- We have been working on the Garden Railroad all summer, weather permitting of course. Part One is actually from just a week ago, we are skipping around on these updates.
This week we are switching out the rebuilt Never Mine, (the rebuild will be an upcoming show) and then running a "grape train". We are picking about 100 pounds of grapes and we are going to try transporting them in the 1:20.3 scale gondola car. No, really. Sure it may not work but we will try!
#gardenrailroad #outdoorrailroad, #largescale
That is a very healthy grape vine. Welch's would be proud. Jelly anyone?
Grape Scott, You 2 have a Haul!! Dale, you should build a working miniature winery for that outdoor layout!! That way you 2 with some of your friends could enjoy a glass full of Grape juice while running the Railroad in the evening breezes as the sun sets!!!
LOL Phun fest LMAO you guys are great. It was a real Grape show !!!!. Jus keeping them coming and keep me laughing guys. All kidding aside I really like all the content you present. Thank you.
Dale,
Thank you for getting back to the Outdoor Layout !!! Everything looks great !! Woodland creatures will take care of your grape problems before winter kicks in there in Utah.
Hi!!! Yup. There’s still another 30 pounds of grapes out there. The squirrel 🐿️ and 🦅 birds and odd rodents will feast all winter ❄️
Great vidio, Grapes of wrath, boy thats a lot of wine ing haha. Thanks for the morning coffee...
That was fun to watch but sticky work for you. Wish I lived close to you I would of loved some of your grapes. The railroad looks GREAT. Thanks for sharing. See you Tuesday.
GOD BLESS 🚂💖🍇💖🚂💖🍇💖
👍🤠👍 Great show even with out the music
It appears that you have a new "budding" hobby beginning here, home made wine?
I know that red fox squirrels like peanuts, but grapes? I wonder if he likes the ones that have fermented, I've seem videos of them having eaten other "over ripe" fruit. Very funny. The little buggers can become quite tame, at times.
Great progress on the railroad, the scenery around the mine looks great, and is holding up well. Next spring will prove to be the real test. ;-)
This was a fun way to spend a part of my Sunday morning. Watching switching on your railroad, with grapes. 👍🏻
Very nice. Great title too…
Glad you enjoyed it
I am glad you are back on the show agen .you all are looking good . hope you had a good summer .yes you need more gondolas.
There's a full moon rising over the mango tree's and another enjoyable end to the evening with you 2. We also have a squirrel that always gets the best fruit first. Good night
Sleep well 😴
Grape jelly jars for Christmas gifts. Nice the way you harvested the grapes with the train.
Lots of work. But it would be great!
Haha good sense of humor Grapes and Trains toot toot thats not a bad idea
Such a Devine episode! Liked the pun-ishment! You two are a hoot. Hang in there.
Hi. 😊 we are a bit, well goofy? No that’s a dog. Let me think about that.
@@ToyManTelevision Goofy is not a bad thing. That’s what makes you who you are and quite entertaining. I am envious of your garden railroad. Keep those puns coming. Imagine snow is in your immediate future. Stay safe.
I love the video now that’s how you harvest fruit and at least you get to play some of your music without this copyright nonsense from UA-cam. Thanks for sharing. 👍🚂
Dale, your video really juiced me up. You just crushed it.
Doh!!
My brother gave me a great idea. I have my G scale Train moving around the track, and I have a remote control Helicopter, and I practice landing the helicopter on the flat car while the train is moving.😊😊😊 Great Fun.
😮
That was fun !
I am glad you could come to grapes with the problem.
Doh!
I wish I could get some of those grapes. Concord grapes make the best pie. Oh My!!! ❤️🙏
I wish you could have gotten some. 😊
Great show today! I just love to se the railroad operate!
Me too! So fun to operate
Great to finally see some trains running !! Why not use more than one gondola? Would improve the grape picking a lot .. 😋
Damn things are up to over $200 now!! But yup. Need more.
@@ToyManTelevision Might be fun to build some, I think that would be cool.
Just one more would increase the fleet with 100% .. 😋
In order to make this profitable, you need more gondolas!
