I remember being very young and passionate about The Strokes and thinking how weird Julian's melodies and harmonies are (although i didn't know back then what harmonies were). When we listen to versions like these it's easier to see how rare and rich those songs are. And, on top of this, The Strokes were just cool.
These stripped down versions remind me of Elliott Smith

Room On Fire is my favorite album too. I remember being fascinated with Nick Valensi's playing at the time when 12:51 was first released as a single.. before the album dropped.

I just saw the Strokes last night with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Charlotte, NC. It was my first time seeing them live, it was an awesome show! They started their set with this song.
