
This is my plan too. I decided to download and print the templates. Made master templates with thick paper and then transferred to foam. (That way I can re-use the templates for more parts or other plane). Tonight I will cut the foam and glue it together to start as a glider. Then, we will buy the electronics and learn how to fly for first time.
My kids and I built a couple yesterday even without the build video right after the plans were released. They fly great as either a glider, or when (over)powered!
Can you give a link to where you found the plans? None of the normal places are showing it for me. It should be on a "resources" tab on this page, but no resources. store.flitetest.com/flite-test-longez-electric-airplane-kit-760mm-flt-1060/p797242
Hey flite test! This was my first skratch build plane. Actually my first plane period. I followed the plans. Made the glider to see if i could do it. Then made the rc plane. Gave to my dad for chirstmas. we have flown it acouple times. It flies great. There is a pretty good learning curve on building these planes I would suggest that before you try the RC make the glider a couple times to get into practice before you actually install electronics. My next project is to make the tiny trainer.
Thank you Josh! This has meant a lot to my family and myself. We just finished this as a hand toss. Soon I am hoping to have some electronics to play with. Thank you for inspiring!
Best overall "Total Information" video you have made, in my opinion. You, Mister, are the best instructor on the Internet, bar-none! (And, I fully appreciate what you and yours have done for the Sport of R/C Models, especially for the younger generation). Good Job, my Friend.
im going to build about 20 of these as gliders for my grandsons 8 birthday party as place cards for his friends. each glider will have the kids names on them i was going to use the flite test foam board but at the time to purchase they are out of stock so going to use dollar tree foam board instead to save me the extra money... great job on the building series Josh
So great to see you at Flite Fest in Texas. We bought this kit and have it built as a Chuck glider already. Now waiting on power pack and receiver for me to make it RC!!!
Hey Flight Test folks! I wanted to thank the channel and the community for growing flight test to what it is. I've just come across this channel in the last month or so and everyone's excitement (except Joshua Scott) has inspired me to give it a shot. I've been looking for something new to try and this was an awesome combo of low initial investment, educational, high potential reward, and low risk for the dollar tree foam. I talked myself into buying 5 dollar foam from my local hobby store and it turned out to be excessively crumbly, but the plane still turned out beautiful! (I think it may have been some specific of foam board for miniature scene modeling type work; not sure obviously) I just finished the chuck glider build and I'm going to the park to chuck it now. I'll let y'all know how it goes!
Lmao I've just made one of these this morning! Lol there wasn't this build video but once again boys you have made it so so so easy to put together that I didn't need video for this one. Now I've just got to wait for the 15/20mph winds to bugger off and I can fly it! Thanks lads! P.s I've already got the fpv gear that's going in it! Hehehe it's just begging to be flown fpv! Lol 🤘😁
Good video once again from the flight test family. Want to thank you guys for inspiring me to get into the hobby. Now I’m broke lol. J/k. I’ve built three or four of your designs. Just for grins. Very easy and has made me make my own stuff. Thanks again.
This is a good build for younger makers if you pre cut the parts, however the canards are prone to being ripped off on landing. I have designed a small reinforcement piece in 1mm Styrene sheet that helps with this, I used the canard plan at 80% then took the root area and the first half of each canard. Other than that they fly great as chuck gliders. Can we get the band launched jets from the STEM package as free downloads? I could make tons of those.
Just did my maiden flight and it flies great! Only problem I'm having is with the prop nut wanting to come off due to the direction the motor spins. Why didn't the kit come with CCW props?
I know I am not going to get an answer from you guys .!..but here goes,""""Can this long-easy be built into a giant plane with wing length about 6 foot wide ../ would this work ...do you know ....? I saw that, and then he had a piece of foam scrap under the tail end of the Square, when he glued the second winglet! (I'm sitting here squirming in my chair yelling "NO! NO! Josh...!) Haha! He IS the best though, and I know how hard it is to get everything "just right" when making a recording! (I might just have to try one of these, before I make the Q-9 Reaper!)
Great "EZ" Design Josh!! Looks like the perfect second, or even first Plane, for the guy who doesn't want everyone else's Cub. 😱😜 I prefer takeoffs and landings.... Hi guys. Learning to fly can be hard. I find these small planes are to hard to learn with, can't see them, wind etc. A much bigger version would be awsome. Also us beginners can't throw and fly, we need landing gear. Can this kit be made to those specs. Any help would be appreciated 👍
I do not know where you live Pierre, but here in the US we go to the local Walmart, Michaels or best place the Dollar Store or Dollar General. Look for Adams Foam board. Usually 1 dollar a sheet. Hope that helps. If you are someplace other than the US, try Amazon or Ebay.

I was just saying this to myself yesterday... funny :D
There are no mistakes. Just happy accidents? :P We're just gonna put this little airplane in this happy cloud here...