Nice railroad action. Thank you Have a great week
Well it worked
Such a great video love the idea of using the train to harvest the grapes a great video. Looks like fun awesome to see the trains running. Have a great weekend thanks for sharing
Just a suggestion, near the 'quarry' switch, measure 4 or 5 feet out from the switch and install a cross-over. Shorter runaround for switching at the gravel chute. Then you could use either track coming out of the chute. Great to see the trains running again 🙂
Thought about that. It’s the cost that puts me off a bit. But after everything else is finished that would be a plan. Upside I can run around anything! 😊
Very nice. And you have the Gramps car to ship the wine.
Oily wine… but heck. I’d drink it.
Definitely need more gondola cars. Railroad wine sounds fun although another project probably isn't in the cards.
Yup. Made wine years ago. What a lot of work! Turned out okay. Not bad. Not great. Good? Well yes. But a lot of work.
I love grapes wish I could get them to grow
Climate problem? Or just can’t get it going? It’s pretty easy. They are like yummy weeds.
not sure I live in central fl@@ToyManTelevision
This is the most fun I’ve had on your railroad!🚂🚂 I think you need to purchase or trade for a whole bunch more gondola cars for next years harvest!
We agree! 30 locomotives. Four cabooses. 10 passenger cars. One gondola. Well three… two are drop bottom.
Hum. Bunch.
Well that was a grape episode! It was sweet to see the great harvest but kind of sad to see so many grapes gone to waste. I guess there is no need to wine about it because next season you'll be raisin more.
Nothing to wine about. We’ll be raisin more.
It would be neat to make wine out of the grapes. I wonder how those grapes taste, they look very good. If they dry out, then you got raisins. Fun video!
They are super! They would make a great rich wine. But a lot of work.
I've done some scenery work on the business district area on the HO scale level on my layout
That sure was a strange looking crane you used to load grapes into the gondola!
=)
Handy thing though..
I always love watching your building of your Garden RR but yes running them is great as far as I'm concerned 😊❤. Thanks again for my Sunday fix😅❤.
You need to find someone that makes home made wine for those grapes.
My vines and fruit trees went nuts this year. I ended up taking the grapes and making juice out of them before freezing it for later. Purest form, with no sugar or preservatives necessary and it was very easy to do. The flocks of black birds took care of the rest. If you think the grapes are a mess, it's nothing compared to what the birds leave behind once they've processed the fruit. They paint everything purple. At least you don't have that issue to contend with.
😊
And just that fast all of the leaves well, most of the leaves have fallen off the vines! Two freezing nights, and that was that. 😊
You need more cars!
You need some kind of grape suqasher and make juice. Go ahead and call a winery and "whine" abou the best way to not waste these grapes, maybe they have a little suqasher they would loan you.
I made wine one year. It was so much work! The wine was yummy. But it was just way too much work.
Toy Man TV Wine! I can see it now!!
Did that one year. Old railroad. Also had grapes. Green grapes 🍇. What a lot of work!
Now you have a reason to aquire a Crane to pick up the grapes. Also, my advice on harvesting the grapes is to get a tarp or a long piece of plastic that is just wider than the railroad and place it over the railroad. That way, it is protected from the grapes during the harvest, and you don't get grapes stuck in the track. Then, you can take the tarp and fold it with the grapes inside and place a budget at the end and poor or push the grapes down the tarp and into the bin. Simple and messy free for the railroad.
Plan
@@ToyManTelevision thanks I glad you like it. I use a similar trick to pick up leaves once.
Perhaps your next venture should be Garage Mahal 2023 vintage wine.
I’ll have a glass.
Or you could add more gondola cars to the train and that way you can be able to do more than just one pound per train load. 🚂
Fun idea to use your train to harvest the grapes. I have an apple tree and cherry tree in my backyard. I used the train to harvest apples this year for the first time. It was not very efficient but it made it fun!
That’s the key!
Maybe the sugar content along with slight fermentation of the grapes made the squirrel think it could take you on .
She now has babies. We are still feeding her. And she still gives us hell.
I would call your railroad the Grapevine Vintage Railroad but that name has already been taken by a tourist railroad in Texas. That railroad occasionally operates an 1896 vintage steam locomotive. No grapes are hauled on that railroad despite its name.
Okay. Now we want to ride it.
I cannot see why no one would want your grapes. Grapes are fun to eat and you could always have them at a snack or just go to the farmers market and sell them. You are lucky to get such a cool crop.
😢 I think people are afraid of free. Or?
