I'm definitely interested in hearing the comparison between the different years. If possible, I'd love to hear your thoughts on a comparison between the sound of the 2002 VH4 compared to the Big Max. I know you no longer have the Big Max so a clip isn't necessary, but I'd still like to hear your thoughts. I've been keeping my eye out for an older VH4 at a reasonable price and missed my shot last year. Since seeing your Big Max review, I've been wondering if it's the next best thing. Thanks!

Awesome information here, appreciate it! I have 2 questions for you since you seem pretty savvy on the subject.
    1) what are the difference in the silver face and blue face specs? Could a silver face be easily modded (a few resistors and capacitors) to match the blue face schematic?
    2) can we get a sound clip comparison between the two?

Hey there, thanks for the questions.
      1) There are a couple of differences. Blueface spec is FAR darker with less gain and compression. Some call it more organic. To me the Blueface spec VH4 is just an EVIL sounding amp. It's mid-heavy, more raw, less filtered, and less fizzy. It's all brutal, chest-smacking, Diezel tone. The Silverfaces tend to be more compressed with more negative feedback. They're less punchy but more saturated. They can fill a room with a thick wall of gain kind of like a Rectifier. I do not know if you can mod a Silverface spec to a Blueface spec. Bluefaces have one extra preamp tube for the clean channel so it might not be possible.
      2) Yes, I'm working on a video comparison of the 2002, 2004, and a 2022.

@@eldoradoguitars6456 awesome, excited to hear it! I have a Diezel Einstein and in my mind it leans more towards the blue face sounds but I havnt played an actual blue face in person. It definitely sounds closer to the blue face models in my axe-fx. I also prefer the blue face models in the axe-fx, but there isn’t a massive difference if tweaked to sound similar.

@@eldoradoguitars6456 really really interested in the comparison 🙂 Love'em all, I have a custom order 2015 which has Blueface spec except a resistor mentioned in the manual, so it's a bit brighter but I'll going to change it in a month.

I just want to see how the diagonal circuit boards are mounted.