I was wondering if those were Concord grapes. Those are very tasty & l would've loved to take them of your railway. How did they taste?
Loved seeing the train running & can't wait for the snow to land on it, makes for some beautiful photos.
Yup. And sweet and yummy. Super sweet
Great video I just subscribed 👍 Love the Mexicano 14 locomotora from Bachmann. I also made my own custom N de M by LGB on my UA-cam videos.
Super. !!! !!!
In this case, since that’s the prototype, Bachman used, I felt it was appropriate to dress it out this way
Really enjoy seeing the trains running.
I am currently scratch building a coaling tower, do you have any updates on your coaling tower
Not yet. Need to get back on on that project!!!! Mostly finished. But I get distracted.
Build a couple more gondola cars loool
This Video Was GRAPE! No! CEREAL-ously! Aright, Don't WINE About It! Thank Goodness Stan Lee Isn't Around Anymore Because I'm Being Quite The PUN-isher! 😂 Seriously Though I Do Love Your Videos (I AM A Train Nut! 🥜) 🚂 #ToymanTelevision #Puns #Nuts
Thanks!!! 😊❤
One of the worst things about railroading is some of the extreme switching you have to do at some places
Well i usually just run. But from time to time.. 😊
Nice switching. I think that should reduce the volume of the dynamo sound, it is quite loud, nearly as much of the more pleasant chuffs!
It’s a phoenix, Soundsystem in that locomotive, and I have no idea how to program it. Everything else has tsunami. And that I can figure out. Sometimes.
@@ToyManTelevision Never heard of this brand before. They have a some documentation on their website, but maybe it don't work like a standard DCC decoder. Maybe it is supported by JMRI, when connected via the Digitrax system?
@@pbyfr hi. I don’t know. There is a 1/8” Jack as a programing port! And a center off spring momentary contact switch to set volume. Click it up to get louder down for softer. Doesn’t work until the locomotive has had power for 20 to 30 minutes. A niCad battery needs to charge. Until then it runs at full volume. So it’s odd. Yet the most popular for converting LGB and many used it on Bachmann. I bought two Connies. Both from UK and both had Phoenix sound. The other now has tsunami. But I decided to keep this one Phoenix. It’s the only one I have like that and it seems to work OK, so I’m just letting it be.
@@ToyManTelevision That seems to be quite old, and then the volume of the different sound effects must be hard coded. The model railroad's electronics has some much progressed in the last 30 years that it is difficult to remember how it was at the time! And now you put a Blunami, hookup a battery to it, and you can control it with your phone without track power! Or disconnect the battery, and use your DCC system with the same Blunami.
Let’s hope dead silence isn’t copyrighted 😂
I’m betting it already is. And they are selling licenses.
The answer is lots more gondola cars, one loader, and one receiver inside.
Big time railroading!
Big time grape crop requires big time transport to market!@@ToyManTelevision
Nowadays, they use an end of train device in place of a caboose
I would be weary about having the tank close to the engine
Yup. Bad form. 😮
Couldn't you use a nice thin cloth to cover the whole area of the track where the grapes are and just lift the cloth when you have a nice harvest fallen on it. Just a thought. Easier to clean then.
That's a good idea!
Did the squirrel get the grapes ?
Nope. He just left them.
Are you planning to put "bumper" blocks on the unfinished track ends?
Probably a stack of ties.
I am grapeful that you continue to make train videos :) Oddly, the Canadian National has a yard near my house, and they have a caboose they hauled out of retirement they use on shortline runs around town. I have no idea why, but they do use it. I am also curious about that tank car. Did you do custom lettering on that? Or was it a factory job?
It’s factory Bachmann. I have two with different numbers. And two others. Four tank cars. One custom paint. The others are stock. Plus weathering!!
The caboose they are using may be a “pushing platform”. When backing up the engineer can walk to the back with a remote and stand on the platform of the caboose while backing. They are doing that at a chemical plant near here.
Looks like the sun is going down, is that the night shift already working and having to work the grapennen gatheing?
Sunset out there. Always the best time.
When will we see more r duck locomotive works
Soon. Winter is coming. Time to work on modeling
How do the power company climb your telephone pole
They can get past.
Make wine,
You need to rename this video THE PUN CENTRAL
Or The Punnsylvania Railroad.
